- Glad to see so many folks -- gay and straight -- stepping up and participating in The Trevor Project's It Gets Better series designed to encourage gay teens who are bullied to stay strong under difficult circumstances.
In his, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine discusses the harassment that goes on in high schools and how life improves after the experience: "I hated high school, but if you can get through it, there's a whole world that exists beyond people treating you badly."

Hey Adam. Thanks loads for this video. Currently, getting bullied non-stop this year. Both verbal and non verbal. It hurt bloody much to have names called right in my face. I've tried to put on a strong front and whenever a teacher ask me if im okay i'll always say "I'm fine. Thanks for asking." When in me right in my core its hurting like crap. On somedays i even skipped school by giving some crappy excuses. Because of your music, I've learnt and still trying to let those mean words slide pass me. Its really tough for me, bullied both physically and emotionally. I recently opened it up to my teacher and now to you. It just... hurt damn freaking muh in there. I wanted to stand up for myself but he is just arghh. I hate him loads. i wished i was in another class. I have not only broke down mentally and physically but i always tried and tried to not self harm when i wanted. I thought i wasnt worth it. my life and everything. people may be already judging me for this but I cant take it sometimes. Thanks for all your music and stuff including this video. it means a lot. especially when my family doesnt even know about this crap thats going on in my life. I wish i could meet you one day in Singapore (i know you're coming soon) but i cant be there. I dont have the courage to be there. I just want to thank you. Adam, I've been debating to turn back to self harm. I've been depressed non-stop for the past week. I don't why but this video made me smile for the first time a couple of days.. this made me want to hang on for a little while longer and not let go and take the blade out again... thank you, from the bottom on my heart.

thank you. this actually helped me so much. i’m in middle school and struggle with self esteem and have been bullied all my life. i’ve had off and on depression and resorted to coping through very negative ways and have considered attempting in the past. but listening to your music, even after all these years, still helps me so incredibly much. it helps me escape from my life without leaving it forever. so thank you so much for what you do adam, and this. you have no idea how much you’ve helped people like me and i hope you continue making music. it wouldn’t be the same without you. i love you.

Appreciate this. My son is only in 2nd grade and is already being bullied. He was just diagnosed with ADHD so on top of that he has a kid who think it's fun to make my son feel bad. He's such a loving and likable little guy and doesn't deserve to ever feel bad. I let my son watch this and it made him smile. He is a big lover of music and looks up to Adam and loves Maroon 5. So, thanks Adam, for brightening my son's day! :)

I love you Adam. Seriously. My sister told me I was like raised on She Will Be Loved. I dont care what people say. I have been going through a lot of rough times lately. So one day i youtubed adam levine and i fell in love. Not with just your music but with you. While i was doing all this I found this video and it really idk like helped me. I dont get bullied but thay doesbt mean I am happy because I am not. I think this video kind of helped out with me realizing how to start loving myself and life ij general. Thank you for this. As a gay kid growing up, it did indeed mean a lot when straight people stood up for me. Nowadays, I stand up for myself, and those around me. Thank you, Adam, for instilling confidence in other gay kids who now have the power to protect others from this same nonsense. Thank you for speaking out when I was a kid. What I get out of this is not only the bullying concept, but also the 'it gets better' concept. I'm sick with Mitochondrial Disease, so this is great to see. I'm a sophmore-going-on-junior but only experienced 2 weeks of highschool. Thanks Adam, this is awesome. Gives me something to look forward to when I one day get better(:

This was great of you to do Adem. It makes me so sad that just because someone is gay that it makes it ok to make their everyday life hell. They are people just like you and I and this needs to stop. I would love join an organization or work on a project like It gets Better or the Trever Project.

It's so sad that people have to go through bullying and some people do nothing about it. Fortunately I go to an amazing high school where bullying isn't a problem but I totally understand what people who are bullied are going through and rember to "Keep on Keeping on"

I always noticed that there was the most bullying in the early grades, and that I and others were bullied less and less as the years went by. But I saw the most profound change when I graduated high school and started attending a community college.
I have attended 3 community colleges in 3 states (North Carolina, Oregon, and Washington) and all three of those schools were very welcoming of people of all types and had absolutely no tolerance for bullying and harassment.

Adam. You are my inspiration. I have loved you since your very first song. I remember listening to She Will Be Loved around 10,000 or more times. It spawns so much good and old memories. The fact that you made this, fills me with happiness and tears. You are such , such a great person. Your a true role model. I hope one day I will be able to meet you.

I had a horrible stutter, and in school I was constantly picked on for it. They would make fun of the way I sounded. People thought that my voice didn't matter. They thought, "Why should I waste my time listening to him? He can't even get out what he wants to say. His voice doesn't matter, it doesn't mean anything." But, it gets better. Your voice does matter. I realized I could conquer this speech impediment. This stutter will not control me. My stutter has improved dramatically ever since.

Simply put, it doesn't get better in the real world it worsens you grow to learn to cope but it is not ever better. aw adam!! sometimes when celebs do stuff like this, you can tell its just for attention/to look good/cos everyone else is doing it... but he seems pretty genuine. i was kinda waiting for him to break down crying like "it just sucks so bad guys!! i want to stop it all but i cant!!"
I loved highschool, eventhough I got bullied a little bit in the 2nd year but I made a big group of friends and I loved it looking back
trust me when you graduate from high school it'll be worth the wait!! high school peers only care about what you wear, what you listen to and who you talk to; high school (for the most part) was just about appearence. when your out of that you'll learn that this life is about personality, being yourself. they bull shit it in high school saying "be yourself" when you know you can't, but just wait in college and in work, you can be yourself and the wait for it is so worth it!
a girl in my hometown committed suicide today because of bullying. i wish i could have known her so i could tell her, it gets better. bullying needs to stop, it gets you nowhere and so many lives are gone because of the hurt people bring. it makes me sick to my stomach, there is no need for cruelty, because we are all people, and all have feelings.
