Alyssa Myrie I understand him not wanting her to be “spoiled rotten”. However, it may make Kayla saddened or feel like “the black sheep” when Riley and the other children are being treated better than she is and are given more things. That can breed resentment, jealousy and dysfunction among siblings.
Riley didn’t turn out too spoiled, she’s in college wanting to be an entertainment lawyer and has drive.
Kandi likes to give gifts and treat people, that is her love language when it comes to others. And like Kandi said, it’s kinda weird how Todd is hesitant to give Kayla a birthday/x-mas gift, just because they’ve had an argument a few weeks ago. Seems sort of petty, excessive, resentful and going the EXTRA mile to make her excluded.

Todd thinks he's teaching his daughter to be independent, but he's also emotionally detached from her feelings. This distance that he has established with her will not work out well when she eventually dates and or even gets married. Feeling unsupported by her father will only make her bring this into any relationship she has with another man. She may even be financially secure and independent, which is what Todd wants, but emotionally she may not trust a man to fully love and accept her.
