    You couldn’t have said it any better man. Don’t dictate your future for no one else. I wanted to join the military since I was 22, but my mom talked me out of it, and now at 33 years old, I’m in the process to join. I couldn’t be any happier watching this.

    Also , when I was bored there I would take the bus to the mall and hang out there. Maybe even catch a movie. I would also go to the gym play basketball or work out. On the Friday to Sunday nights we had the airmen’s club to
    Go to. You can also rent a car and drive to Dallas if you want a change of scenery once you in phase 3 .

    Great video, I like how you had both sides of the Air Force, it felt equal. Experiences definitely vary, i went through my fair shares of ups and downs, after about 5 years active duty I went guard and loved it for a bit then that started getting old, I was going to get out but gave myself a timeline of what I wanted. I just commissioned a few weeks ago, now going to training for combat systems officer. For those wanting to go officer, the process is long but definitely worth it. The connections this young man talks about is vital!

Im 23 and u speaking about this us helping me wanna go and join, i come from a small farm town and ive only ever work at a grocery store and ive never had money to actually pursue school, i wanna join because i see so many people around me get stuck here and they get comfortable and never leave, im scared to leave but u truly feel like the air force will force me to be self reliant and independent (ive never lived alone or without family) i really just wanna be someone that people respect and that i can be proud of, hopefully someday ill see u out there! Good luck dude! Save me a spot lol

      Even without the Airforce the people around you are already proud of you, so don’t think you “need” the AirForce for that. With that being said there’s always room for improvement and the AirForce will definitely help you get there if you’re willing to commit and work hard, it will force you to be independent but thats a good thing. But yea man, your spot saved, we waiting!

    When I went to tech school at that base they did not take a
    Single
    Cent out of
    Our pay check. We were able to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner; and if we were hungry we could go to eat again at 2am as long as we were in uniform. That is a
    Big change from what you have now.
    Once you get to
    Your first base and get to E-2 you can save the extra pay if
    You really looking to save money. Take advantage of night classes when you get to your first base. I did it and I was at Ramstein Germany.

    • @RawToastJ
      @RawToastJ  Před 3 měsíci +1

      A lot of people think that but when you check the pay stubs it’ll show how much they take out for food, the DFAC doesn’t charge you up front but it’s a monthly price taken out before you get paid so it seems as tho you never got anything taken out. Unless you were in like 20 years ago then it might be different

    • @golfery5119
      @golfery5119 Před 3 měsíci +1

      You won't be there at fort sam houston for a whole year. Only around six months for phase 1. For phase 2 you'll go to another site where things should be somewhat better. While you're in phase 1, things will suck because you are an intial entry trainee.....AT THE SAME TIME, you will be glad that you are Air Force AND NOT ARMY.
      You will see how much more the Army, even when they phase up and get better privileges, get treated MORE like little children compared to Air Force.
      If you're curious about anything for diagnostic imaging, please do not hesitate to ask someone like myself. I was in the school for it at Fort Sam Houston and I could give you quite a bit of information about how it was at the school that you might not be able to find online.

      @@golfery5119Greatly appreciated! This is a rare AFSC so I cannot exactly find much online. Are there any tips to pass the courses? What exactly is the "culture" of this field like? If I had a car in my home state, do I get to bring after BMT?
      Quality of life is probably THE biggest reason I went USAF, other than jobs available.

    • @golfery5119
      @golfery5119 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@wavetime3651 I'll answer a little out of order.
      - "What exactly is the "culture" of this field like? " To be honest, while I passed phase 1 of the course, I didn't make it through phase 2. I'm Army and I was sent to Fort Lewis, which supposedly is *one of, if not THE most difficult phase 2 site in the military* . So I didn't get to see how the culture of it is like beyond the operational aka permanent party soldiers in the hospital when they worked in the hospital.
      I'm going to digress a little, but I say "when they worked in the hospital,' because while I'm not 100% completely sure about the Air Force, one of the many things that sucks about the Army is that you are a "soldier first" ..... and that means even if you pick a job like x ray tech, if you're lucky the Army might assign you to a hospital where you're actually doing your MOS, or just as likely the Army might assign you to a field unit ( the word "field" unit because it's the Army) where you're either NEVER doing your MOS at all (and instead youre just doing clean up details and working in the motorpool doing connex layouts), or if you indeed do get to do your job, it's rarely. I might be wrong, but I'm sure in the Air Force, you'd be more likely to actually get to do the AFSC you chose, at least more often than many soldiers would get to do their MOS.
      So there were operational tech soldiers I only saw once or twice. But the soldiers I did see mostly were more nerdy compared to so many FORSCOM ( "big ARMY Army) soldiers. Though mostly there were civilian x ray techs.

      @@wavetime3651 -" If I had a car in my home state, do I get to bring after BMT?" I'm not sure if you would be able to bring your vehicle to phase 1 of tech school. I don't remember (I left phase 1 in February of 2023) but out of all the initial entry trainees in all three branches (Army Air Force Navy) whom I knew who had cars, I can recall only one (who was Navy by the way) who had their car at phase 1.
      You definitely would be able to bring your car to whatever phase 2 site you go to though. EDIT: But hopefully you can bring your car with you to phase 1 because San Antonio, even though it has some drivers who were wore and more aggressive than other cities I've been to, is a GREAT CITY.
