I have so much to say about this episode! He's so right. Being at home, working from home for almost 2 years, my creativity has exploded. It's so nice to walk into a home that's not all white and neutral colors. I'm stealing so many ideas from this colorful home. I've become obsessed with Schumacher! When being a basket case actually adds peace to your life. They're wearing the same print, but who wore it better? Susanna wore it better. Sorry love, but you can't beat a colorful floral pattern with a crisp white pant! 😘

It’s unique for him but I find it a little to much I just couldn’t focus on anything it became overwhelming in the end I had to abandon watching .The different strokes for different folks .🧠🧐

I think my house might be transformed after watching this.....for years I’ve put things I love away in closets, drawers, boxes and attics. Time to start bringing them all out and enjoying them, no more matchy-matchy for me after seeing this glorious explosion of creativity. Channeling Mr Hartig, and Sister Parish.......maybe without the acid, but hopefully with style! Love!
I love the way Susanna always enthusiastically dovetails her design knowledge conversationally into the visits to bridge the gap between the property and its complexities, and the viewer. Here she has a cool mindmeld with Johnson.

Wow! I love how Johnson is so fearless with use of color and patterns. His home is the total antithesis (sp) of the white on white trend. I find this much more interesting. "The basket house"....I love baskets, too. Hanging them on the ceiling is very smart. Thank you for another fun and fascinating house tour! :)

The "STOP" sign in the green sitting room is a reminder to not just walk by but to sit down! Love all the bold colours and the trees in the bedroom. The wisteria is a dream. Also love the tiles! The dogs are perfect for that home. Fun and creative cottage-like home! Love it.

The red Queen Anne Chinois dining chairs were made by my family's furniture company, Brunovan, in the late 50s / early 60s. It was so exciting to spot them in a Quintessence video!

Johnsons mind is always busy working. Very layered in depths. I love his quote unquote "He's a basket case". I couldn't imagine you both wearing any different shirts for the interview. I love wisteria myself. I sort of had a feeling of walking into a living Van Gogh painting!
The house is fabulous... the creativity is rambling on and on and on... can not get enough of his bravery, and confidence in his designing.. love❤

Johnson cracked me up when he said that he just noticed the price tag from the auction on the mirror. I've been buying and decorating from auctions for a couple of years and it's such decorating fun. I've gotten classic and very expensive pieces for pennies because often people like buying cheap from Ikea.
And it's the ultimate form of recycling!
@@quintessenceblg Oh absolutely it is. AND I've picked up inexpensive quality little tables, refinished them, then flipped them when I get new pieces that I like better or to make some extra money. I recently finished an upholstery course and have been reupholstering and refinishing chairs in awesome colors. Johnson mentioned Amazon for fabrics, but I also love picking up wonderful fabrics on Etsy. I also grab boxes of vintage fabrics, napkins, table cloths, etc. at my favorite online auctions. Oh...and pictures. Geez...I'd better stop or I'll go on and on and I need to go finish decorating for Christmas with the HUGE box of vintage mercury glass ornaments that I recently picked up for $5

I’m so glad I discovered the word maximalism to help validate putting things you love around you, and celebrating walls instead of white washing them into oblivion. That little guest room is a sumptuous womb.

Maximalist Hartig has all other maximalists beaten! I think he took his cue from the garden that obviously pre-existed his ownership of the home. Every spare inch of the garden that we saw was stuffed with plant material. Would love you to do a tour of that one day Susannah. Just all mad but marvellous!

So true..the pandemic inspired a burst of creativity! I wallpapered my powder room, painted and re-decorated our master bath, painted a French door red..scoured so many vintage deals that now hang in my space!

Bonjour Suzanna and Stacy, What's not to love about this guy ! He sure express himself with easy, he is not afraid of being/decorating "over the top" ; he just goes for it ! He collects objects, he showcase them, he mixes patterns and colors but in the end everything is fun, cozy and vibrant at the same time. He has a place to live and enjoy, that is my feeling. He dares, for example he takes clothes fabrics and makes curtains with them and voilà. He is a living inspiration ; love it ! Thanks for sharing, girls. I enjoy his enthusiasm and the fact he seems to care less what others think. For me personally that is what makes a home a home. Rather than a cookie cutter, hobby lobby or stuffy 'follow the rules home' it is unique and fun for others to spend time in.
