      You should check out a movie called The Labyrinth, if you haven't already seen it. It's one of the best, weirdest movies from the 80's. Directed by Jim Henson, starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie, with a soundtrack by Bowie that is crazy fun.

      Agree with everything except Superman imo is the greatest of all time. (Batman is the coolest most badass
 punisher and wolverine make that list) But something about Supermans optimism and desire for humanity is quite beautiful. He literally helped give me a moral codeas a child. I love how Russel Crowe’s Jor El in Man of Steel actually says all of that! “You will be a symbol
 give humans something to strive for
 they will stumble, but you can show them the way Cal”

      I really enjoy MCU for what it is and do tend to geek out over it more than DC movies. It's just entertaining and hits the right spots for me. Rewatched the Nolan trilogy recently and it's pretty damn good still. Of course I have some reservations which have maintained in persistence since my earlier watches but nothing that breaks the enjoyment really.

      @@TheChiraagG: the varying DC films over the years have varied wildly in consistency and quality. Their animated films tend to be better on average than the live action superheroes, Nolan trilogy (the very best live Batman) aside.

    Yes, that was the kid who played Joffrey.
    Bruce's training to become Batman has varied some over the 80 years of the character's history, as his origins has been retold and reinterpreted numerous times by several writers over the years. To explain Batman's seemingly inexhaustable skill set, his training usually included various forms of martial arts and fighting styles, gymnastics, forensic science, criminal investigation, and even escape artistry. In some versions, Bruce was also trained by The League Of Assassins. Their name was changed in this film to The League Of Shadows, as the director felt that Bruce wouldn't intentionally join an organization that has a name that implies murder.

    • @bradleymay5350
      @bradleymay5350 Pƙed 2 lety +4

      lol mhmm. That's been one of my favorite elements about the Batman mythology. Like, back in the 30's he had what? Some martial arts training, a car and a keen intellect geared towards forensics.
      But as the decades pass and the stories keep ramping up, Batman is now fighting multi-universal threats with teammates who have god-like superpowers. And so, in order to plausibly say that 'this very mortal human being' can go toe-to-toe with deities he now has like quantum super-computers, Schrödinger's utility belt, extremely specialized training for literally any conceivable circumstance and some of the most bonkers bleeding edge technology. That's in addition to having like a 12th level intellect and a body trained to the theoretical limits of human capabilities. And it just goes on and on.
      Hah and i love it! Realism be damned, it's just so much fun. The same could be said for comics as a whole, but legacy characters like these (and Robin Hood and Jesus of Nazareth and Sherlock Holmes and so forth), they're like a whirlwinds keep building as they're retold and refined over the decades and centuries. These iconic stories keep getting polished and they become so engrained in the public consciousness until they're larger than life myths. It's a neat phenomenon.

 Dr. Jonathan Crane’s backstories typically involve a lot of familial abuse and vicious bullying. He becomes obsessed with fear and making others feel it because he himself was afraid for so much of his childhood. As an adult, he specializes in psychology and chemistry. He is brilliant, sadistic, and best known for being using his hallucinogenic fear toxin. He is often depicted as being able to fight, though it seems like this version can’t.

    Batman is actually more moral than Spiderman. Just in films Directors have an annoying tendency to show him killing. Batman is well known for his compassion!
    I was more into MArvel as a Kid, under 8 or so, but the more comics I read, the more I realized the superiority of DC's storytelling, their villains, and their universe, is grander, poignant more epic. The DCEU is devoid of everything that makes DC great!

    • @idgafanymore69
      @idgafanymore69 Pƙed 2 lety

      That's very debatable. Spider-Man's usual naivete opens more to morality while Batman is really a borderline Punisher. Besides, the not killing part isn't as much of a big deal as you may think it is nor is it the pinicale of Batman's character. I've learned that myself in time. There are quite limitless depictions a fictional character can go.

    • @bumpercarjoe6391
      @bumpercarjoe6391 Pƙed rokem

      Actually I love the DCEU (except for the Wheadon Justice League)Man of Steel was awesome
 the 1st WW and Aquaman were really good. Shazam was ok. Black Adam was really good! BvS was pretty cool too. The fight was just like the Miller “The Dark Knight Returns” until the “Martha” incident. But if you think about it, Marvel phase 1 had its duds too. Second Iron Man and Thor, First Cap, Second Avengers! What saved them was the hit a HR with Avengers, and Winter Solider. And then after a so so Ultron hit another homerun with civil war!
      There is still hope for DCEU.
      And I agree, as a kid I thought DC comics were infinitely better than marvel (characters, illustration, universe, bad guys) The only marvel I liked was Punisher & Wolverine. Maybe Hulk & Spiderman (especially the crossovers)
      People forget marvel stumbled too. Buut they had some really great casting! They did just kill off the two best characters though and now making a bunch of trash!

