Thanks for sharing - one of my students has just ordered one of these... Obviously there's gonna be limitations at this price on hardware and electronics but your video and playing shows that these can sound and play well. Cheers!
just got myself one of these kits after watching this video, can't fault them for the price, beautiful feeling smooth neck on it. Spent a while today sanding the body down ready for staining over the weekend. Build it next week and learn to play like Bennie Vee then👍
Nice build ;). I have already built the Tele, and the Strat HB's. I changed all the components and dyed the necks and bodies. They look and sound great. Thomann is pronounced Toe - Man by the way.
Good job man! That's a sweet guitar. I just ordered a couple Harley Benton completed guitars. What a crazy deal they are! With the Dollar to Euro ratio at a favorable rate for me un the states it was super cheap.
Great Job man! Just bought a kit myself with other pickups :) Did you use clear coat for the back of the body? (Which kind if i may ask) Looks great man!
hello thanks for your comments I used a Nitrocellulose Lacquer on the guitar I did not use a clear coat the colour on the back is Vintage Amber bought from Northwest Guitars on Ebay I left it as a soft sheen and polished it with wax the problem though is the body can dent if knocked -- a clear lacquer would protect it more have fun building yours cheers ben
Good job! I've done a few builds myself and usually enjoy the process. However, when I've worked out what it actually cost to finish the guitar, I have wondered if it was worth it. Must be even more difficult with the Harley Bentons. £150 gets you a pretty decent finished guitar.
Hey indeed you can buy the same guitar build for a few euros/pounds more, but it is the pleasure and satisfaction of building it. I just bought the tele kit, am stuck for now with the headstock, don't have the tools and craft to do it for now, next week going on a training for tools used (router...etc). Will try the other models as well, single cut, double cut, strat. I have already bought the hb sc custom, the sc 550, the flying v. I also have an american strat, and a carvin superstrat with Floyd Rose... enjoy yours anyway, bought or made doesn't matter at the end, playing and having fun is the main goal. Cheers
GREAT JOB DUDE!! THE RED IS SO NICE. DID YOU REMOVE THE LAYER ON TOP OF THE WOOD AS THE PORES SEEM TO BE ALREADY FILLED WITH SOME KIND OF LACQUER (LIKE WRITTEN IN THE DESCRIPTION ON THE HOMEPAGE OF THEM) BEFORE YOU STARTED COLOURING IT? greetings
+Dick Brett hello thanks for your comments I used a nitro cellulose paint straight onto the body -- rubbed down each layer but on the last coat I buffed it slightly with polish
hello I don't Know what make the pickups with guitar kit are they were unmarked they work well maybe not as bright as some I just turn up the treble on the amp they have been waxed and seem to have quite a punch cheers ben
***** I would recommend not to use any of the electrics from any kit. Get some quality pickups, CTS pots, switches, also some good 18:1 tuners... Otherwise you'll just have a toy guitar.
hello a couple of things --- getting it to tune in all chord positions by adjusting the truss rod ..the action ..intonation . I had to change the depth of the grooves in the nut too---- also make sure you connect the earth wire to the bridge post I had to rewire the pots to make the volumes work correctly
Quote - "the 2 colors don't mix right ..just saying"? Huh!!?? I respectfully disagree broseph, I love the color and as a matter of fact, I'm doing my own LP kit guitar the exact same color combo, love it!!!! We all have our own preferences right? Take care Jack Canada
Its fine...but it would look even better if he ebonized the fingerboard(so that red color will pop out more and the guitar would look expensive).Other than it looks perfectly fine to me.
Factory made Harley benton single cut guitars have a slightly distorted shape for copyright purposes and they look awful to me.This one has a regular LP shape because its a do it yourself kit.
Do you know anybody called Thomas , Thomson , Thompson or Thomkins because you are mispronouncing Thomann you great nut particle !! Th is not interdental in these names. Thomann is correctly pronounced - Toe Man . Just pronounce as if there is no aitch.
Great job, love the headstock art!
Wow, great job man! Sounds great, looks awesome & great playing too!
Might be cheap but it makes the right noises.
Awesome job brother! I love the color!!
I'm gonna have to buy one now!
Thanks!

Looks great! I have often fancied doing a kit.
It looks really nice! I like your headstock logo. I'd like to come up with my own. Sounds good too!👍😎🎸🎶
Neat! Great tone and very good playing.

Just bought a telecaster kit. what kind of finish you put in your guitar?

(the pickups and tuners don't matter I'll replacing those anyway)
GREAT JOB DUDE!!

I can't believe that this guitar costs 80 pounds.... It sounds amazing
Its true thanks
are those the HBZ pickups that came with the guitar??? good job mate!
hello I don't Know what make the pickups with guitar kit are they were unmarked
they work well maybe not as bright as some I just turn up the treble on the amp

ben
cool man, cheers!
nice job brother
cheers
cheers to you .....I am thinking of buying one
Awesome video and job on the guitar - wondering whether to buy a kit myself would anyone recommend??
***** hello yes that's where I bought it from good luck
***** I would recommend not to use any of the electrics from any kit. Get some quality pickups, CTS pots, switches, also some good 18:1 tuners... Otherwise you'll just have a toy guitar.
what did you use to make white decals on black surface? just white decal paper or something else?
hello I bought the decal on ebay
hi,
What was the most difficult part in the process of building it , was it the rod as you mention? Thanks
hello a couple of things --- getting it to tune in all chord positions by adjusting the truss rod ..the action ..intonation . I had to change the depth of the grooves in the nut too---- also make sure you connect the earth wire to the bridge post I had to rewire the pots to make the volumes work correctly
the soldering of electronics is messed up, this is common in these HB kits
The volume is probably soldered wrong. I've build several guitar kits in the past, and in the factories they do this wrong often.
hello yes I have sorted it now its ok thanks for looking
See the John's Coupland Harley Benton Les Paul kit guitar video. He explains how to fix the volume issue. :)
+Grzegorz Witkowski hello yes already seen it and fixed the problem thanks
+Grzegorz Witkowski yea done it thanks
Lucy ???? Harryson ???. Clapton ?????

Akinator Eigin se parece a la que usaban en el video de revolution la lucy de harrison
Was there any lacquer on the body?
HI I used nitro cellulose paints which would shine up if rubbed down and polished
I left it as a satin finish as you can see thanks
I did one of these, it moved my genuine lez p to the bedroom cupboard. £80 against £1800, wake up Gibson.
the 2 colors don't mix right ..just saying?
+loadi2 I like it the only one in the universe

Where did you get the paints from?
hi I got the paints from Ebay
Cool :) Thanks :)
hi ben is it heavy
Is it complicated to do electronics? Please answer
+dino doler hello its easy everything is already wired up you just have to connect it together and feed through the body there are instuctions
+dino doler you should watch a guy called john coupland HARLY BENTON LES PAUL GUITAR KIT he explaines how to put the wiring correct if wrong
+bennievee thank you very much! Do you have facebook or some contacts because I have some few questions
+dino doler what do you want to know
+bennievee about the painting
