  • This is an overview of the Christian headcovering as taught in 1 Corinthians 11, alongside mentions of its meaning and importance. It refutes several common arguments against wearing a headcovering, and explains the meaning of this chapter of Scripture.

    You are correct!
Finally someone who teaches this passage correctly. It’s a rarity. So many people wrongly state that this instruction is cultural but cannot support their beliefs from scripture or even from secular historical references.
Paul gave sacred/spiritual reasons for this instruction, not cultural ones. These reasons (headship, made in His image, creation order, and the angels) are still in existence today, therefore the instruction is too.
Thank you for your lesson on this widely misrepresented passage.

You're welcome. I'm very honored you appreciate my essay on this topic. It is clear most modern churches don't want to practice the covering because they don't like it, not because it's not taught in Scripture. It clearly is, and the vast bulk of the early Church recognized that too. One could say similar things about foot washing, which many churches write off as mere culture too, despite it being plainly taught, explained, and commanded by Jesus. I hope more brethren come to respect these New Testament teachings. They are a blessing to all of us.
      Peace to you.
