XD
You just described me there XD Only for the fact that I'm still not getting noticed >:'D
EXATCLTY
no. just slap BL/GL on your webtoon's icon and watch as your views grow overnight.
i think they should get a featured creator who didn't have established social media following prior their webtoon career. someone who's just a regular writer/artist. someone who started from nothing so that many of us can relate to them.
Definitely! That would inspire so many of us :)
IKR
Easy. Become *ONE* yourself and get an interview
@@respectmysarcasm4133 BET IM ALREADY WORKING ON ONE
But that's Rachel's story!
my husband sees me reading Lore Olympus and asks "oh, is that Laura?" and I'm like "what...?"
He's like "is that Laura? Laura Lympus"
l had glance on the name of the comic..
I thought its 'more Olympus'.
XD
My friend was telling me about it, and I thought she said "Mora Mumpus" lol
Austen: “Don’t worry about making it perfect!”
Me, sweating over a misplaced pixel in a throwaway panel: “....what.”
(This video is great! I love Austen and Rachel to pieces and I love the Canvas team for providing all of these resources for the rest of us messy Webcomic creators! 😅💗💗💗)
CHRISSSSSSSSS
Relatable
I’ve convinced myself to start a Webtoon! Hopefully it goes well- good luck to all you guys starting or hoping to start your own! 💕
I wish you good luck with that :) Don’t Stress yourself to much, you can do that :D
@@nee5939 awww thank you so much! :)
What's the name? I'd love to read it!
@@farahexplainsstuff unfortunately I never started the one I wanted to but I am entering the short story competition! It's called "Saving You".
@@mokay1337 I'll try my best to see it! Mine is called Les Menteurs if you're interested (it's okay if you're not) Oh and never give up on what you want ok?
i appreciate this video but i dont feel like they talked much about details on how to self promote, but only emphasizing that its important.
For example, what tactics and media can people use: promotional art, trailers/animations, shout outs, word of mouth and what platforms work best for different types of promotion. I'd also like to hear their do's and donts, as a lot of creators dont want to come off as pushy or desperate n how to avoid this.
another thing id like to hear them speak about is how and when its appropriate to reach out to other creators. steps to guard and build a good reputation. Or how staying anonymous or being very open will affect building an audience.
Alot of creators cannot factor in that a larger creator will notice them and shout them out, and or that they can pull from an existing audience build through a different media. while i highly appreciate learning about these talented creators, their methods and situations will not be options to many new creators on canvas webtoons.
To be honest you are right it was not in detail
Btw what is your webtoon comic name i would love to check it out recently i made one I wiped my tears using your blood which is a spine-chilling horror comic with epic fantasy, mystery and crimes if you think we can support each other then do tell me peace out!!
@Mimosa _Hanin_ Vermillion yeah sadly, i mean i would like to know how to link our social medias and is banner art only for the featured artists then if we one day fortunately get featured then how will we be shifting to originals? dose shifting to originals cost u money? and are we supposed to delete canvas first then shift? most importantly how much subs we need to get featured and what steps can we take to get featured quickly except for Ad Revenue what platforms are the best in bringing traffic to our webtoon comic ? you know what there should be groups in webtoon where we can share our comics i guess it would help us anyways that's all of my Qs ig but dos and don'ts would be awesome too!
I'm fully with you on that. I was expecting a little more detail and some new tips other than "go on social media and promote yourself. have fun!" and as you already said, getting featured by another big artist is something that rarely happens even to amazing artists / webtoons. So many gems stay hidden on Webtoons Canvas.
I've been meaning to start my webtoon but these past few months I've been telling myself "I have to have an art style!" "I have to know how to draw this! Everything has to be perfect!" But after listening to this and other webtoon creators/comic artist in general I'm just going to go ahead and start, a lot of creators say that art style will evolve further down the line when you're making comics especially if you purposefully draw stuff that you're bad at, and for that I can say it's true! I've seen webtoons go from Discover/Canvas to Originals/featured and their art improved immensely! If art is something holding you back just start it, you'll get better with time. I hope to read some of your webtoons in the future!
Blazingle I say the same thing for myself and I have started! Please go for it
Blazingle I also told myself this and I made a webtoon recently to
@@blckcommunitycommentator7307 i planned on starting some surface level world building from today to the end of this month, of course with a mix of character sheets and story development, what's the name of your webtoon I'll check it out!
