I own the Snugpak Cave, Scorpion 2 and the Ionosphere. They are all great tents. I live in the Outer Hebrides where we frequently get four seasons in a day and rain is most often accompanied by 30mph+ winds and I have never had one break, leak or tear. Now that is some achievement as i use them a lot as there are very few trees on the island. Design wise they are good enough and cover all my uses between them and they have lasted me well so despite being expensive they are good value. The worst thing about them are the stuff sacks which are a real pain to use as they are just big enough and can be a struggle to repack. As far as putting them up goes practice in everything makes for light work. Has anyone ever had a tent that actually met the criteria on numbers that it says on the packet? Nope didn't think so lol. Don't be too hard on the tent, in bad weather i guarantee you'll be glad it's a Snugpak! 🏴
Thanks for telling us about it. I much prefer reviews from people who’ve used tents in harsh conditions over several years, rather than some unboxing reviews in a back yard. 👍
Had my Bunker for years now, genuinely superb. I live in the North of Scotland and have deployed this in some frankly awful weather, including high winds and deep snow. Zero issues. Can pick them up for way less than £400 if you look hard enough. They’ve stopped using DAC featherlight poles in favour of their own, which use identical aluminium and press fit connectors, can only think they’re saving money on this one, feels ill advised to me. You can leave the inner attached to the fly after the first pitch which makes setting up a breeze. I’d happily buy again
I've been through a few tents in my time. Some just Amazon pick, and a couple nice ones. I'd say by what you showed me that your tent is on the better end. And you are right. If you are just sleeping in it then the door is a small matter. Appreciate your video.
I have a Snugpak ‘Bunker’ for about 15 years. Its purpose is a combination of stealth and strength- hence no reflective stuff etc., and it came with green guy-out lines not white. It is basicly a place for two men and their kit to bunker down in bad weather. I have used this tent extensvely in extreme weather, and remained safe and dry- condensation was not an issue. I think I counted 15 anchor points total between stakes and guy-out lines total if you need them. The only tents I can see on the modern market that might compare are the Hilleberg Staika and Soulo, but the Snugpak Bunker zips don’t leak water like the Hillebergs.
Been reading some of the other comments. When I bought mine, it was about $230.00 USD., and I was hoping it was worth it. After all my experiences in mine, it waa well worth double the price. When I say extreme weather, there was one storm we went through I prayed because we could have died, but the tent held without fault, no flapping maddly about or leaking, even with rain blowing sideways, the tent stood like a rock. I slept through the howling winds, and in the morning, peace, and everything bone dry inside and not a bit of damage. I’ll never forget that- the Bunker really lived up to its name.
I have had the Snugpak Bunker 3 for several years now. For cold weather it’s pretty toasty with me and my German shepherd. It’s VERY dark in there with the black inner tent. At 6 feet tall, my feet or head sometimes hit the wall of the inner tent. But there’s room for me, my dog, and my gear. Two people with gear would be too tight. Overall I like it for cooler weather.
I got the snugpak scorpion 3 it's a big 2 man or a 3 with a squeeze if they big people , its a excellent tent and they very warn , the reason the door is doubled layered is to prevent light shinning out from it as its a army spec tent , so the tent can't be seen when light is on inside the tent and its pretty dark so the sun light don't disturb you, I've never had any condensation issues with the scorpion 3 either
Good review JB. I was really interested in The Bunker when I was looking for my first 4 season tent a few years back. I wish Snugpak offered a 1 man inner, leaving a nice big vestibule for cooking and muddy/wet kit etc. It could potentially be a Hillerberg Soulo type bombproof dome tent for a lot less dosh! But Snugpak are one of the oddest companies when it comes to design decisions. Whats the point in a weatherproof 'bunker' that you can't even really cook in? Anyway, nice to see a detailed look at this curious tent. 👍
Yes mate. Its basically a lined waterproof jacket with a zipped in fleece jacket. They can be used together in cold weather, or as separate items. czcams.com/video/ieEAj4wdYnk/video.htmlsi=pRtGppv5ZuzHN-ki
That's why I sold my Terra Nova Zephyros 1... getting in the thing was just too much of a stoop... very similar sort of height to the bunker. Deffo, not a 3 man 😂😂 unless the 3 men work for the circus or a star wars movie 🤔 😁
I'm still kicking my self for not getting a French tent when they had them in stock. I'm not wildly impressed by this type of tent. I hate sleeving the poles.
seems to me, if it says "2 man" its a cosy 1 man, 3 man its a very cosy 2 man or a luxury 1 man! And the hydrostatic head rating is a bit of a "con" thats just the material!...add stiching etc it isnt 3000mm lol
Solo you would get away with it by sleeping across the corners, but its no ideal for a taller person. I found it tight at 6 foot. Have you seen my test video? czcams.com/video/X9QbEoNTSHk/video.htmlsi=AfTGkQbo3x3fB8Om

