- Hello all,
As I am preparing another teaching video, I decided to meanwhile share a few more original compositions of mine.
This one is written back in 2021, but I believe that it represents my current stylistic language. This was a piece I have written after a 2 year break from composing. It was an artistic crisis, so to speak, after my tonal music pursuits were rejected and ridiculed by other "serious" contemporary composers.
I personally do not see anything wrong with writing tonal music, if it is good music. But my style evolved from it into this, as life offered many challenges and meaningful somber experiences along the path to this.
It is a dark piece, thus the thumbnail.
This was my first composition completed in my DMA program.
I drew much influence from Takemitsu and Shostakovich in this piece, you might be able to hear that if you know these composers' music.

В твоей музыке я слышу взмах крыльев, вижу трепещущую бабочку, летящую через огромное пространство. У неё обожженные крылья, но она летит сквозь грозную и неизвестную бездну. Откуда, куда, что пережила...вопросы нарастают, музыка напряженно растёт, словно не желает дать ответ тревожному воображению. Неужели это чистое, красивое, прозрачное и хрупкое создание погибнет...сердце стучит от воображаемой истории в ожидании ответа.
Это ценно и так здорово, Даша, что ты волнуешь, создаешь такие трогательные образы, вызываешь чувства сопереживания, восхищения и, конечно, благодарности за твою живую музыку. Спасибо. Успехов тебе и самых громких аплодисментов!

thank you for sharing your music Daria :) as i’m listening, i am thinking, i am imagining my self walking in a forest, the trees have no leaves, it is a snowless dead winter landscape. It is extremely dark yet you can distinguish the bushes and the trees thanks to the faint lunar light. i am walking with a deep sense of anguish, as if i’m feeling that i’m being surrounded by wolves, being surrounded by an ennemi hidden in the dark waiting to attack me. I keep walking through the forest, faster and faster, i start to hear noises around me, my fears are maybe justified ? something is here with me !!! i start to run, the noises amplify, i run faster and faster. Suddenly, i arrive by a lake, the lake is illuminated by the lunar glow, i feel like i escaped my ennemy, but i still do not feel completely safe. Yet, the lake will do for now … at least until the morning if i see the rising sun after this night …

Really cool piece! I sympathize with your struggles. I myself write tonal music and get dismissed and accused of sounding like Mozart. I don’t see anything wrong with tonal music.

Here is the playlist containing all four movements of my sextet for piano and strings, combining the Mozartean harmonies and formal structures with elements I picked up through working with bands in Africa (long story).

I've been following your channel for a while now and I really admire the content you're putting out. However, I couldn't help but notice that your videos aren't getting the views they truly deserve. Your channel's content is excellent, yet the number of views is extremely low. And channel's SEO score and perfomance is very poor and your channel has no ranked tags, This is why your video views and subscribers are not growing, and the video is not reaching the right audience
What an interesting mind you have. There is a lot of tension and maybe some anger. Inner turmoil. I would not listen to the other "serious" musicians Create what is in your heart and you will be fine. Please yourself.
