The Brandon Stubblefield All-Star Band. Paying respect to one of our best friends at his homegoing ceremony by playing some of his arrangements. Rest in paradise brother. You will be missed. 1. Turn To 2. Jiggalator 3. 800 Degreez 4. Missing You
I stumbled across this video this morning and was moved by what I saw. I googled the name Brandon Stubblefield to learn more about him. I was surprised and proud to know that he was a product of Detroit Osborn High School and a member of Langston University Marching Pride Band... as I myself am a product of Detroit Osborn High School and was a member of Langston University Marching Pride Band in 1986. To my knowledge, I was the first member of Langston's Marching band (I was awarded First Chair Trumpet as a 17 year old Freshman) from Detroit Osborn. Although I never met this brother (Brandon) I am proud of his accomplishments! Rest In Peace my Brother!
@@KillaKevProd Bruh... When I first saw the youtube videos of LUMP performing back in the era of 04, 05, and 06, I remember thinking to myself "WOW IT'S LIKE I'M WATCHING A BUNCH OF MEs (versions of myself) IN THAT HORN SECTION". Around that time (around 07) I talked with Dr. Crisp (not sure if you know who that is) and he told me that among his collogues (former band & fine arts directors from across the country) the consensus was that L.U. won the Honda Battle of the Bands (in either 05 or 06 can't remember exactly what year). Shortly after... when I found out that Detroit Osborn was DEEP in the LUMP band in that era... IT BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES! (In the 80s Osborn had a tradition of our Trumpet players taking 1st chair in college as Freshmen. When it was my turn, I found myself at Langston walking into their band rehearsal over a week after the band had been meeting for rehearsals. I was upset because I had missed tryouts and was thinking that I may never get the first chair before freshman year was over. I was so determined to keep Osborn's tradition alive that I told myself that I didn't give a damn who was in that band room, I was taking that first chair. The band was already rehearsing when I walked in. The band director (Dr. Montgomery) sat me at the 2nd from last seat in the entire trumpet section. When it was time to play, there was a difficult passage in the piece that no one in the band could play, so the band director brought the band to a halt and EVERYONE IN THE BAND STOPPED PLAYING EXCEPT ME. The band director realized that I was sight reading the music correctly and began conducting as I continued to play. I performed the entire piece correctly with proper dynamics and articulation... I even put a soul stirring crescendo on it at the end. When I was finished... the whole band (including the director) was in awe. They watched me walk in, in the middle of their rehearsal over a week after they had been rehearsing the tune... and without warming up... I BLEW THE TUNE OUT OF THE WATER. The band director shook his head and said "Now that's what I call mighty good sight reading GIVE THAT MAN THE FIRST CHAIR". I couldn't wait to phone Osborn and report that I too had KEPT THE TRADITION ALIVE AND HAD TAKEN THE FIRST CHAIR AS A FRESHMAN FROM DETROIT OSBORN. (I know that this was a long story... but I had to tell it so that everyone who reads this can understand the history and why it brought tears to my eyes to see Detroit Osborn anchoring Langston Marching Band during their shining moments of 04, 05, and 06 and their Honda Battle of the Bands performances.)
NO LIE THIS VIDEO TOUCHED ME TO SEE PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER TO LET OUT THEIR EMOTIONS THROUGH MUSIC AND SEND A FRIEND OFF WITH MUSIC. R I P TO HIM HE SMILING DOWN ON YALL.❤ PRAYERS TO YOU KEV

Man this shit was the hardest hit I've had in years this will always be a legendary video love all y'all.... Shit he was bringing the rust out of all of us
One Thing that would’ve made this Better is to Swing the Camera ALL the Way around so you can see All of the People Showing All of the Love, not just the Band. Just an Observation…
I remember those old Osborn videos back on Showtimemag…everybody grew up and came back together for their round. Marching band does that for you. Prayers for all of you involved and great performance 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
This was awesum Detroit repping for real. I’m from Indiana made me feel like back home I could tell by the area and the skies took me back to my high school days when I was in the band. This made me smile 😊
Such a great send off to a legend from the crib. From the east side to the west side the Detroit band community had nothing but respect and admiration for B. Rest in Power to Brandon!!!
As a middle schooler they switched me and my brother to mellophone at Beecher High School. We watched OHS and we loved B ❤..From Flint to the D ..Everyone talks about how much our mellophones sucked our first year transitioning. But inspired by B they called us the Screaming Demons..Love you Brother for ever inspired by your greatness
I'm from Washington DC and I was in the Ballou Knights Marching Band in high school and although I didn't go to college and join the band some things never leave you. We're getting ready to honor olthe band director this upcoming school year for 30 years of service and the memories that came flooding back makes it an honor and privilege to participate. I only hope that the love that was shown in this video was shown while he was here on earth... This was a beautiful tribute 😢
