Fantastic. This is a bit more sensitive than Brendel's otherwise outstanding performance. He takes the opening movement like a roaring racing car whereas Ms Pires produces a fast horse ride. One of Mozart's most brilliant and imaginative keyboard works. There is much to suggest musical ideas that somehow we would like to believe Beethoven observed and was motivated to include in his beloved Pathetique sonata. Also there is that fate knocking on the door motif, which Haydn also used; both of them only in passing. Again, whether Beethoven knew the themes and greatly expanded upon them I would have to rely on musicologists who know when pieces were written and perhaps if Beethoven wrote in his letters about being so inspired.

Disfruto enormemente desde siempre el pasaje 8:30-8:40 es una bajada llena de perfección,transparencia,encajan las armonías más que perfectamente como ruedas engranadas cuando en esa mano izquierda 8:32-8:36 crece la progresión alcanzo la máxima sensación de goce, equilibrio es perfecto ;es un PLACER sin precedentes,lo repetiría como un disco rayado o la función A-B decenas y decenas de veces Mozart era el artista sencillamente Perfecto con una impecabilidad realmente inimitable con una gracia única;su puro genio extraordinario baña sus brillantes melodías con una luz única no cabe ninguna duda era el genio perfecto irrepetible por excelencia que no significa que sea el Mayor fue uno de los más grandes de la historia pero tenía esas características especiales que le hacían ser un Músico sencillamente Único y ya lo decía con razón Rossini y lo más curioso es que no utilizaba muchísimas notas ni escribió partituras empalagosas y recargadas como acordes muy complejos;de pocas notas y melodías de pocas notas como acordes simples esculpía auténticas maravillas como churros o sea un Miguel Ángel de la Música como lo fue el genio renacentista italiano en los siglos XV y XVI con las bellas artes Arquitectura Escultura y Pintura lo mismísimo Mozart con su impecable y perfectísima Música

Three notes in slow movement borrowed by Beethoven for slow movement of Pathetique? Sonata. Probably not, just coincidence. The musical context is so very different!
Perry Weiner actually the pathetique was made later on, right?

I'm hearing The Great Courses "The 23 Greatest Solo Piano Works" (Robert Greenberg), and I just finished lecture 4 (this piece). Professor Greenberg goes into detail about this similarity, as well as others. He goes on to play the cited section (around 11:11) back to back with the simiar section from Beethoven's 'Pathetique' sonata. He explains the similarity and inspiration at length. Great piece, great lecture and great course.
Why probably not? If anything, very, very likely beethoven took inspiration from this sonata
