The reason this 1989 Buick Park Avenue was junked. It sounded Grandpa and Grandma's house too long and they died and the kids went and sold it to your scrap yard. Or it was a donation car and bought through an auction
I would agree, the late 80s through the 90s Buick had the Riviera and Park Ave. Ultra, two supercharged V6 cars that were considered quick for that time.
That’s true because my grandma had one. I asked my grandpa why he didn’t buy a Cadillac instead and he said that the Buick was a much nicer and better car than a Cadillac. Man I miss those people..😔
I had one of these park ave ultra in my early 20’s I can’t remember the year exact 1990 ish but it was this body. It drove like a Cadillac , the 3800 will run for ever ! In there day it was a very nice car!
That Park Avenue, what is a sweet ride in its day. I was a car salesman for 20 years and whenever we got one of these Buicks or Oldsmobiles one owner cars, they sold so quickly. That 3800 motor was indestructible.
Don't trust anything carfax says I got screwed by carfax on a car from a dealership car was in an accident 3 weeks before the dealer got it and car fax was clean when I bought it but 6 months later carfax updated its system and all of a sudden my car had been in an accident don't trust them at all
I live in the south so we don't have rust buckets. About 3 or 4 months ago I seen one like this. It HAD to be garage kept because it was like new. There were Alabama plates on it and was merging onto the interstate. Pristine is the only word to describe it. It was maroon and beautiful. I have a 1990 Oldsmobile 88 sitting under a car cover, it's in excellent condition in and out, but has a bad engine. It runs but not too good, spun bearing? I'll eventually get another engine for it. The engine is identical to the one in the Buick on the video.
Your Olds probably had the 3.0 liter V6 in it .The 3.0 liter had bearing issues That 3.0 liter came in the Delta 88 & LeSabre & in the lower trim levels of the Ninety Eight & Electra/Park Avenue. That 3.8 was indestructible though had a 96 Park Avenue with close to 200,000 before I got rid of it 4 years ago needed something new but yeah those GM C & B bodies were great cars back in the day
An old friend of mine had a ‘84 Volvo 240 GLT. As much as it struggled on startup, as soon as it did it was one of the best rides I’ve ever experienced. Volvo comfortability is unmatched.
I owned an 88 Buick Park Ave. Was the best car I've ever owned so far. It's been 13 years since I've owned a vehicle. I drive a Ford Expedition and I like it. I LOVE driving that vehicle. The couch I got fits a in the back of it.
Had a LeSabre T-Type that did the same exact thing. It was a wonderful car. 3800 that never died and it had the digital dash which was pretty sweet. It also had digital climate control with an automatic setting. Everybody has that today but it was extremely rare back then. The car I had was very similar to that one but it was white. Same dashboard and even the seats were similar. I ended up getting rid of the vehicle with 312,000 MI. I took a job where I drove my own car but they had certain regulations and rules in order to get reimbursement in my car was too old. Bought a Impala with a 3800 in it and drove that into the ground for almost the same amount of mileage. Somev years later I found out it ended up in the family of an older man who is a single dad and he gave it to his oldest kid to drive to school. Of course within months the kid totaled it but walked away from it. I never knew them that well personally but a friend of a friend knew of them and filled me in on all the details when I asked. I would wager a bet that the poor owner of that car is either having a health concern or possibly one of them passed away.
We had an 89 Buick at my High School that was a donated vehicle. The outside looked like crap from the weather, kids skateboarding on it, etc.. But when I left there in 2005, it had less than 100 miles on the odometer. It spent its whole life driving back and forth 50 feet or so from the parking lot outside of the shop.
I just sold my 1995 Buick Riviera got it from an old lady 7 years ago. Had the 3.8 supercharged engine. Fully loaded, sun roof, heated seats, power everything m, ac worked great. I sold it for a thousand bucks. That’s exactly what I bought it for. It only didn’t start one time after driving thru a deep puddle it got the old cracked crank sensor wet. Replaced it myself never died again. That thing was quick too.
From the carfax, the first owner was a senior. The second owner got it in 2017 and used it as a daily driver. People usually get these for dirt cheap, do bare minimum maintenance and once something big breaks they junk the car. This owner struck gold, got 6 years out of daily driving this car before it died.
