  • Colour is something we can see, yet we don't think about it. Much like walking we just do it...but when it comes to painting 'just doing it' doesn't help. Learn about how we see colour and why sometimes the colour you want to achieve and the colour that is painted on your model don't match and how to make it more accurate.

      @@WhatareyouPaintingnow hahaha all good, I do it all the time!
      What makes this video one of the best in my eyes is a solid amount of techincal information on the mechanics of painting or even the composition of paints (like when you discuss metallic paints - that stuff is all incredible). You hit a lot of important topics and the video is information packed. Some content creators probably could have milked the subject matter for like 5 videos, but you put all relevant info into one super video. I've sent it to multiple people already. Your other video that absolutely hits the mark for me is another recent video that's sort of a sped up remake of your earlier video on verisimilitude. The superman example is gold and your idea with showing the weight of a miniature relative to its basing (snow in that case) is really amazing. Another thing that I sent to like 10 people.
      I'm only mentioning the not-so-well part at your request. And in your defense it is your most watched (I think) video also, so at the end of the day one man's likes and dislikes don't make the channel. The videos I love have a couple of thousand (and in one case a couple of hundred) views. The videos I strongly dislike have tens (and probably soon will have hundreds of thousands of views). So if anything maybe take my feedback and do the opposite because I clearly don't guess corretly what's popular for most aspiring (and current) hobbyists. But to get to my point - by far your worst videos in the sense of concepts and material are the videos on psychology of color. I've rewatched the longest one just now just to make sure I didn't miss some critical component. But you have multiple videos on that subject and they all have shared issues at the theoretical level. There's absolutely no issues otherwise - you guys have great energy, the visual aids are there, comedy, banter - all of your signature stuff is there. It's the concepts that you cover in those videos that are weak. Again - 10s and soon 100s of thousands of viewers obviously liked and shared those videos so it makes commercial sense to continue in that direction.

    This is a fantastic video! Thanks for this.
    Note on white: I'm enjoying Pro Acryl Bold Titanium White, though I tend to go super light gray with white as a highlight/mixing color.
    As for black, I just finished a Battle Sister squad with black armor, and I found that Corvus Black + Pro Acryl Payne's Grey made a great mid-tone, shaded with black in the darkest recesses and tiny/thin edge highlights into a white glazed with jade.

  • @Chrysamer77
    @Chrysamer77 Před 5 měsíci

    I can do basecoat, and I can do shadows. But I can't do highlights with layering. And highlights with drybrushing are too unprecise. My only idea is to do base coat, then do recess shading twice, to get shadows and deep shadows. Then maybe I can barely manage some edge highlighting, and all this should sell the effect.
