    The United States has a 50-year-old nuclear arsenal. And most of its surface Navy is 40 years old. The B-52 bomber first flew in the 1950s. But maybe the biggest problem of all is military manpower, because the Armed Forces haven't met their recruiting goals for the past 10 years. They have had to disband some combat units in order to fill in others.

      I heard it's drones. They changed warfare. It's like invention of gunpowder or a gun, changes the game. They are too cheap, you can make a lot of them and you can change their course in the air.
      I am not military expert by any means. I always hated to read about war. It's just I want this war to stop and I don't see the way out. So I watch about war in a weird way.

      It's better to see them as a kind of common American perspective that some in the government likely share.
      These kinds of old ways of thinking are part of why Russia ended up attacking Ukraine... Because their national narrative said that Ukraine crawling towards NATO was completely crossing the line. Not that any sane group would let an opposing group gain critical leverage if they can avoid it.
      Still, this way of thinking is born of a world where solutions are often centered in violence.

    Yes! Having China and India lead the way with Russia tagging along might bring PEACE and PROSPERITY to this planet - and we can't have that! Most top US/EU politicians rely on those 'war-dividents' so keep on fighting - THAT'S THE AMERICAN WAY!!!

      This happens to be one of the most dangerous times in the past 80 years thanks to the idiots leading our country from 2008 on that didn’t want to invest in our security. Instead they send billions of dollars to other countries and pay illegal immigrants $50k a year and give them free housing. It couldn’t be more clear that they don’t care about you or your problems.

      You talk like a 1920s isolationist. You must be very old. Your generation tried isolationism in the 1930s and Hitler and Japan came close to taking over the world. It was only US Navy that turned things around. Whoever control the seas and skies, controls the world.

    Trying to directly defend Taiwan is just an elaborate way of trying to force China into attacking Taiwan... The Taiwanese people there want to maintain the status quo. And they should be supported in doing so.
    As for ships... The US already no longer has enough ships to properly patrol global waters... This would all work better if we focused on peaceful collaboration instead... We should not have to defend international waters by ourselves.

    • @muhlenberg2608
      @muhlenberg2608 Před 22 dny

      International waterways like the Suez Canal and Red Sea aren't the sole responsibility of the USA and other countries should put forth a greater effort. The Houthi's are the number one threat to international commerce right now and other nations have put forth only a token effort.
