I'd agree with that one mostly. I'm a scent freak. But I do have a bad habit of smoking and/or chewing. All the same, I have deer walk right by me and/or under me every freaking year. Bucs end does. I do sometimes crush apples with my boots before walking in. That can act as a cover scent, but can also work the other way sometimes. Obviously I try to pick my spots carefully, as far as when to have a smoke. Last year, had a bear try to climb my ladder blind. That was pretty cool, a little freaky also 😮😅 the bear got half way up, before I shoed him off, lol
I believe a lot of the mid-age buck change of area has a lot to do with the death of rival dominant buck, and that buck choosing to take over that dead bucks home range because its a little better than his home range. I have noticed, through serious trail camera surveys over the years, that many 3.5 yr old bucks move home range when they hit 4.5 or 5.5, and rather than seeing them all the time on camera, i only get them scarcely in the roaming phase pre and post rut.
I would agree with that. I would also throw in, but dominant buck moving them out, a close encounter with a hunter, and/or predator. And just plain old finding better food source.
With all due respect, I get deer within a few feet of me all the time and not know I am there, and yes, this has happened with mature bucks. That said, I go to a great extreme on scent control. In regards to breathing, I only breathe through my nose when in the woods. So you are VERY wrong, but that said I am the exception to the rule, most people lack the commitment to do what I do. I've even had deer run right by me, almost hitting me.
Great show as always gentlemen. Thank-you!

Great videos, how long does it take for deer not to care about your ground scent anymore? If a hunter walks in, how long does a deer avoid that area?
Hit the like button guys, and gals!
