    I have the 400, love it, can barely hear it on the low setting, we turn it up to 4 during sleep for the fan noise, and the HEPA filter takes all of 10 seconds to change. Going on 9 months and the filter is still good as new. Most important, is the filtering aspect. We had a little accident where food was over-cooked when my daughter come home from college. The PPM display shot up to ~150 and one could definitely smell the burnt aroma. After 10 minutes, the display dropped steadily and within 35 minutes, the smell was gone (completely) and the display reading was under 4 PPM. Love it, love it. My advice, don't think about it, just get it .

    Is it possible that the motor noise you were hearing was because it was a 400S and not just a regular 400? I've seen another comment somewhere where somebody upgraded from 300 to 300s (S, meaning the device is "smart" and can be connected to wifi/phone) and after upgrading, their new 300s was way louder than their regular 300. I purchased this for Christmas and I've been very pleased with how quiet and efficient it seems to be. However, I've noticed that every time it goes from sleep to efficient mode, it's VERY loud for about 10 minutes. I thought maybe it does this because overnight the air quality has dropped a bit and it needs to jump into turbo mode to clean the air again, but looking at the recorded air quality readings that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know why it gets so loud and powerful when transitioning from Sleep to Efficient mode every morning?

      Hi Jeff - It depends on the room size, how bad the smell is and mostly circumstance. You want something to move air quickly for smells and if they are strong you may just want to go with a 400 cfm unit like the Levoit Core 600s model. Keep it on the highest manual speeds setting that you can tolerate the noise and if it doesn't work out, return it.

    The 400S offers more value than the 600S. The performance difference is negligible while the price difference is almost $100. Based on Levoit's stats, it will take the 400S just a few minutes more to purify a 800sq ft room than the 600S. Plus I think the 400S is a nicer unit. The only thing I don't like is the method used to change the filter, but that's only once per year.

Ultimately it comes down to speed and design preference. Amazon is currently offering a discount of $30 for the 400S and $25 for the 600S.

    Im back to ask if you have ever tried a Honeywell Power Plus Series or Insight Series Air Purifier?
    ❓️❓️❓️
    I love them for their simplicity, effectiveness (reduces dust), and EASE of cleaning dust off of the pre-filter using a vacuum. Its a fast task. Ive had the Honeywell Power Plus Series air purifiers for at least 3 years running constantly. No issues. They still look and sound good. There is no motor sound, just air, like a fan, even at turbo. I just wish they had a remote, or a remote smart feature to turn them on/off, or adjust fan speed from afar. Other than that, I absolutely recommend them.
    I have this Levoit Plasma Pro 400S too. I have not unboxed it yet. If it's noisy, so be it. I need some type of air purifier with turbo speed filtration that I can remotely turn on from afar.
    But, from my own experience, Honeywell makes a great top notch, no fuss air cleaner. They have a 5 year warranty. At least it says so on the box. Ive had mine for 3 years, all good.

    Hi, I just bought two core 400s, and to be honest, the noise is really annoying.
    Its not the fan itself, but probably the motor, making some high pitch noise.. even on the lowest setting, it drives me crazy.
    Sadly, I think I will return them both :/

    All Levoit products have that noise produced by the internal tubing through which the air is guided, to which is also added a humming noise produced by the engine. No other brand produces that annoying noise!

    i read some amazon reviews and they confirm that noisy motor. that and weak quality plastics and some other regular complains in reviews made me buy xiaomi air purifier 4, will see if thats worth anything, unfortunately in that budget and those features its all lottery of Chinese QA im afraid.
    overall from what i could gather s300 seems much better overall choice, but for me lack of pm2.5 info on display is deal breaker, it may seem like small thing, but i want to see that all the time, not check stupid app everytime, and s400 have too much issues to get it just for display. xiaomi that is then ;

      Let me save you ordering another one, I bought two and they both make that same motor sound. Its nice to know the 300 doesn't make this sound, I wish I had ordered that instead, but I generaly like to get a unit that has double to coverage of whatever room I'm putting it in. I think the raving good reviews on Amazon are shared with the 300 series reviews, as I imagine most people would complain about this motor sound, especially in a bedroom at night. I actually moved it to my office, and I even found it annoying in there when I was trying to work. That's when I packed them both up and returned them. I'll stick with my coway airmega 400s and the blue air 211+ for now. I will say the levoit was the most feature packed and that core 300 is probably a great deal if it truly is quiter.

    I don’t tip mine over I unscrew it while it’s still sitting on the ground using the grip that it has against the ground and then pull the whole air purifier up off of it and set it normally like it would be on the ground and the filter and the bottom just sits where it just was and then you take the filter off clean it put it right back where it was set it down over top of it spinet and leave it it’s super easy to clean it that way even if it’s not it’s forever spot and you use it to move around it’s just easier to do it that way for me and no dust gets kicked around and pushed everywhere when you do it that way

  • @imjamescameron
    @imjamescameron Před rokem +2

    You put the microphone right on it instead of doing an actual real-world test that would be farther from the unit, unless you were trying to capture the TONE of the motor and NOT LEVEL/VOLUME. Hearing degrades over time with age as well. That's not me saying your old, you AREN'T. There are plenty of pseudo reasons as to why we don't like certain things. Some are truly legitimate (like the pre-mesh filter which I agree with), but others won't make a two-beans-worth difference if you are the only one in the room who could tell. I'm happy you liked the product in general, but understand why you had to return it. 🙂
