- Lately I've been needing more and more gelli prints for projects in my art journal, coasters and on canvases, but I never seem to have the "right" one that isn't on paper! It's been frustrating me, so I decided to sit down and just create a large stack on deli, tissue and rice papers to use in my daily art.
Join me live - bring your Gelli Plate, paints that you love, stencils and texture making materials. Let's craft a bit together! :)

Magenta goes with everything!
I finally started with my new gelli plate ! My grandson was over and I got him involved and he was a natural. He took home
20 or so fabulous prints.
I absolutely love creating on my gel plate and it’s so addictive. I wish I had more hours in the day to play with my gel plate.❤
I need your stencils!
You astound me with all your gelli plates working at the same time.
New to art, into everything and always need something else???!😳
Great tutorial!
Renee from Oregon.
I like the idea of multi-gelplates
Hi. I'm watching the replay (a year later) and I've been making prints with my gelli plates 🙂 to add texture and backgrounds to my art journal pages.
Hi I looking from Denmark. Just startede print 7 days ago
You have a little fairy on the smaller paper. He has a yellow hat and a yellow shirt two dark eyes and a big smile. He is on top of a flower
Great video! I live in Raleigh, NC. I'm mainly a fiber artist but I recently decided to get back into junk jounaling and art journaling which is how I learned about Gelli printing. I'm waiting for my first plate to be delivered and I can't wait! For now I will have to be content with watching your videos.
Myrtle Beach, SC here!
Southern Oregon here, December 23rd. 👋🏽👋🏽 Hello! Loving my new Gelli plates.❤
Watching on the replay.... Yes, I do sometimes just look and look at a few of my best pulls, I have my favorite as a Screensaver on my phone so I can see it aallll the time lol.
Some are just mesmerizing. Glad it's not just me....lol! Thanks for watching! 😍😘🎨
It's funny..we'll, actually cool. I went back and looked at a bunch of prints I made the other day (when i was thinking ' oh wow I've made too many😂). And I saw soooo much possibility 😀😀
Oh wow I’m from Rhode Island too lol obviously just a little ways into the video but liking so far.
Beautiful prints. So many possibilities. I don't think I have a favorite as so many of them are masterpieces. Love them all. 💕

First time here and love your techniques with the gel plate! I am from Canada and am now inspired to get my gel plates out, it’s been quite a while! ❤
Hi, I’m here on the replay! Excited to watch and learn. I used my plate for the first time a few weeks ago and I have a lot to learn😂 thank you for sharing your talent.
So glad you broke it out!!! Enjoy all the prints and thought process. Let me know how your next prints go!!! 😍😘🎨
Excellent video. You love what you’re doing and it is inspiring!
Hi I live in the UK only just discovered you . Great fun going back on all your videos. I’m new to the Gelli printing so want to learn as much as I can . Really enjoying this new art x
Watching video...Northern Nevada... Thank you for inspiration and lessons
Very late to watching this but so enjoyable - so many ideas for using a gel plate x
Watching from Raleigh, NC. I bought my first gel plate about 2 months ago and have been slowly learning and trying things. Thanks for the video!
The last pull is a wow. Liked all of them
Oh I'm so glad you loved it Ruth!! Ya, I didn't think that one was going to be anything, but it's gorgeous!!! Definitely making at least one coaster from it. Thanks for watching and commenting chickie!!! 😘😍🎨
Another newbie. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Wow what a lot of interesting pieces you’ve created. So much to learn and absorb
Thank you so much for the sciencey explanation of why to wait for the pull. I have not seen that before and I have not had the best success. The fan is a great tip! I will have to watch this video in bits and pieces but looking forward to see the rest and your other videos.
Waiting for the pull is amazing. I encourage you to step away, work on something else and then pull. It's AH-mazing! Enjoy. :)
Things to use, Dry Wall Tape, Mash Pot. masher, rubber bands, paper clips, needle point plastic mesh. I have to go now, but enjoyed it.
I am watching from Brewster, Massachusetts. My son lives in North Carolina and loves it.
Hi, I am from Oklahoma. Just started creating backgrounds for cards with my Gel Press. I am really enjoying your videos. You explain things so well. I can’t wait to learn more and incorporate stencils and textures. Thank you!
Hi Tabitha! Glad you're enjoying your gel press. Look around your house for texture and mark making tools. You probably have more than you think!! Glad you're enjoying them. Thanks for watching & commenting. 😘😍🎨

