  • I wanted to give you all an update on what's happening since our big Christmas reunion with our son. Things are constantly happening and changing and so far (knock on wood) it's all been positive. I did decide to make a request of him and, well, that's where this video is coming from. It's been on my heart to share it with you for quite awhile now and I just couldn't ignore it any longer. Much love! Missy

I m 76. Recently did cpr on my overdosed daughter while waiting for an ambulance…narcan was given…she survived. I’m now taking medication for severe anxiety..I never had a problem with anxiety in my life until recently. Addiction has destroyed our close relationship…she is now a stranger to me. Her recent behaviour has impacted our entire family, and especially my granddaughter, who now lives with me. I’m doing better now that I’ve stopped seeing her. And I’m applying for custody, at the request of child welfare. I support your need for a letter for Aiden…these kids grow up thinking that they can somehow get their parents to change….a heavy load for a child. My granddaughter is 13, and beginning to understand that she is not responsible for her moms choices. But she’s a sad kid…hoping for the fun mom she had a couple years ago to return.

You're right Mama ❤ it's good to talk about this. Get a group going in your neighborhood and talk about this in your community. Get the mayor or governor involved in doing something about this
You may be the one who will save lives talking about this in the community ❤

Being a relatively new subscriber I hadn't caught up with this part of your lives. It hit home hard! We have 3 grown kids. 8 grandkids. My oldest son will turn 43 in April, in prison. His criminal and addiction life started at 16. He stole my wife's jewelry and pawned it. This is a big, good looking, athletic guy with a genius IQ. And for 27 years he's either been in prison or on the street addicted. Just before he went this time his heart stopped. And a fellow addict he didn't even know narcanned him 4 times and he came back. We raised his son from the age of 4. He has 3 other kids in other parts of the country who we'll never know. This one is 20 now. Hate's drugs and avoids his parents for the most part because of it. His mother is a junkie too. He love's the stock market! A eccentric young man who moved in a little house with his girlfriend recently. He just paid $144,000 for a new double wide. With a cashier's check! He gave us $2500 worth of stock for Christmas. I worked for over 44 years and never made big money. So this kind of thing overwhelms me. My point is this. Silver linings come when we least expect them. I am a 3rd stage colorectal cancer survivor. I fought it for a year in 2012-2013. COVID put me in a coma in December 2020 and my wife was told I probably wouldn't be home. Here I am! I'm seeing a trend in our grandchildren's generation. They are shying from drugs because of their addicted parents. I've noticed it for a few years now. I pray I'm right. And we found out at midnight when the new year came in that we're gonna be great grandparents! Be strong. As long as they breathe there's hope! I'm praying for y'all, your son, and your grandson! God bless y'all!🙏♥️

Congratulations on the new great grand! What an amazing way to kick off the new year 🧡 We can't ever lose hope in our children. That's not an option. I agree, as long as he's breathing then there's hope for sobriety, reconciliation with family (his son is most important), and a chance of having a future without the weight of the drugs tearing him apart daily. I appreciate you sharing some of your story. I'm truly blown away by the reactions and comments I've received on this video. Our little support community is growing by leaps and bounds and I'm honored to call y'all friends 💜

Thanks for this video! Been a rough day with my little guy crying for his mama. Both my grandsons had their mom everyday for the last five years and a regular basis and she was a very loving, good mom and then she left around Christmas with her new boyfriend very little contact since. I hardly know the words to comfort them and I am splitting mad at my daughter. Learning to accept and be ok with our children suffering from addiction and what addiction does to them is the most difficult part.

Thank you, my son who will be 43 this year went through his addiction when he was 16 17 years old, thankfully he was made to get help before he ever overdosed. But I went to every local police I could asking for help and all I got was they would talk to him, It was even suggested his older brother help me get him in the car to have him drug tested. I know my son I knew his was on drugs. But it took him missing to much school and having to go to court, I went to his probation officer and told her he was on drugs, he was put into a wayward childrens home until her turned 18. He will tell anyone that was all that saved him, like I said he is in hisn 40s now so I was blessed. Thank you for sharing your story, something drew me to your channel and I am so glad I clicked on you.

