  • Is CFA in India good for a career | Standalone degree or good 'add-on'
    Data seems to suggest that with a 40-50% plus pass % , CFA will not be able to command the snob effect in an overpopulated country like India
    CA and MBA continue to remain the primary career drivers for Commerce students and CFA is a good add-on, often driven by the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) that will I get a finance shortlist on campus if I dont have a CFA.
    On a standlone basis, say a B.Com only plus CFA, it seems has only moderately ok prospects with KPOs and Equity Firms/Wealth Mgt firms

    CFA Coaching Classes will sell you the certification as a gateway to Investment Banking. However, top IBs offering juicy profiles will only hire from top B-Schools (Probably Top 10 B-Schools and Not Beyond).
    Anurag Singhal has given a fair view and I too feel it correctly depicts the value of the course. CFAs are in demand in KPOs because you need mostly technical knowledge in KPOs which CFA offer you at a hefty price.
    Having Said That One Should Do CFA if you meet at least three of the following criterias :-
    A) You have enough time
    B) You have enough money
    C) You want to learn applied finance from scratch
    D) You need something on your CV

    Sir the most important aspect of this course is not just about passing the 3 levels but also about bringing into practise and getting 4 years work experience to get the charter but most people just target this as an exam but not as an knowledge enhancement course. You are absolutely right that it has become a fashion. Being a charterholder with the right experience will make a CFA.

    CFA is very good course as CFA institute provides best knowledge. CFA isn't a waste of time. It's way better than mid level MBA and it can be done within 2.5Lakhs and for a MBA you need to give minimum 5-6 lakhs that too for a low level college. You cannot just judge a world recognised certification by just searching and enquiring. I've seen lot of people who got good jobs only after CFA L1. If anyone wants to the real scope of CFA in India then watch Sanjay Saraf's video about CFA, he is experienced and has lot of knowledge. Please I request you to not to discourage people by saying it is waste of time and effort.

      @@AnuragSingal ofcourse. Companies like S&P, Bankers bay, and many kpos recruit for CFA L1 and they pay 4 lakhs package. That's not bad and after completing all the CFA exams and 4 years experience they get more than 15L. I talked with many people via LinkedIn.

    I do agree with you that CFA in itself doesn’t carry much weight but to use the passing percentage to compare it with CA,Indian MBA etc is not so apt.Indian CA,CAT and other exams have little financial entry barriers as compared to the expensive CFA, so most of the CFA candidates are serious ones which might not be true with the other exams

  • @tuhinsuryachakraborty
    @tuhinsuryachakraborty Před 3 lety +9

    With due respect sir, I want to tell that for each level of cfa passing rate is 50% but for all the 3 level it's 12% and if we count the 4 years experience to earn the charter. The passing rate below 10% which is justified by any overhyped course like ca.

    • @saidashing07
      @saidashing07 Před 3 lety +1

      Same way if u calculate for ca then overall percentage for ca comes to 1%.

    • @saidashing07
      @saidashing07 Před 2 lety +3

      @Lokesh Jain ,if a person enters frm cpt till final then passing percentage comes around 1%.
      Individual level yes it is 10% which is less than 50% in cfa.

    • @abhishake5035
      @abhishake5035 Před 2 lety

      @Lokesh Jain 0.6 to 1 % to be exact if you clear all CA Levels in 1st attempt.
      Cpt/foundation: 30%(approx)
      Ca intermediate:20%(approx)
      Ca final :10%(approx).
      Therefore overal percentage
      = 0.3*0.2*0.1= 0.006 equals less than 1%.

    Not at all true... first of all talking abt MBA is totally a sales thing... going back to the roots of MBA it was designed for people with already having some work ex... then to climb the corporate ladder for a managerial post ppl went for an MBA... nowadays its jst the opp soo many freshers jst can crack up CAT so they get into IIMs! Like how is that even worth it!
    I have done my MBA from spjain (finance) and even my CFA... comparing both of them anyday CFA holds a vast, incredible amount of knowledge in finance.. I would say while comparing both of the things in finance MBA wouldn’t even stand for comparison... the finance taught in MBA is basically your corporate finance.. you have no depth details of valuations like derivatives, alternatives investments or even fixed income... and how can u compare degrees..its totally a shame... end of the day it all depends on how much you can apply to the practical world and here.. where cfa takes the charge.. talking abt the pass percentage ... yes definitely for indians its easy to pass the exam... but if your aim is to just pass... u wont be able to apply things in practice.. i did my MBA after my CFA L3.. i started working after L2.. i earned 10LPA jst after L2... it all depends on why are you pursuing things.. people will always have different opinions.. and dont forget... CFA is the best thing on wall street... golden thing jn finance...
    And ps CFA is not a degree its a charter... do your research before posting videos

    I can tell at any point in his Video that he is just biased towards CA and MBA. He just glamorizes these 2 Courses and tells other courses are just bad to pursue. And I am not frustrated over him, I have been watching him for more than a year now and I can tell let any course be CFA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, CS, and others. In the World of Globalisation where the World is becoming a common place and eventually Every Job Role would change, and these Conventional Courses of India are just lagging behind to compete with the World. If I talk about CA then, Every CA student knows the Declining registrations of CA course, so this truly says the Demand of the Course and I would not talk about the Discrepancies of ICAI, the exploitation of the Students in Articleship, The reverse Funneling System of Passing the Exam and more. I am not saying CA Couse is Bad but the ICAI being a Government Body is just Ruining the Image, That old Unchanged Syllabus where you just Rote Learn most of the things and goddamn write the same things word to word to get the Marks, That's the maximum exploitation of a Brain. If ICAI doesn't seem to change their perspective then surely they aren't that far from getting extinct.
    This is the reality of the prestigious CA Course. And just think about why an MBA has High Payscale than a CA.
    One thing I can say is the lives that CA made are way less than it Destroyed.
    I am not saying about which Course is Bad or Good and I am just never Biased like him, opening CZcams holding a Screenshot of Job Portals and telling shits..

    I am completely disagree with him. Because he is giving his opinions based on only search work on linkedin or CFA career sites. But, in reallity, the truth is that not all big companies post job updates in job portals specially for high ranked jobs. If you will try to search jobs with his method, you will not get many jobs for CA's also because all companies do not depend on job portals. They have their HRs too.
    On the other hand, the career in any field completely depends on skills rather than degree. If you have appropriate skills along with B.Com only, then you can earn more than those who are chartered holders having no experience or skills. So, in my view, CFA is very brilliant option for finance professionals in India also.

      Indian companies will readily hire a CA who can't speak properly, can't talk in formal language, can't even make eye contact, can't turn on a laptop, don't know a thing about MS office and below room temperature IQ, but they will reject guys like me with high IQ, good communication skills, excellent financial modelling and MS Office skills, hyper-fast learning curve just because I am B.com with CFA L1.

      ...That's why CAs are professional without them,whole finance industry will collapse like Satyam since everything depends on a piece of paper called "audit report".I agree with demand and supply angle though.Then again ICAI can control the results based on the current demand.