@@lemalemalema if it's up on Webtoon right now I'd love to check it out!
Blazingle I would say just start. I was worried about the art style thing too but tbh it will grow through time and if you don’t like it you can just reboot it
How to get popular on webtoon:
1. Say your comics a romance
2. Make the art style look like a manga or at least an imitation of one
3. Get featured within a few days
XD
Wow that really works wish I did it for my webtoon it's called served btw
chioko l Ikr, kinda sad I didn’t think of it.
how do we get featured btw?
Caramellow make a decent story with decent artwork and just kinda hope for the best.
@@historicstudios2708 okie thanks.... but can i include mature content in it and still get featured? lmao if that makes sense
*comes running in after hearing lore Olympus and hears the owner’s face reveal*
We need a optional notification system for comments and likes on canvas!!
I agreee
God yes. I didn’t realise I was getting this one guy comment on all of my posts, then one day I went through and responded to him and he immediately started backing me on Patreon. I don’t want to have to go through every single comic I’ve done every single day just to see if someone’s commented to I can engage with them properly and have a good time. It should be immediately visible.
@@cosmodious1755 Gosh I agree!! I keep opening the chapter every few hours to make sure there isn't a new comment I left, I don't like leaving people like that but it's a lot of work :(
I don't read either of these webtoons (yet), but as a Canvas creator myself, it's really cool to hear pointers from professional creators.
I tried social lots of media but It's so hard to self promote specially on reddit, they hate original comics/manga/webtoon, It's still miracle that Oh My Ghost has 25k subs in webtoon~
I love Webtoon and recently started a comic of my own as well! I've always wanted to make comics buy never have. I've been a long time reader on Webtoon and one day I was like oh, hello! I should finally just do it and do it on Webtoon! Thank you for making this platform! Looking forward to the next videos!
Hi! I made my webtoon is called "Deep Sweet Romance" by zhamurai , It's BL :D .....please check it out :3
What's your comic called?
Another advice - Dont make long stories. Start with something short like those 1 chapter one shot mangas (10-30 pages). Then work your way up to a 5 chapter story then a 10 chapter story. Just build your skills.
Soo like publish short stories that are funny ect... For having expierience while you develope a long story so you sttart to know how things work ect..? ( sorry if there are some grammar errors bc english isn't my first language)
*already well into my 2000 page epic*
welp,
@@potato-ok3cg Yes. I think it's best to start with short stories to gain experience and practice your story telling then work your way up to longer stories. I say this because many webtoons I followed just stopped updating-never to be completed and I haven't finished any of the stories I started (which feel long). Now, I'm practicing my writing and visual storytelling with shorter stories that won't take more than 3 months or less to complete
@@azoth8031 lol well props to you!
That advice dont work for everyone there's plenty of people that can get into a long story just fine
I started my comic Console Her because of Rachel ngl. Her passion is contagious.
This is so beneficial to me. I'm trying to create my own webcomic. I can't wait to become a creator on webtoon with my own comic. :)

Metalbeast2 Heh! You and your best friend are super talented. I really like that webtoon :>
Hey ik this is late but any tips on making a long term collaboration webtoon? I have my idea characters themes story pretty much everything thought out I just need an artist to collaborate with
@@ewitsandrew4097 I’m not sure on how to hire an artist for your project, hun since I’m the artist behind my series lol my best friend is the writer and we just pitched ideas back in forth with one another until we came up with our webtoon . I wish you the best though!
Creating a brand is hard because in the beginning I tried only posting things relating to my comic only but ultimately just post various artwork but still my webtoon.
I love Lore Olympus with all of my being. I can't-

I recently started my own fantasy/romance comics on canvas : it’s called Nemesis! My artist name is @sharpkatsudon if you wanna find more about it on Instagram! :-)
I really aspire to make a full time job of my art like Rachel did for Lore Olympus, love how she managed to reach so many people with her story and art !

Hi! I made my webtoon is called "Deep Sweet Romance" by zhamurai , It's BL :D .....please check it out :3
It's also good to keep in mind the audience that uses Webtoon. What appears to be popular genres? Not that you have to copy what's popular, but if you can incorporate elements that can work for your comic then I bet you'll have a stable audience in due time with plenty of dedication.
This video has been pretty inspiring. I have recently begun to work on a webtoon, and the challenges are indeed high since I'm not an artist. Still, it's a lot fun and I love breathing life into my story.