Oh btw my Cave I bought secondhand from Sgt.Fruitcake and my Scorpion 2 from eBay, there are bargains to be had if to don't mind pre-owned.
Yes it looks great quality and you will need that in your area for sure. I am looking forward to the test night. 👍

Still testing but it looks well built. 👍

Thanks for that. It looks very well made and I only mentioned the doors because I am getting older and it was not easy for me.

It looks very well made, more testing to be done this weekend in the woods.

@@l.v.i.bushcraftandsurvival6692 good to hear. 👍👍
For how small it looks when it is built it seems to pack down really big, odd tent, deff a 1 man mansion rather than a 3 man.
Nice looking, but it would have to be with that price tag.
I do like the black out capability.
All the best man.
The is a few good ideas, but it just don't add up for me at the moment.

I've got a Snugpak Scorpion 2 not used for coupe of years now, this was before I started hammock camping. Good tent
Snugpak do make some great gear, many being made in the UK.
Yes it looks well made, hell of a retail price though.
Have a great weekend.
You too mate.
One of the "men" in tent specifications is always your gear!
Yes but they never mention this.
@@frogmaster83 Absolutely correct!

I do find it a bit odd to be honest.
Belongs to Kirk, that’s very unusual, crazy video.
Not the 1st time this has happened. The Nightcat hammock I tested belonged to a mate too.
Looks like a pop up tent I had years ago and that was 1 man
I had to go diagonal to lay without touching the ends.
@@frogmaster83 at least you were honest with the review .
@@leemichel8199 as always mate, I just say what I see.
looks ok but very expensive, the new onetigress 4 season tents look better to my eye
I agree, well over priced. Onetigres is better value.
I like your coat, Jim.
Has it got a liner?
All the best👍🏾🇬🇧

Use your French F2 tent…seems almost the same weight. Have fun stay safe.
Think the F2 is more practical to be honest.
Good to see you out in the outdoors again big guy
Thanks mate. 👍
That's why I sold my Terra Nova Zephyros 1... getting in the thing was just too much of a stoop... very similar sort of height to the bunker. Deffo, not a 3 man 😂😂 unless the 3 men work for the circus or a star wars movie 🤔 😁
I agree Lee, 3 men would be a squash and that's without any bags etc in there. 🤔
Bit heavy for solo, looks good for winter in forest sharing .
For the weight and price, I would of liked to see a bit more space inside too.
Could this be setup without the poles using only sticks?
I dont think so.
I'm still kicking my self for not getting a French tent when they had them in stock. I'm not wildly impressed by this type of tent. I hate sleeving the poles.
The pole/sleeve design can be a bit of a pain.
Them poles are not metal and at just over 400 €'s... It ain't for me.

Yes in this case I would say 3 in an emergency, 2 with minimal kit or one guy and gear if doing multiple nights.
They are totally seam sealed and are genuinely waterproof even in very high winds driving the rain in. They're expensive for a reason.
Just bought one brand new £100
Well done! 👍
I'm 6 feet 2". By or not buy?

@@frogmaster83 Have seen it. Bunker or Scorpion. Its difficult for me to decide.
Scorpion in my personal opinion.
but is also short.....?@@frogmaster83
Top Video 👍👍🇬🇧🇩🇪🫡
Thanks for watching. 👍
Bunker? bulletproof? 😉 (just saw the price: ~400 €..... autsch!)
Yes its too expensive. I would not pay anything like that.
My comments keep disappearing on this page. Odd.
Lots of funny stuff going on with my channel lately. 🤔 All out of my control I am afraid.
Just checked the "held comments" section, they are not in there. 🤔🤔
At the end of the day it has poor ventilation and no snow skirt. Polite pass.
I reserve judgment after further testing.
