The captain actually had some knowledge of microbursts. He knew they were in a microburst. Cant fault the captain he did everything he could
All three of the pilots had been trained for it. It was a crosswind that made it fatal.

That british airway Flight 9 is a very unique case. I watch the episode. The smoke was from a nearby volcano eruption in Indonesia and it seem the plane entered an area filled with volcano smoke. They made it back, do not worry. Everyone survived. They were on the way to australia.
yeah i knew that and im british
It needed resurfaced and cleaned.
@@Maven0666 the entire airframe was sandblasted, unclogging the engines cost more expensive than buying a new engine
@@waone28 Exactly
Correct and itâs good now they have volcanic eruptions on radarsđđ
I was a teacher who lived near DFW when the Delta 191 crash occurred; I was also on the regular blood donor list for Dallas County. It was nearly the end of summer break, and I remember distinctly that I was standing in our backyard that day, watching the black clouds rolling around and thinking, "This is weird weather. I bet a lot of planes are going to get backed up for a while." Then, I heard our phone ringing inside the house, and when I went inside (the era of landlines hanging on the kitchen wall with a long cord), it was the blood calling me in for an emergency donation. I hopped in my car and started racing to the center, and when I turned on the car radio and heard the news, I knew why they were calling-gave my pint that day, I hope to God it helped someone.
You saved a life with that blood I am sure of it... thank you for valiant effort miss It's nice to hear a another good thing that came from the crash đ
Who know blood which should be alarming can be something to save for
@@jackthorton10 Thanks for your appreciation-I am 65 and have donated 6 gallons since I was 30. I always pray it will get to whom needs it. Best wishes-
@@debmoadd
I think you performed a service comparable to military personnel.
I salute you and all other donors (of course, the people handling the donations and administering them should get an applause too).
@@stevemc01 Thank you! I'm 65 years old and just hit the 6 gallon mark for donations. I so appreciate your comments-
For those wondering. At 21:45 the crew had entered a cloud of volcanic ash that had come from Mount Galunggung. It entered and started to clog the engines. Causing them to shut down.
I saw this story on CZcams, but thank you for the information.
I came to the comments to find out this exact thing. Why the video didn't explain, I don't know. But thank you!
Oh cool

I like how they all wore the belts at the same time. Pro mode on
That flight crew is actually legendary. They tackled those unknown circumstances and made some really good decisions. The engines came back and they landed in Jakarta.
All of these crashes caused incredible pain . Peace to the survivors. we must learn from these accidents and ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure in many cases.
RIP Jerry Chandler (1948-2019). He was one of the best -- and among the most knowledgeable -- aviation reporters in the industry He's absolutely right when he says, "if there is one crash ... that made things safer, because we learned from it, it was Delta 191." It had the biggest impact on airline safety in at least a decade.
Of course it's also true that we can, and should, learn from every crash -- no matter how big or small -- as long as we have the resources to figure out what went wrong and, if possible, how to prevent if from happening again.
Delta 191 was preceded 10 years earlier by another microburst crash-Eastern 66 at JFK Airport in New York (not sure if this program has ever outlined that crash). Those two crashes led to wind shear detection on planes and at airports.
As far as I'm aware, Eastern 66 hasn't been referenced or mentioned in any Mayday episodes.
These are like trailers without any clear endings. Iâm outta here
These *are* just 8 trailers in a compilation, I believe many or if not all can be found on their main or subsidiary channels in their individual form.
Right behind ya!
This isnt an Airport.... no need to announce your departure
Well, Merry Christmas to you too, Smithsonian. Guess I'll reconsider flying this Christmas, since you insist. lol

Really sad that the German investigators somewhat cherry-picked the evidence to make it appear that ice on the wings had caused the crash of BEA 609, and then afterwards refused to admit that they made a mistake and continued to blame the Captain. Even after the British PM had exonerated the Captain of any responsibility, the German investigators still held that he was responsible and the airline never re-hired the Captain.
So sad that his life was cut short by a heart attack a few years after đ„
Stuff like this happens all the time. Watch the video "first Medal of Honor ever recorded". The US Navy Seals tried to prevent USAF Seargent Chapman from receiving the Medal of Honor, because it would mean admitting that Navy Seals left a man behind and didn't help him. Just out of pure Ego.
Same for British Airways Flight 009.
The 747 managed to make it out with no casualties, and landed safely at Jakarta.
The investigation kept going. They found out it was slush on the runway. Physics.

bruh someday allah will listen to u and it might happen in real life. shut up ok?
Between these videos and all the car crash videos.. I've decided to just stay home..forever.
I'd be more afraid of driving than flying. they make programmes about the 1 plane that crashes, not about the 100s that land fine. you're still extremely unlikely to ever find yourself in a plane crash, whereas I've already been in 5 car crashes, 3 of which could have been fatal!
I HATE driving đ
Australian flyers when it comes to snow and ice: whats that?
I can confirm that I'm Australian and I have never seen snow or ice before

It's odd that Australia doesn't get cold weather despite being so close to the south Pole.