A lot of the most advanced military vehicles we have are commissioned by the government to private corporations who build the stuff ... the jets, the tanks, the missile launchers, etc. Again, I know you were just playing devil's advocate, but a normal car with four wheels and a thruster on the back, in my mind is analogous to the "...that's the way it's always been done..." line I've been given at work every time I had a good idea they'd never heard of before. Thank goodness Nolan didn't give a crap about how ANY Batman story had been implemented previously. He didn't abandon the story or the characters. Nolan just turned "Batman" into a virtual documentary about a real person in a real city with a real backstory on why he is the way he is.

    I am so excited to see you experience this series. Also, I'm sure people will mention it, but Chris Nolan is noted for loving to do practical effects and stunts. So the jumps you see, the Batmobile, all real, all created to interact with the world. The stunts he does in some of his movies are so cool.

    This is such a great film it's my favourite Nolan Batman movie the main reason being Gotham City and overall tone and feel which was missing from The Dark Knight. Even though i find Dark Knight to be the better movie in terms of story and characters it's Gotham was the weakest just looked like Chicago because it was Chicago. The Dark Knight Rises also suffers from that same problem just wasn't a fan of it's rendition of Gotham City but still enjoyed the film overall wouldn't call it awful at all.
    Here's my personal rating below for the movies my personal opinion of course but they pretty much changes places a lot lol mostly my top 5 favourites.
    1. Mask of the Phantasm (DCAU "DC Animated Universe") - Highly Recommend, Love this film If you want that retro old meets new 1930s look then this movie is for you based in the Animated Series it's an isolated story so you don't have to watch the show to understand it. Can watch right away as well as it isnt connected to the live action movies.
    2. The Batman (Reeves Verse) - Favourite Live Action Batman film just amazing film with an amazing rendition of Gotham gave me massive Arkham Knight vibes my third favourite Gotham behind the Animated Series and Tim Burton’s. Have a feeling you will love this movie maybe more so than The Dark Knight.
    3. The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & 2 (Base on the Comic) - Love this film still can't decide if I prefer the comic or the film as both are amazing one of the few comic adaptations to be regarded as being better than it's source material. This was a hard pick as I really love these two films hard pick between The Batman (2022) and The Dark Knight Returns.
    4. Batman The Dark Knight (Nolan Verse) - Amazing film but it's Gotham is by far the weakest filmed in Chicago and just looks like Chicago which is my biggest problem with the film. But of course the story and characters make this film.
    5. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (DCAU) - Great Movie the setting is also very unique set in the DCAU but the setting puts a nice spin on it.
    6. Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (DCAU) - Recommend so much love the story in this one very emotional and is by far the best rendition of Mister Freeze. Also set in the DCAU but it's also a isolated story.
    7. Batman 1989 (Burton Verse) - Love this film mostly from a visual standpoint just such a fun and unique film.
    8. Batman Returns (Burton Verse) - Really love Batman Returns far darker than the first film and dives more into that Gothic artistic.
    9. Batman Under The Red Hood (Based on the Comic) - Great movie set in it's own continuity just like Batman The Dark Knight Returns.
    10. Batman Begins (Nolan Verse) - Love this film by far Nolan's best Gotham but the sequel in terms of villain and story is better.
    11. The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan Verse) - Fun film but the weakest in the Nolan series for me.
    12. Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 & 2 (Based on the comic's) - Really love these animated films but just so many other better films but it does have that fun 1930s vibe to it along with showing a younger side of Batman his first being a detective very The Batman in these regards. Pretty sure The Batman was inspired by Long Halloween comic's along with Year 1 etc.
    13. Batman Forever (Joel Schumacher - Tim Burton Verse)
    Batman Forever is technically apart of the Tim Burton films. Not a bad film but I personally don’t mind it.
    14. Batman & Roblin (Joel Schumacher but is very disconnected from the Tim Verse) - Meh as a kid i kind of enjoy how over the top it was but the campy stuff was done so much better in the 1960s Batman had more charm to it. This film very much damaged Batman on live action film for years until Nolan's Batman Begins. The DCAU on the other hand kept us happy throughout the late 1990s lol Only element i liked about this film was the 1940s retro looking police cars along with it's version of Gotham City.
    Out of the animated stuff i highly recommend The Mask of the Phantasm and The Dark Knight Returns both films you can watch whenever don't need any other insight on Batman to understand. These two films are so overlooked by reactors for some reason only seen a handful of reaction videos to these movies which is a shame as they're so good.

    I know it's a tongue-in-cheek comment on a movie, but it's interesting digging into the "not saving someone when you could is morally the same as pulling the trigger" idea. In the real world, current estimates are that you can save a human life for a bit under $4000, by donating to the most cost-effective anti-malaria charities. If we go with the "not saving someone when you could is the same as pulling the trigger", aren't we all, then, the equivalent of paid killers, willing to kill for $4k a head?