I am having a difficult time getting my sister and I's webtoon out there cause neither of us has a foothold in social media. We are private people but would like to get our story out there. I am the writer and my sister is an amazing artist. I would like to know how to grow from scratch...can't find many places to promote ourselves passed family and friends.
Oh and our Webtoon is called "Count Your Doubloons".
You guys are an inspiration to new authors like me! Im finally going to put my stuff out there and I believe Webtoon is the best platform for a newcomer like me to make their splash in the community. :)
Rachel Smythe looks like Kore. Awww.
That's what I was thinking 😭💖💖💖
These are actually my two favorite stories on WEBTOON.
Thank you for sharing advice with creators like ourselves!
I have started my own webtoon today, and honestly its really exciting and fun! I love working on my art knowing that someone somewhere will enjoy it! I suggest you go for it if you are wanting to make one!
(My comic is called "the crazy adventures of the sweater gang" which is about my ocs)
This was so informative and inspiring! I hope they continue to make videos like this
Solid advice. Love Austen's hair 💚
I hope anyone who is starting a comic will become big! Good luck! I’m even starting my own. It’s called Let’s Burn
Is there a way to add both the writer and artist to a webtoon? I can't seem to find an option to add two creators.
You can’t right now. All you can do is mention them in the comic description or make a little social media card at the end of each episode with their information.
I’m not very popular online... But I have been working on my series for a long time, and I love it so much. It has been my dream to create it and publish it. I’m still working on the first chapter, but I have the timeline of all the events almost complete.
Soul on hold is one of my darlings already.
Okay but Rachel GIVE US JUSTICE FOR PERSEPHONE KORE *shakes fist*
This was amazing! I'm just a few chapters into my canvas series but this was so much good info, that k you!
LOVEN ALL THESE HAIR STYLES!!!!!
I just made a web toon called on a borrowed moon! I have been drawing for a few years now but never really made any content!!! And I say just do it is the best advice Even though I don’t get a lot of traffic or subs or anything i still learn so much from working on them and I feel like every episode will be better! Sometimes I worry about the numbers but then I think about what I’m learning and how it can help me to do better with my next webtoon!!!
This has really helped me alot! it's so scary to start but i have too cause this is what i really want to do.
I really want to make a webtoon and Rachel is one of my biggest inspirations ❤️❤️
Aight, I'm convinced to be starting my own. 🙏
Honestly, Rachel Smythe really is the real life Persephone 😍❤️
I'm publishing a series called the experiment but I totally failed promoting thing and then followed buy my laptop being a bitch so I took a hiatus after only 3 chapters 😂😂😂
Now I feel that I really wanna go back so bad 😅
ive recently started on webtoon! thank you for the advice
Really good advice on presenting yourself and being confident
😢 I love their work soo much!! I've also tried to make a comic that's on canvas which I started like last week
It's called "Just Relatable Things" 😉
*I LOVE THESE WEBTOONS, OMG I-*
How can the two of them be this gorgeous!
omg the way rachel and austin marie interact is so fucking wholesomeeee
I have webtoon! It’s called Debt Collector but it’s so hard to get it noticed and I’ve worked hard on the first three chapters! it’s about a college kid who becomes a villain to pay off his student debt. I haven’t updated in a while because not many people seem to like it :/
I like the plot.. I will check it out..keep working your work will be noticed. 😊😊
I liked it. :) Keep up the good work. Consistency is the key. Always remember that you have to start at the bottom to work ur way up. 97 subscribes are still counted!
So I'm starting the journey of creating a webtoon. I have a major story I want to do in about a year to year and a half, and in the meantime, I'm going to be starting a small scale story for practice. I'm calling it "Oops: Accidental Ruler" and TLDR, it's about a villian that accidentally takes over a country while the hero that normally stops them is on vacation, and what happens after. It's going to be comedic with a little bit of action. Would anyone be willing to read a story like that when I release it in 3-4 months?
Yes! Go for it!
concept sounds good
Omg i sooo sooo needed thses advises. I just gone so worried about growing my audience and now i found. It's a great thing to me to get encourage. I just publish my new comic today..But i Didn't get the much likes or viwes. And i gone soooo disappointed on myself. But now i think shouldn’t disappointed like that. I touched this to see if it would give any useful tips on how to promote my Webtoon. Let's see.
I just published two comics on webtoon, which are 'Words' and 'Is this life worth living or dying?'.
