I'm glad you made this video, I didn't know you could push heads like that and keep the volume low. I've always wondered what mine would sound like actually cranked up and pushing it. It's spent it's whole life on low. That's it, I'm getting one.
You can always get just an attenuator for much less. I have the captor not the captor x and that works amazing also. You only have 1 setting of -20db tho and it's not Bluetooth but it's also half the price.
I really can't believe how close you get on these tones. If I had room to pull my tube heads out of storage, I'd be all over the Torpedo Captor X for sure!

Yeh i love my captor as well. Another thing i found made things even better was using open back headphones, i use the beyer dynamic dt990 80 ohm. With a touch of reverb it really feels like you’re in the room with the amp.

They’re too different to compare. The 800 is a solid foundation that’s hits hard. All you need is a tube screamer. The DSL has less punch but loads of gain. It’s pretty versatile but needs a little more help with eq’s etc to get the tones to sound complete

Amazing video and kickass punchy playing and amazing parrots as I am a parrot 🦜 lover too. So I have a mesa mini rec and the volume on 25 watt modern is too loud. So I connect the boss ml-2 and mt-2 to the fx return of the mesa mini rec in 10 watt. But it gets too louder on 25 watts. Now my question is can I connect this attenuator with the pedals on fx loop ? Or I still can connect the pedals infront of the amp and then use this attenuator?
Hey Lammy, I have been off put by the 3 way switch / no variable attenuation on that device. You mentioned you put up with it and you seem satisfied. I use a JHS LBAB in my loop just to get a variable volume low in the room. I was wondering if you ever used a Little Black Amp Box in Effects Loop line to see if that master volume function would work along with the Torpedo?
I've had captor x for a few months , now I have 2 amps that have problems hum and maybe some tubes going on me, could captor x be hard on the tubes? I might return this thing and get my amps serviced, seems funny I never had theses issues with amps before this captorx, anyone else?
It’s not the fault of the captor. Your amp is doing what it was designed to do. It would be hard on tubes if you’re running your amp fully dimed but it would regardless of the captor. The captor x absorbs the load of the amp and reacts to the demand. The only reason your amp might wear out faster is because you’ll play it more
I dont like having gear that is reliant on software though... Eg: I have an old digitech RP360 and although it doesnt NEED the app you have access to more settings and options and you cant get the app anymore... It seems to have dissappeared from the internet entirely. Eventually this will happen with the torpedo devices then you're buggered... I went with a Suhr reactive load IR box which doesnt need any apps although it doesnt have an attenuator unfortunately. Although I could get the suhr load box and pair it and I'd be golden... Just way more expensive going that route. But at least there's no expiry date on using it well into the future. Food for thought.

With the remaining budget I can’t decide whether to get studio monitors and play through the amp sims out loud or get a 1x12 and play through the attenuator. (I’m talking about quietish home playing here, and I already have headphones I could use too, but wouldn’t want to only do that all the time). Any thoughts?

If I don't need recording, and I don't have audio interface, I only need to bring my 50 watt amp to bedroom level, the only thing I don't understand is, will build in reverb, noise gate and eq pedals affect the sound from amp cabinet, or these build in pedals only for audio interface and headphones?
Just bought the Captor X yesterday and I've downloaded and installing your presets. I get a message saying I don't have Brit Megacab. I've registered my CapX, how do I get this cab on my unit? I've searched and couldn't find it in the Cabinet Manager? Excellent playing as always, and great to see you're using this as well. Cheers LC
That’s outside of the standard pack sorry mate, I bought that and some Mesa cabs separately. The Marshall 4x12 with V30’s is really good though. There’s loads of cabs to try. I only bought some to compare with my own. They’re bang on 👌🏻

How does the open back compare to the closed back? Was it a clear improvement for playing guitar?

Hey Lamb, what headphones are you using with it? Im using two notes captor aswell but the headphones i have arent doing it justice.
I’ve been using Roland RH-300’s for years. They’re really flat and honest tones.

Is the EVH cab 16ohms? It doesn’t create any issues with sound or possibly tuning the amp?

You drag and drop the files into your Two Notes Audio Engineering presets folder. You access them within the desktop app once they’re in there

Ive read comments saying thay the torpedo will wear your tubes out early due to being able to crank your amp without the volume. Thoughts?
You’re not doing anything the amp wasn’t designed to do to begin with. The only reason you’ll wear them out quicker is because you’ll use it more.

I run it through a powerboard that’s filtered. All my cables are quality and I make sure my guitar wiring is sound with a solid earth