Hi Ingrid, I'm in Dickson, TN. Pulled a giraffe off my gelli plate tonight. Just playing around. Enjoyed your video.
just started a few months ago with a small gel plate and recently purchased a larger one, which i haven't used yet. (a cool plate is not dry)
Love IKEA. We go on the way to Branson from Iowa. In MO. Sometimes we pick up the things we buy on the way back.
Hi from New-brunswick, Canada! ☃️
Bulk tissue paper from Uline. If you go through your holiday stash too quickly.
Watching the replay here in Winnipeg, where it's -14 C, which for us is in the not so bad range. It's also very dry here, certainly inside buildings, but also outside at these temperatures, so dryness is a factor to consider when using a geli plate.
Bonjour Ingrid, je viens de France et je te découvre aujourd'hui. Merci de tes conseils, je vais avoir de quoi faire dans les prochains jours. Bonne journée... Bizzz
Hello from Italy! Just getting out of a crazy heat wave 🥵
Bongiorno! 😘😍🎨
Hi, I’m in Derbyshire in the UK and I have a question? What do you use to stick your gel prints into your art journal and how do you stop your pages from sticking together? Thank Shirley ❤
@shirleywells-turner8562 I see that you never got an answer. I’m no expert, but from the experts, I’ve learned that they use matte medium to adhere lighter weight papers and use GEL matte medium for heavier weight papers.
Ive also heard that a light coating of beeswax helps stop pages from sticking together. I have not yet gotten to the point of doing art in a journal, but I think that you could search for a CZcams video on preventing sticky journal pages and see what comes up. I hope this helps!
Fyi..At Michaels craft store right now they have BOGO HALF OFF. I just bought 2 gelli plates my 8x10 was $27 my 5x7 was $9.
Hi Im from Alberta . Im new to Gelli printing ,I certainly glad I came across you channel .Thank you for sharing your knowledge I’ve learned a lot from you ,thanks ever so much !❤️👍 Does baking paper work fo this ? ❤️❤️
I’ve just started this morning to do Gelli prints for the first time. I know you have to do some prints to “wake up” the new plate. What I’m noticing is a few things I can’t figure out. I’m using Liquitex so it’s not cheap paint. The paper won’t stick to the plate around the edges, then it wrinkles. Sometimes the brayer will lift the paint off just when I’m applying it for the first layer. Does climate have anything to do with performance? Or cheap brayer? I’m using normal copy paper. Not a good experience for the first time. I’m sooo excited to going on this. I’ve watched a kazillion videos (I love yours!). I’m in a relatively dry climate (Calgary, Alberta, Canada). Argh!!! I tried to do an image transfer. The image was printed with a laser printer, so I know I did that right… I don’t get it 🤷🏻♀️
Do you collage with the deli paper gel plate sheets?
What type of glue do you use to adhere your gelli prints to the journal pages? And do you use that same adhesive to the entire journal page?
I really enjoy your videos. Have you ever made your own gel plate. I attempted to make one and the paint doesnt want to dry. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Beautiful prints Ingrid. Very inspiring. I too use the prints as collage. The deli paper confuses me, do you print on the waxy side? Sorry if I missed it if you already mentioned it.
I print on both, but I prefer the matte side for collaging. Thanks for watching Giovanna 😘😍🎨
I have a question. Is there a specific reason why you use heavy body paints on your gelli plate? It seems to take such a long time for those paints to dry on the plate before you pull the print, so I’m wondering if fluid acrylics would dry faster and therefore allow you to pull your print without having to wait so long for it to dry? I use heavy body paints myself, but I am considering switching over to fluid acrylics so that the drying time is much shorter. Your thoughts?
Great question. I use a combination of both, but mostly heavy body acrylics as I get more open time. The faster they dry, the quicker you need to work. Neither is right or wrong, it's just what you're comfortable working with. I also get great crisp results with heavy body paints. Try them both and see what you like. With heavy body, if you keep the layers light, they do dry pretty quick. The more you layer though, time does factor into it. I also use a small portable fan to help speed things up. Especially in the humid summers here. Hope that helped! ;)
Can I please ask 2 questions as a newbie? Don’t laugh lol, ok first with the deli paper, is it waxy side up or down on the plate? Also where can I get a coaster size plate? X x x love your channel so much
It’s Jan 31 now and I am brand new to gelli plates! Really fun but I don’t know what I am really doing yet! I like the little fan and of course I already ordered my second plate so I can keep going! I now have a 5 x 7 and a 12 x 9” plate! Here in Colorado it’s really dry but right now it’s just so cold!! I do watercolor and junk journaling and everything else so I thought that it’s time to try the gelli plate. I got a set of metallic paints and they are super fun! I am wondering how you do not get the lines in the paint from the edge of the brayer? That seems to be my biggest problem so far!! Glad I found you!! Thank you!!
🎉practice 😂❤
@@margueritemitchell1829 yes, definitely that and a larger Brayer too!
@@donnacarraway9182 we had some in art school that were about 2 inches in diameter... I was going to try a silicon rolling pin ...but it might be too slippery 😎
Hello from San Juan del Sur Nicaragua
where did you get that little battery operated fan?
I have a couple questions (newbie gellier here), 1. Does quality of roller matter? Obviously rubber is the kind but there are lots of different brands on Amazon. 2. Air humidity matters right? I run a dehumidifier in my basement and from what I've done so far I have to move really fast!! When I watch videos, I'm always stressing out because the makers are talking so much and I'm urging them to Get The Paper Down!!! Anyways my question is, Because I keep my basement low in humidity could I benefit from a drop of slowing agent, like Floetrol. I have some left over from my paint pouring days.
Where do you get your big stencils
Heart!
What can you use all these gel prints for
I need to clean off a lot of build up of acrylic paint from my brayer. Should I use a razor to get it started?
No, don't want to potentially nick it. I usually work the edges up and find a spot to start peeling. Or take hand sanitizer to it.
@@IngridBlackburn Thanks, I'll try that instead.
Where do u purchase your deli paper?
Should be a vacation or Florida men’s shirt.
Where do I buy Deli Paper ?
Payees grey would get the white wrinkle marks in the middle
Waxhaw, North Carolina. South of Charlotte.
Don’ you clean the stencils?
The paper sticking to the plate is because you let it dry too long with tissue paper. That is the only time it happens to me. Maybe it is too humid on that day?
Newbie here
Tip: Why not print from your wet side of the stencil on your yellow tissue paper? U may like it. Take every advantage maybe
Cool means not ready to print

