Today we flew from NYC to the Maldives on a Turkish Airlines Business class flight stopping in Istanbul for the day. We went to the arrivals lounge at IST then took TK's free "Tour Istanbul" around the city for the first time! We spent the evening in the incredible Turkish Airlines Business Lounge Istanbul before boarding our last flight to MAL! :)

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this CZcams channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Children are highly regarded in turkey. They even have a national holiday to celebrate children. I thought addressing the kids on the flight was a nice touch as well.

Just flew with Turkish Airlines on sunday and yes they even had chef for economy class, the food was soooo goood even the vegetarian food! The dessert was the best airplane dessert I have ever had!

Turkish airlines is definitely the best airline I know. I have only even traveled economy but it is amazing nevertheless.
My stepdad is actually Turkish so I liked seeing those things that I’ve seen in my grandma’s house. Also, those kids were adorable, I love how they kept saying hello to the camera.

Yes, you need to spend at least a week in Istanbul, and of course, Cappadocia. You barely got a taste. Be sure to stay in Istanbul's Sultanahmet area, you can walk just about everywhere and tram service is good to more distant locales. I highly recommend Sirkeci Mansion, a small and not-expensive hotel that gives free walking tours each day to different areas of Istanbul.
Dianne, I am exploring the idea of going to Lisbon via Istanbul but due to my agenda in Portugal, I will only have 2-3 days in Istanbul. Can you give me a snapshot of things I may like to see (and smell!) without wandering to far? Thank you :)
Allow 3 nights. I researched a LOT before choosing a hotel and loved the Sirkeci Mansion Hotel. Book on their website for best rates and free transfer from airport (one way I believe, they can arrange a return transfer at a good rate). The hotel has walking tours most days of the week, those are a great introduction to the city and most still appear to be free (they were all free in 2015). Be sure to see Hagia Sofia, the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkopi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. There are many more sights, but those are the top ones and could be done in 3 busy days. You could walk from the Sirkeci Mansion to all mentioned. If you have time take a boat ride on the Bosphorus (tram ride plus walk). I loved Istanbul and I've been to 70 countries, definitely a highlight of my travels.

I love New York and I love the Maldives. I took Turkish airlines first class. Then took a water boat to an island stayed in a water villa. Lived a happy life so far

Lol' On our way back from Bora Bora we decided to upgrade to First Class. not cheap, an extra $3000 but after Bora Bora, we had to finish that vacation off Fabulous. AS someone that doesn't fly easy, I tell ya I went to sleep only to wake up an hour before we landed...missed the whole Fist Class experience....I'll try again someday soon
We just returned from the UK to the US on Virgin Atlantic and decided to finish off "fabulous" too for almost the same amount. I was determined to stay awake as much as possible for the First Class experience...and boy was it fabulous! Bucket list item crossed off!

Thats actually an awesome question. We travel so much that, we'd probably need the answer as well lol.
Fasting can trick the body into a new circadian rhythm. If you purposely fast until your next meal is to be breakfast at your destination, this will signal the body to reset the clock at that meal. Plus, you'll save some money and have zero food-bloat worries and maybe be a tad slimmer ;-)