Never thought about even going for comics and art stuffs in my entire life but Webtoon just helped me a lot in my life. So I bought a wacom tablet, lol I thought how hard cud it be ? I just have to DRAW. Man did i realise its so hard. Especially drawing hands... Oof. It has been 1 yr still I didn't improve a lot. Just give it a read please☀
I hope one day my baby will make me proud.
It's called JOINED TOGETHER.
I've been working on it for years
This is very helpful thank you
Lol I had Webtoon tor a while now and I finally made a webtoon on there called Seastar Crossed Lovers
I'm half nervous and half excited ><
It's basically about this merman prince and this human girl ^^;
This'll come in handy for me soon! 🌚🌝 Thanks a lot, ladies!! 💗✨
Thanks for sharing this. The advice with seeking (or better NOT seeking) perfection and spending hours on individual panels really speaks to me. I tend to get really obsessed with details and trying to make things ‘perfect’....yet, months later I cringe at my own drawings because....they aren’t as perfect as I wish they’d be. It’s still a problem I have to overcome somehow ^^ . My comic is ‘in SECURITY’ (two words) on Canvas and I update daily. Please feel free to check it out :)

1) write a romance.
2) release weekly

That was pretty helpful
thanks for this video webtoon 😊
I suck at digital art and dont really understand it. Can i start by scanning my art for upload, while i take time to learn digital art, and how do i do that for webtoons?
You can scan it. If you're more comfortable with "normal" art, then do it! 😊😊
i see other people epicly putting their webtoons in so i will too, aperion on canvas. it only has one episode so far but im nearly done with the next one and im excited to post it :)))
WEBTOON!!!
I love story telling and drawing. i am a good writer but not so much an artist. i try though and i finally got the courage to get a webtoon up and I am having fun with it 90% of the time but my art is lacking and so i get self conscious at times so i have to remind myself that it's for me first and if anyone else likes it then that's a cherry on top.
if anyone is interested in collaboration I am a good writer if we have an artist who'd like to start something short. just for the fun of collaborating
When everyone looks so beautiful
Sorry a bit late to the party here! Hopefully there's some of you still around watching this to possibly answer a question I have. How can a writer find an artist? I'm wanting to transition from a TV spec writer to writing a couple originals I've had in mind for Netflix. I edit scripts for working and produced writers, but I just don't want to write American TV anymore. So, I thought I'd start with webtoons, since I'm extremely influenced by Korean Dramas---and no in LA can understand what I'm talking about when I tell them about a 16 episode season formatted like Korean dramas. Out of frustration, I'd like to write a Webtoon, but I have absolutely no talent in drawing. None. Stick figures. Maybe. Maybe not even that. Their heads are always lopsided because I have an astigmatism. My themes are typically mental illness / forming relationships despite the hurdles. Lmk. Thx. :)
Hey, I'm off to school rn!
Thank ya
6:05 the problem with this is that I HAVE to do that otherwise OTHER people will do it, which I strongly dislike. It doesn't really change the way I think or feel about my art, as it's kind of like a self-reflection but I WISH I didn't have to do it because I prefer to stay more private about my growth.
I want let's play ep 11!!
I’m starting to draw my first webtoon. I hope people like it :((
Love both comics but miss Rachel your comic if you haven't noticed but there's some people screen reading your comic it's that epic
I’m currently waiting for my email verification can’t wait to start reading books and stuff
yeah i got u guys but still iam so confused about how to actually promote myself without any hold on social media. I recently started my web comic bit the thing is its neither romance nor in the typical manga style. i tried to develop my own style and instead of choosing a colorful pallette I picked grayscale palette. Now I fear is this a wrong decision. Nyone please help me out! Its called the ordinary saga.
Chimi and RJ is there❤
It is ridiculously hard to get noticed on webtoon. My comic is called "The War Among Us", I've been working non stop between drawing and promoting but the people that actually "make it" are a 0,01% probably. Webtoon Canvas does not provide a way to actually build an audience, it's all about... I don't even know what, luck, I guess?
@aho this is extremely helpful, I'll fix it as soon as possible, thank you so much!
I just started my comedy webtoon, that I humbly think is pretty funny to read, but it's very hard being noticed when the site and people are interested only in romance webtoons and maybe there are lots of good ideas/ stories that nobody notices and it's a pity...
7:26 let that sink in my fellow art fam. Let it. *Sink. In.* :,)