I met a guy in town who still keeps his running. I almost wanted to buy it from him. He’s had everything serviced right. Reminds me of my parents 85 Park Avenue.
My ex in-laws had one of those Park avenues. That car was a fucking tank. Thanks brother-in-law bought it one night and he like to hang out and some sketchy parts of town with some sketchy characters. Well one of his buddies about it to go to the gas station , decided to steal some stuff, got chased by the police went through some ditches and all kinds of rough stuff. They used it as an extra car for another 5 or 6 years after that. Everybody drove that car.
There is this elderly man that drives an old 89 Park Avenue Ultra and I see him all the time using it as a daily driver. Last time I spoke with him he said it had 291k miles on the 3800 v6. Gm should’ve never discontinued that engine, it was powerful and efficient on gas and they were bulletproof.
I currently own a 1990 Buick Lesabre Custom is has 190k on the 3.8v6 it's the same car with minor changes! Mine is powder blue with a white vinyl top! They are truly nice cars
When i was a kid we had a park avenue identical to this. I always thought it was cool because this was the same time that the viper came out and it had a forward opening hood. Hell, I'm from Illinois too, that might be our old car right there.
Those God-forsaken plastic keys! My wife - who at the time was my girlfriend - bought a brand-new Mazda 323 Protege in 1991. The dealer was demonstrating the plastic key, and broke it off in the lock cylinder. The dealer gave her the keys to a sh*tty old 1987 Renault Alliance to commute to work in until they could order a new door lock cylinder. I was livid!! Some memories just never fade.
A long time ago, AAA made a plastic emergency key like that for me, IIRC you were only supposed to use it to unlock the door, because it might break off if you tried to start the engine with it
I had a 91 Cavalier RS for about 4 years (May of '03 thru Aug, '07). Looked almost exactly like the one in this video. I miss how reliable it was, and how it was light on ⛽ consumption... only sipping from the gas tank at about 25 MPG.
My dad had a 89 Buick Park Avenue in silver. Thing was a plush ride. Funny thing though, at 88mph the digital speedometer would stop counting. If you went faster than 88mph, it would just flash 88 at you LOL 😂
The VFD electronic dash in these are wonderful. Use it in a hot rod/roadster car as it uses old school analog sensor inputs (no CAN bus) for all the gauges.
unfortunately 10,000 of these AT LEAST have been destroyed in movies and tv shows since the early 90s. the 3800s are god damn bulletproof. I miss my buick. Wish i never sold it. Don't even remember why I did.
The owner of the Park Ave most likely passed away a few years back and it just sat in some ones drive way, or back yard for since and who ever owned it just sold it to a scrap yard to get rid of it.
Oh, a 89 park avenue with an impeccable service history, a clean interior, and straight body? Ya, someone's parents or grandparents died.
Or frame rot
Or they got too old to drive😂don’t gotta be so dark all the time damn
Could've just been taken care of too. Not everyone is wasteful.
Give it to me, I'll put it back on the road and use it as my daily driver
These cars were bulletproof.
The reason this 1989 Buick Park Avenue was junked. It sounded Grandpa and Grandma's house too long and they died and the kids went and sold it to your scrap yard. Or it was a donation car and bought through an auction
That 3800 came in everything and it was indeed a rock solid engine!
Those Buicks were much better than Cadillacs from the same era.
I agree,i had both and would take the buick everytime..
Cadillac is the worse GM product. Pontiac made better cars
I would agree, the late 80s through the 90s Buick had the Riviera and Park Ave. Ultra, two supercharged V6 cars that were considered quick for that time.
That park avenue was luxury and power, very nice car if fixed up
That’s true because my grandma had one. I asked my grandpa why he didn’t buy a Cadillac instead and he said that the Buick was a much nicer and better car than a Cadillac.
Man I miss those people..😔
Rode like a dream, would get up and go and lots of room inside.
These definitely still exist because of that motor
That Buick has the " 007 " Option Hood . It flips up and it becomes a Bulletproof shield .
They sold a lot of them in Chicago .