@@aliencyborg3660 I used to live in Tasmania and we got snow ontop of some mountains but now im in QLD i haven't seen snow or felt that cold since Canberra, It's because Australia spans so far from the south pole that it has a tropical climate up north and a more wet and cold climate down south past Coffs Harbour and Canberra

Thank You for the reply đđđŒ
Your explaination deffo answers my question perfectly đđđ»
The problem here is that BA9 didn't crash at all, it was beautifully landed by amazing pilots from a very respectable airline.
They had to include it cause itâs called MayDay. Not air crash investigation. A volcano is not safe to fly through and they do affect weather.
Yeah..but is it bad I thought the blue stuff was pretty
can you finish a story before you start another
These videos are super addicting someone help đđđ
Iâm in this state rnđ€§
Never been this quick, since I was born.
So basically, ice on plane = crash
Everybody is gangster until the plane flies into hyperspeed at 21:45
lol
âPunch it, Chewieâ
If you're going to do these kinds of videos with the details like you do, PLEASE include the cause of crash in each one!
You're only leaving people confused because you end it and then go immediately onto to the next scenario and people think they're still watching the one before!
This is the dumbest way to present a compilation.
A lot of people agree with you-and you're right, a little narrative flow from one episode to another would have helped.
I agree
Although I do agree with you, I think the goal of the channel is to get you to either pay for the season or at least the episode. đ€·đŒââïž But a teensy bit of information would've gone a long way with this choppy compilation.
first off its a teaser you have to pay for the full videos on amazon
Agree. They didnât do continental 1713 right. It goes from the plane being ready to take off then right to the next. Very confusing!
Trying to fly through moderate icing is NEVER a course of action!
Damn 191 might not have been bad if he was 40 feet to the right.
I have been in a microburst I stayed calm when my mom was freking out haha
I love watching videos of thunderstorms and then I listen to music I like like delta parole or metallica! Nothing better and more relaxing like that!
i love that guy that says WAY UP
Of these 8, British Air Flight 9 is the only one I know of that DIDN'T crash.
I'm always amazed. Cause I feel like I've seen every episode. Then these come out and I'm like how did I miss that one.

British Air Flight 9 actually survived the incident. Every single person survived. One of the passengers even wrote a book on the incident, and eventually married a fellow passenger who was seated in front of her. That's so insane and so cool.

May god rest all the souls of the people who died in these plane crashes.i send my condolences to their families and friends.xx
So the caused of North Link Flight 5719 is Pilot error but FROM captain not first officer.
So, what was that blue glow and how did it all end? This whole video is disjointed.
It was volcanic ash, and the engines inhaled that dusted and fried them
The video was disjointed because it was a compilation of different episodes/crashes caused by weather conditions.
The plane landed safely .. The engines were back again once they left the ashes .. đ

@@royal__twistt12cringealert91 the fact that this show is still on the air baffles me, because this series has been on since 2003 with 20 seasons.
@@jupitersmoon3033 It's not really that crazy of a fact.
1. This show animates the crashes so people find it interesting almost automatically
2. There will always be plane crashes meaning there will always be something to investigate and talk about hence infinite content

Anyone start binging these types of videos lately?
Yup but now hella scared to go on a plane now đ„șđ
"I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers."
Goodfellas quote? Good movie.
They shoud like make a "No building zone" Around the runway so if theres any plane that cant made to the runway they can land at the grass and not hit a building
For some cities, if that rule was made, there would be no runway because its already too developed, most airports are built AFTER the city is already developed

Okay only if the flight crew had some cameras to get that light show on tape
They were flying through volcanic ash I think- pretty sure I saw that episode before. Yeah- would be cool to see what they saw huh? I bet they were terrified- I would've been. I think I would've been looking for a way out of it but, I don't think they really had time to do that before problems started.

If I'm not mistaken the Gander crash was due to unclaimed weight on the plane, not weather.
Both were factors.
Both. There was ice on the wings too. Caused a stall. Loss of lift.
21:55 they be flying in hyperspace
Who prefers to watch this over "HONE ALONE" or wife's complaining?
Definitely a better choiceđ
Me-love this show and own all the seasons...of course, I haven't stepped on a plane in over 20 years. I haven't had a reason to, but used to do a lot of flying in the 70s and 80s. As flight became more automated and technology loaded, and the seats became smaller and cabins jammed with uncomfortable, impatient, and rude people, I fell out of love with flying.
The ice make the plane crash
Awesome 727
To clear it up, you should not be scared to fly, your chances to crash is 1 in 12 million
I dunno if thatâs true but that does calm me down a little tiny bit
Who all are survived are very lucky
Some dead
In February 1991 I was coming back from Then West Germany and landing there at Dallas Fort Worth airport the plane as we came closer to the airport dropped 10 maybe 15 feet. First thing I thought was here is another flight 191. We landed ok but man made my heart stop for a second. Last time I flew on a plane was 1996 and haven't flown since. Haven't needed to be anywhere farther than I can drive, plus to damn expensive.

On the first one , are the fuel tanks near the runway ? , if so WHY?
That delta 191 captain saw that microburst coming you can tell by the way he said your gonna loose it all of a sudden

When that British flight 7 episode was playing every time they interviewed someone i whould allways see "Da flight Bob" instead of "BA flight 009"
In "Icy Wings: Arrow Air Flight 1285", there's more to it than that. They'd de-iced without letting Tower know, then moved into a take-off spot without Tower approval. The flight waited another 20-25 min until they were cleared to take off, but by then they had even more ice since the weather was so bad.
