My mother always had this on every morning when I got up for school. That intro really brings me back.
My grandparents did every morning, my mom was in Fort Mac working..
Blown away. Haven't heard that opening jingle in decades.
brings back memorable tune before school in the morning in early 70s eastport me.
I did the same thing. Such a pleasant tie to simpler times :)
Theme song: Ride My See Saw by Ronnie Aldrich
Sad that June 3, 2016 will the end of the era for canada Am and I never forget the opening theme Ride my see Saw instrumental version by the Moody Blues started the show off.
Cool funky rendition of that music!
Just twenty years after the first morning show premiered the the US. The Today show on NBC, and Canada AM took their clock too.
My dad would have that going every morning. I think he realized the end was near when it was taken off the air.
It's been 44 years for this show
'Canada AM' was the TV program I woke up to in the 1980s, eh!
Helen Hutchinson is the one in this video -- this is the first episode. Carole Taylor was blonde and anchored with Norm Perry.
I don't recall Carole Taylor being blonde. Helen and Norm were the team, I am assuming Carole was gone before this clip because Carole and Percy debuted the show
Canada AM apparently borrowed the “clock on the desk” from NBC’s Today Show, which debuted 20 years earlier.
Never read the Toronto Star review of the debut of Canada AM, but I can assume the reviewer must have said "most awful television".
I know that by 1981 things had improved immensely with Norm Perry and Pamela Wallin, Wally Mocht and others.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure that is Helen Hutchinson and not Carole Taylor, therefore it can't be the first episode.
Correct!
Is that theme song supposed to be "Ride My See-Saw" by the Moody Blues?!?! 😆😆
It was its instrumental cover, performed by the underrated British jazz/easy listening pianist Ronnie Aldrich.
I really dislike “Your Morning”! Although it will never happen I wish they’d bring back Canada AM. It wasn’t broken and didn’t need fixing!
A golden anniversary for Canada AM would have been the ultimate sendoff.
Excalty 29 years later to this date, the Terrible day in The World History
Were they passing around a classic 70s doobie before the cameras were rolling? They seem a little loose!
Canada AM is now cancelled. I'll bet CTV will replace it with junk shows I won't bother watching. This is an outrage. I'll bet viewers like me are beyond angry. Bring back our national morning show. If it ain't broke. Don't fix it.
Actually, 'Your Morning' has been announced as the replacement for 'Canada AM'!
Looks like he watched this show
@@mrceleb2006 Your Morning is a dumb show compared to Canada AM. I still miss it...