🙂🙃🙂🙃👍
Made it easy to work on the engine
I have a 1986 Buick LeSabre just like this sitting in my backyard. The hood opens the same way as this 89 Buick Park Avenue
VERY LITTLE RUST!!! TRY TO FIND SOME WAY TO SAVE BOTH?!?🎉
Those old cavaliers are nice. The one after it was cute but pure garbage
That Buick still looks nice. I wonder if there will be anyone interested. Parts will be an issue.
I grew up in that exact car, but in blue! my grandma had one. It was also in excellent condition until the day she died.
It opens like a Corvette, sir
I had one of these park ave ultra in my early 20’s I can’t remember the year exact 1990 ish but it was this body. It drove like a Cadillac , the 3800 will run for ever ! In there day it was a very nice car!
The 3800 is an amazing motor. Over 30 miles to a gallon on the highway. I guess I am.an old guy. Over 70 years old
That Park Avenue, what is a sweet ride in its day. I was a car salesman for 20 years and whenever we got one of these Buicks or Oldsmobiles one owner cars, they sold so quickly. That 3800 motor was indestructible.
*THANK YOU FOR DOING A CARFAX*
Don't trust anything carfax says I got screwed by carfax on a car from a dealership car was in an accident 3 weeks before the dealer got it and car fax was clean when I bought it but 6 months later carfax updated its system and all of a sudden my car had been in an accident don't trust them at all
Looking to buy something similar if you’re willing to hold onto it for a week or two?
I was 63 when I learned this . Today!
Granny had one air shocks in the rear, rag top with the light markers it was clean!!!
Best car

There are all kinds of good condition old cars in Alabama. I live in Alabama and see them all the time.

@kennethmeadows2844 nope it's the LN3 3800.
I'm still not sure how I stumbled across this channel but I really enjoy your content
An old friend of mine had a ‘84 Volvo 240 GLT. As much as it struggled on startup, as soon as it did it was one of the best rides I’ve ever experienced. Volvo comfortability is unmatched.
These cars are so wonderful. I remember my grandma driving us around in it. I would just fall asleep in the backseat
My mom had 87 Buick Lesabre coupe thar had the hood opened like that
These old cars exude decadence of an era long past. I'm obsessed with them
110,000 miles on a 1989 olds 3800 that's not even broken in. I love that awesome engine.
I owned an 88 Buick Park Ave. Was the best car I've ever owned so far. It's been 13 years since I've owned a vehicle. I drive a Ford Expedition and I like it. I LOVE driving that vehicle. The couch I got fits a in the back of it.
That’s a bonnet not a hood

Front hood like this are a pain too work on!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
I met a guy in town who still keeps his running. I almost wanted to buy it from him. He’s had everything serviced right. Reminds me of my parents 85 Park Avenue.
I remember road test a Pontiac Bonneville that was almost the same
I want to buy it
My mom had an 89. That was a very comfortable ride and dependable too.
I miss those 80’s and 90’s cars
Ahhh The memories That was my 1st car We call them Short Bodies. Never had any issues with mine rides smooth
Even though I’m 23, I must be an old guy cause I absolutely love the 3800
AAAH YES, THE GOOD OLD DAYS. 😌😌. I BET YOU THEY STILL RUN AND DRIVE DESCENT.
I'm old, and can confirm that is a great engine.
The Hyundai Excel also opened like that. So did a lot of Renaults, Ladas, etc.
3800 was the best motor though. Series II supercharged was God tier.
My ex in-laws had one of those Park avenues. That car was a fucking tank. Thanks brother-in-law bought it one night and he like to hang out and some sketchy parts of town with some sketchy characters. That was definitely one of the best motors of all time!
Aaaahhhhhhhh I miss my 86 Buick Century!!!!!!!!! T Type Babyyyyy
Hey hey hey, woaah. Best v6 from gm ever
I bought a new '93 Regal Gran Sport Sedan. Buick Roadside Assistance sent me one of these wallet keys. They were a great idea and worked perfectly!
I love this cars we had one growing up
My parents had a 90 park avenue just like that one but red that thing was a awesome car.
