I like this method as it's the fastest I've seen, using the dodge tool can also bring out the white highlights as well as painting the white on them. Thanks again for a unique Photoshop method.

I thought so 😊 That is just a body painting. That is not my approach. If I need a superhero suit i would make it in a 3 D software. Like I did the Batman and Green Lanter vs Sinestro. You can see that on my website.
When you paint it, it's looking a little bit fake.

Well that is a very long process. It includes a lot of 3D sculpting and modeling. Zbrush, Cinema4D and at the end Photoshop.
So it would be a few hours long tutorial. And if you already have some basic knowledge about those software 😊

Can someone help me, whenever I click ctrl+E to merge group (the step at 11:08) the contrast changes and the picture almost desaturates a bit, while in the video it does not change at all... am I doing sth wrong here?

Try to hide all the layers except that group, and then click ctrl +alt +shift +E. And then hide that group. Let me know if that works for you...
