    SABATON HISTORY LINKS:
One of the bloodiest battles in the history of humankind was fought out on the hills in Northern France. Verdun was a tactical and symbolical city with great value to France. In 1916, the German army launched a massive attack, accompanied by a tremendous artillery bombardment, upon which the French defenders put their foot down, stating that 'on ne passe pas!', they shall not pass.

Gandalf´s you shall not pass is inspired by this french order. JRR Tolkien was a soldier on western front.

I like how LVT is changing from metal woman oblivious to history into historical junkie (at least in the subject of warfare) :)
Yet another super power of Sabaton's music!

They gave their life for my country and i regret that many french people forget it

As an American I can admit that I talk a lot of shit about the French based solely on how WW2 went for y'all. That being said, I fully acknowledge the courage of French troops in both World Wars and understand that loss was not the result of a deficiency in French troops but rather was due more to a lucky flanking maneuver through a region that for all intents and purposes should have been impassible for armored and motorized units. Had the German drive through the Ardennes been recognized sooner I suspect French air power would have torn them to shreds or at least held them back long enough for ground forces to reposition for a more effective defense. Not to worry though! France is one of my favorite countries to play in HOI4 and I have successfully held off the German Blitz and led the Allies to victory over Germany on many occasions! Hope all is well for you and have a Merry Christmas!

Tolkien was indeed inspired by Verdun. Overall keep in mind that LDR is a critic of the industrial society that led to industrial war and attrocities, obviously based on his war trauma.

In these world wars you are not just "doing your job" you become the first and last line of defense for your own family, your people, your culture and the land your ancestors died to defend before you, take it from a french that knows the sacrifices his own made, one survived two world wars to die from "war dementia" haunted by the ghosts of his own comrades who drowned in the two submarines that he had to swam out of to survive as a mechanic, he died from a heart attack after being locked in his own room since he would attack any who would try to get in persuaded that his own family were enemies trying to kill him, he even dug and built a bunker because he believed that ww3 was fast approaching, after decades no one has discovered where the entry is.

Since some of these history videos can be downers due to how brutal warfare can be, I recommend No Bullets Fly for something uplifting as a German fighter pilot refuses to shoot down a damaged Allied bomber or Ghost Division if you want a laugh as Erwin Rommel invades France using the Sonic method of "gotta go fast!"