I’m confused why you wait for plate to dry for some prints and pulled immediately on others?
I’ve watched videos but never pulled on plate. Haven’t noticed anyone waiting that long…. Or drying it. ?
Ingrid hasn't been active on here for some time, so not sure if you'll get a reply from her. You wait for the paint on the plate to dry when you want to build up layers on the plate (that's also why she peeks under the gel plate, to see how the layers are looking) - then the pull at the end will bring up all the layers in one pull. Waiting between layers ensures that each layer is dry before the next is applied, and the fan just speeds things up. It's just a different way to get layers on your gel prints - you can build up layers on the gel plate and do one pull at the end, or do multiple pulls on a page to get multiple layers. Both ways are fun :)

I’m watching the replay and I see the yellow face when you pulled the print….did you ever see it?
I still can't see it!! I feel so left out of it ...lol!! 😭😂❤️
@@IngridBlackburn Try looking at it through the video. At the 1 hour and 54 minute mark right when you turn the print around and put it to the side, the face is on the right hand side above the bottom right flower. Cute little guy.
@@IngridBlackburn look at the yellow spot I see a face if you turn it vertical in either direction, it’s funny when people see things that you can’t. Quick story when up I was getting my BFA in printmaking I was in a grad student
Room and I seen a Pokémon in her work, so I said something……did not go over very well since she hand sews her work down and is very tedious work, she redid the whole piece and never asked me to look at her work again. I guess if you don’t see it, it can’t bother you. I see faces and sometime male genitals all the time which I now just keep to myself and giggle

I’m sorry but you’re all over the place and you talk more than you demonstrate. Said with much love; please understand with the best intentions. Too much talking.
I love the talking, it helps me to figure out why things are done.
@@idratherbeshopping I do too! I usually won’t end up watching videos that are silent or play music. I love listening to art and craft talk!
