The aux battery is in parallel with the main battery, so the system can't easily see it if it's disconnected. The theory is these act like one larger capacity battery to better tolerate the ridiculous start stop "feature". As you mentioned, the smaller battery can start to suck down on the larger one which is basically a parasitic drain. The whole thing is silly IMO.
Zero issues with the cable removed and F42 pulled.
That was a great explanation of how the start/stop works and what to do with it if you want/need to eliminate the feature. If I remember correctly the negative cable location for auxiliary battery is now the inner cable. I think it was changed in 2021 or 2022.
Installed a Tazer and have been pleased with the result. It not only remembers the last auto stop button setting but addresses annoying things like the seat belt ding, 3 honk alarm and auto fog light shut off when the hi beams are enabled.
For what it is worth I ran that stop/start eliminator for 3 years with no issues. I did replace the batteries after 3 years. But didn’t have to mess with the stop start.
My love my eTourque..no aux battery.
Take the aux battery completely out. Take the positive cable off the aux and put it on main. Tape up the aux battery negative. Tazer mini to turn off the auto stop start. Done. No problems.
It's insane that GM does have a warning or error code for Aux Battery. My error code reader saw nothing. I was freaking out wondering if this problem is my Alternator, is it my starter, is it my primary battery, is it a mystery electrical issue? I finally tracked it down to the aux battery. Come on GM!

This is just crazy. I have a 2022 Gladiator and I removed the battery cable (the smaller one with the post attached) and the fuse. And the auto start / stop still activates !!!!
It’s running off the main battery.

5 aux batteries in my 2020 Gladiator and still failed I did the delete. Terrible system to cheat on EPA fuel mileage.

The main battery is still the old lead acid type. It can't handle the type of drain downs of the auto stop. Auto stop will shorten the life of a lead acid by about half. That's why the aux batter is Advanced Glass Mat type. They can handle the pull downs of auto stop. Now if you switch your main battery to AGM you shouldn't have any problems. Most new cars use AGM because of all the computer modules that still run after you turn off the engine for several minutes. So pull the fuse and pony up the big bucks for a full size AGM and you should be golden.
AGM = absorbent glass mat.
(Which is an advanced type of lead acid)
If you don't want the auto stop start feature, just put fuse 42 back in. The only issue is that you will have the warning light to service the auto stop start AKA " AVENGERS LIGHT".
This is how i run my Jeep and never had any issues.
I used to have fuse 42 out, but I kept forgetting to press the stupid button. - I hate this stop start system.
PS we rented a new car in Vegas in March. The odometer had 2886 miles on it and the computer reported that auto stop had saved 174 miles of gas in that short time. That's 5%. Nothing to sneeze about.
Yeah it doesnt matter if the defective auto stop system kills your battery and you cant start the car

Rob have you had trouble with either jeep as far as corrosion on any of the latches? I had to paint all four doors and latches on either side of mine.

I'm considering that Auto Stop-Start Eliminator. It is $99 though so I'm in no hurry atm. We'll see how long it takes for pressing the button every drive to annoy me lol.

What does everyone see on the voltage gauge during normal driving ? My gladiator is at 14.0v minimum all the time. This seems high to me
Mine is usually 14.3-14.7.
12v systems usually run at 13-14v volts when the alternator is running and actively charging the battery.
If you turnoff the stop/start function with tazer, why is there a need to remove wiring?
The Aux battery will still draw from the main battery.
It will draw from the main battery/alternator for charging, but since there is never a load put on it, it shouldn't be an issue.
@@cmh2111 I have a Tazer Mini on my 2021 Wrangler JLU Ecodiesel and with 5035 miles my main went dead. Replaced both the Aux battery and the main with an AGM battery. We will see. Still on wait list for the recalled high pressure fuel pump. Unbelievable!
@@allenphillips6442 Check another dealer. The HFP has been out for months. I had mine replaced last year.