Hello Missy, I just seen your taco soup video for the first time today (which I’ll be making over the next couple of days). When I heard your beautiful Tennessee accent something told me to subscribe.
An hour later this video popped up and I knew why. Your are an absolute angel. It takes a lot to try to help and be there for someone who is an addict. What makes you extraordinary is that you are there to raise your grandson. Family first. ❤️❤️❤️
I live in the country near a small town in Ontario Canada. My two daughters live in that small town which has so many people from 13-65 that are addicted to fentanyl, heroin, opiates, and every other drug you can think of. Thank God my girls haven’t got caught in that trap. Unfortunately my youngest age 31 has lost 6 friends in two months. One thing that I found with the friends she has lost was their families had thrown them away. I try to help some of them and let them know that they mattered but they were lost without that security of family. Never give up on your son. As long as he knows that he won’t give up either.
That drugs are so bad here that the police are tell people who smoke pot to buy it from the government pot stores because the was a high school boy that went with his friends to smoke a joint between classes. The young boy dropped dead on his first drag. It turns out the pot was laced with fentanyl which he had never had before. The other two boys weren’t affected because they had used it before.
People often say to me why do you care about these drug addicts and I have always said they are someone’s baby someone’s brother or sister someone’s and her uncle someone’s grandbaby. I may sound crazy but I hold the hope the med beds will soon be released taking away all addictions. This is a Nicola Tesla invention that has been around for years. What angers me the most is that these drugs were created by CIA and royal mounted police. And funded by governments to do exactly what they are doing.
You are a very special lady. Please keep being you and spreading the word because people need to be aware if we are going to beat this.
I look forward to watching all your videos. Sending Love and healing white light to your son, grandson, you and your husband. ❤️❤️❤️ And to all those who are going through the same experience. ❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

I’m a new subbie. Found your channel through food related collaboration but never will you get kickback free m me on the content yiu share on your channel. It’s your channel and your platform to speak on so I’m sorry that other individuals have not been so understanding. With that being said I’ve dealt with addiction nearly my whole life. Both my parents were and are alcoholics (my dad is passed) and my younger brother is a drug addict. When I turned 21 I spent most weekends in the bar getting drunk but it took 1 night fir me ti he completely out of control and thinking irrational to realize I was heading in a bad direction. It was the realization of not being in control of myself and knowing I come from a family of addicts that scared me into stopping that lifestyle in its tracks. I am now 50yrs old and can count on one hand how many alcohol beverages I’ve had since that night. I do nt know that I was textbook described an alcoholic but if I wasn’t, I was headed that way. I have a lot of medical issues that I’ve had since birth that cause severe depression at times and I could very well pick up a bottle to kill the pain and be right back to that young 20 something year old but thankfully I’ve found the strength not to. I have a birthmark that covers most of my face and because of it I’m legally blind so it makes it so hard to understand why my loved ones (mom & brother) who are healthy and have seemingly good lives choose their addictions over my pleas for them to get help. Addiction is not only hard for the addict but it is extremely hard for their family and lived ones that are bystanders watching with nothing to numb their pain. Your grandson is so lucky to have you and your husband Thankfully there are no children involved in my case but your pain of dealing with a loved ones addiction is shared. Prayers to you and your family and thank you for sharing. ❤️

I also even though they are not living in our household, guide them and give them the advice and insight as if they were. I love what you are doing. We have dealt/deal with two types of addiction in our family and it is heartbreaking and hard and gut wrenching all at the same time. I agree with your request/demand made to your son. I really understand the multiple overdoses and narcan issues. My daughter overdosed and died in a Taco bell bathroom. Thankfully she was revived on site with 2 narcan. A 3rd was administered at the Hospital. Her path of addiction has led to multiple overdoses, multiple incarcerations, multiple mental health treatment centers, and multiple relapses. This is year 7 and we are currently estranged for 6 months. I don't know when or if I will ever see or talk to her again but I pray for her recovery and healing multiple times a day. No need to apologize at all! I'm touched by your story ❤️ I'll admit, my hubs was able to stick to his word better than I did in the beginning. We couldn't seem to be able to get on the same page for quite some time. Mama's heart got in the way too often. But once I learned I was doing more harm than good, that all changed. It's a hard thing to do but I believe if I hadn't made the changes I made then my son wouldn't be here now. 😉