I currently own a 1990 Buick Lesabre Custom is has 190k on the 3.8v6 it's the same car with minor changes! Mine is powder blue with a white vinyl top! They are truly nice cars
The 1975 to 1980 AMC Pacer had a hood that open like this. So did the 1957 through 1959 Ford Galaxie 500. End the 1971 to 1977 Toyota Celica
We had an 85 Park Avenue. Great car.
I had one of those buicks. It had over four hundred thousand miles when it finally quit running.
When i was a kid we had a park avenue identical to this. I always thought it was cool because this was the same time that the viper came out and it had a forward opening hood. Hell, I'm from Illinois too, that might be our old car right there.
I commented before the carfax, definitely not our old park Avenue, but still identical to it.
I had a 92 Corsica that had those plastic keys. They should still make those!
I need that Cavalier...Really good Demi car..
Fun fact the trunk hinge was going to be designed to be opened from the rear aswell.... but plans were scrapped at last minute
Ohhhhh man! I would so love to put thos ePark Avenue seats in my mini van! I'd be King Cushy Butt for sure!
Those God-forsaken plastic keys! My wife - who at the time was my girlfriend - bought a brand-new Mazda 323 Protege in 1991. Coo 😁
Man those things were so reliable.
God I had an 89 pork avenue in highschool. Leather interior and every available option but a sunroof.
I had a 91 Cavalier RS for about 4 years (May of '03 thru Aug, '07). Looked almost exactly like the one in this video. I miss how reliable it was, and how it was light on ⛽ consumption... only sipping from the gas tank at about 25 MPG.
I had a 98 park avenue that was amazinggg
Yooo my first car was a 1991 buick regal ! Love my buicks !!!
That 3800 was a solid motor
My sister had a same year park avenue, with 380,000 miles on it in 2003. She sold that car with like 430,000 miles for $800 in 2005
Ironically, I had an 89 Buick LeSabre. And the LeSabre, the Park avenue and the Electra were literally the exact same car.
I had a cavalier like that blue one, same color but a 2 door and I got it with only 12,000 miles on it in 2018 haha
I'm 30 something and I think it's the best American v6 ever made
Had a 89 LeSabre T-type red.. loved that car..
i have one of those old rear seats in my livingroom
My 1989 LeSabre had a clamshell hood and a 3800 as well.
My dad had a 89 Buick Park Avenue in silver. Thing was a plush ride. Funny thing though, at 88mph the digital speedometer would stop counting. If you went faster than 88mph, it would just flash 88 at you LOL 😂
My parents had an 88 Le Sabre with this same style hood.
This is really cool. I love your channel. I'm in Ohio, otherwise, I'd come check your place out
Hello, fellow Ohioan!
@@dancline2143 Hey!
I remenber those hoods when I had to check the oil ib them at my dad's gas station thought they were cool like the jag hoods
Once he sat on the plush chair, he cleaned it up and drove it home.
The Buick, LeSabre of the same vintage had hinged hoods as well.
Couch looks like material into the dead box so can be one in case of accident 😂😂😂
I had a 1985 Buick Park Avenue a long time ago and those hoods were a pain in the ass.
The VFD electronic dash in these are wonderful. Use it in a hot rod/roadster car as it uses old school analog sensor inputs (no CAN bus) for all the gauges.
Yeah, till it goes out on you. I bet that’s what happened here
That would be a great project.
I had a plastic emergency key for one of my cars. Can't remember which one since ive had a bunch 😂.
He said they don’t exist while looking at one found that funny
Those 3800s are tough my wife had one in a Bonneville
I only worked once on one of those park avenues.
I bet that park Ave can be brought back to life for less than about 1k.
Buick built a nice car back in the day.
Your vids are awesome !!
Glad you like them!
This cavalier deserves to live
1985 to 1990 Park Avenues and 1986 to 1991 LeSabres all had the forward-tilting hoods.
That 3800 needs the supercharger for sure
Interior is beaaaautiful
unfortunately 10,000 of these AT LEAST have been destroyed in movies and tv shows since the early 90s. the 3800s are god damn bulletproof. I miss my buick. Wish i never sold it. Don't even remember why I did.
Probably because you wanted something with a CD player ?
The owner of the Park Ave most likely passed away a few years back and it just sat in some ones drive way, or back yard for since and who ever owned it just sold it to a scrap yard to get rid of it.
