- In this trip report video you get to see Germany's latest bullet train, the ICE 4. I did the trip in March 2023 in First Class starting at Köln Hbf with Hamburg Altona being the destination.
In this video you also learn about Germany's railway infrastructure and many places along the way. Enjoy!
If you have suggestions for future videos I'd be very happy to read them in the comment section below. In case you have questions about the trip please feel free to ask them there as well. I read all comments and answer most of them. Thanks!
That theme song gives mo so much nostalgia when I used to watch your older videos! Nice to see that you are back! Nice video!
Thanks for watching, that‘s nice to hear the music is kind of nostalgic.

Very nice and interesting video! By the way - you started your journey in the city with the - by far - worst beer in Germany, maybe even in whole Europe 😉!
Then you will be happy to hear that my next video will start in Frankfurt a. M. But give Kölsch a chance 😅
Thanks for watching and your great feedback , it is much appreciated.
Welcome to this video! So what do you think about the ICE 4 and the German railway system that in general?
nice video, but the ICE4 IS NOT THE NEWEST nor the latest high speed train in Germany. That title must go to the ICE3neo which is in service since december 2022 and "not only an updated version of the old one" but actually a real new train. (not considering ongoing the new Talgo made ICE L which has been ordered and will enter passenger services approximately in 2024)
Hi, thanks a lot for watching and your comment. It‘s kind of confusing, please allow me to explain my reasoning: Regarding the numbering the ICE 4 is the latest ICE (newly developed ICE I shall say), but the ICE3neo is the latest to have been introduced within Deutsche Bahn.
My understanding is that the ICE3neo (DB 408) is based on the Velaro platform, just like the DB Class 407 that has been in service since 2014.
So I believe it’s not really a completely new train, but the latest version of the Velaro family. That‘s where my explanation is coming from 🤷♂️
I see your point though and will explain it differently the next time. Maybe I‘ll make an animation showing the different ICE trains.
Also thanks for mentioning the ICE L, I would love to make a video on that in future.

Can you put up the arm rests between the two first class seats? I know you can put up the one on the outside. Just not sure between two seats.
I just recently traveled on an ICE (I don’t think it was an ICE4 though) and if I remember correctly it was possible. I will re-check it on an upcoming trip 🙂

have you stopped making videos ?
No, absolutely not. The number of videos that I am releasing has always been limited due to the complexity of animations and research that I do for each of them.
So I release videos whenever I feel they’re ready. Additionally, I am working on new formats, that I will announce soon. If you enjoy to travel, just stick to this channel 🙂

It's not a product, it's a service. As in Air Service. Not Air Product. Same with trains. Travel is a service that one uses, not a physical product that one purchases. It's not your fault - it's a current mis-use by English speakers, probably introduced by marketing geniuses.
Valid point! Seems I’m a marketing genius 😅
