Hi, is there a mistake in the video? When you created the event parameter in google tag manager, you called it "link_url," but when you registered the custom dimension in GA4, you registered it as "link_text". The custom dimension should be "link_url" same as google tag manager, correct?

But when i tried to do the same for the email address click and was about to create the custom dimension I could not put in the link_url in the event parameter field. It just said I could not use it. Can I just use link_url once? and if that is true what should I enter in the event parameter field then?

They both are starting with "tel:" in the click url, but the number after is different. What should I use as a variable while creating the trigger, click url or click classes that my developer added as unique for each? I tried to find one of your videos where you explain differences between these click variables but I didn't find it.

    • @AnalyticsMania

I would do that with GTM. I would use variable #4 from here www.analyticsmania.com/post/google-tag-manager-custom-variables/ and then fire the event mobile_phone_click based on that variable. Then I would mark that event as a conversion in GA4

yes. The steps are exactly as you described. Send an event to Universal Analytics. Create an event based goal in UA view's settings. Link your UA property with Google Ads. Import that goal as a conversion in Google Ads.

And I followed your tutorial and everything worked. Even tested it in Preview mode in GTM and all good. Tags fired. So why would Debug view not work? This makes no sense to me. I even used Chrome Google Debugger extensions and still no data in Debug View. Also, I assume to see this Event in Reports, after you create the custom dimension you would just "Create Event" correct? I created mine and named it "phone_number_click" just like in the video.
