- I'm Donnalouise - a puzzled puzzler puzzling puzzles who needs to practice for the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships in Spain this September. Here is the haul of 500 piece Ravensburger puzzles I've acquired over the last few weeks. Do you think I have enough to practice? Will I be able to get my time consistently under an hour?

I just happened upon that après-ski one at a thrift shop a few days ago. Maybe I'll try to do it in one sitting (as close as I'm willing to get to speed puzzling at this point) and only watch your video after I've assembled mine.
Doing a 500 piece puzzle in one sitting is also such a feat - let me know if you do it and how you felt afterwards. Adele who gave me all those puzzles tried speed puzzling, she's actually really fast - but she didn't enjoy it. Good to try a least once as you never know, you may like it. 💜🧩
After seeing this , I don't feel so bad about my big puzzle hauls. My last was 33 puzzles at thrift shops in one day.

That's a fantastic haul!!! Realy good ones to practice with. I seem to remember that the photograph ones were part of the qualifying rounds. I have no worries you will qualify. As far as the ones with no plastic and out of the bag, time yourself just doing that on the other puzzles and just add that to your total time at the end. Congrats on the 40% off sale!!! now THAT's a sale!! And I would TOTALLY love to go to Spain to watch you guys race. It's on my bucket list. I would probably try one of the competitions just for the fun of it
I think everyone who enjoys puzzling should try speed puzzling at least once. Just to spice things up. And now I can't wait to try puzzle chess!!! Wasn't Adele amazing sending me all those puzzles??? So much support in my quest to get to Spain. 💜🧩
That was an awesome video. Your enthusiasm is infectious! I have a fair few 500 piece puzzles and we could do an exchange if you like and you run out of puzzles to practice on. Adele is so generous to have passed you those! The same Adele who started the travelling puzzle?
Yes, the same Adele that started the travelling puzzle - I wonder where it is at the moment? I’m still waiting to do it myself. I’ll let you know about swapping puzzles - great idea once I get through all the ones here. 💜🧩

What a great selection of puzzles to practice with. You are going to be so prepared! And omg, you got a puzzle from the nature edition series! I was at the US pairs competition and had to do one of those. It was so dark! The one you have looks beautiful. Fingers crossed it won't be as dark as ours was!
Oh no!! I chose it because I thought it would be difficult, and now I know it will be...ugh! But best to practice. I'll definitely make sure I have good lighting and comment on whether or not it was really dark. 💜🧩

I'm trying to do one a week for the next several weeks and then maybe redo some to see if I can change up my technique to improve on my time. I'm just so excited to be going. 💜🧩

I've seen a few people do it and I think it would be great practice as there are blank areas, animal fur, part photo and part illustration - a little of everything. Hopefully you can find it also. 💜🧩

Wow, congratulations for so many Ravensburger puzzles, it will be great to practise with those! 🤩 I've done 3 of those (a few times) and the dandelions one and the New York one are still killing me every time I try to do them! 😂 Kitten in a Cup is fun. ❤️ I really love the idea of puzzle chess and I hope I'll get a chance to try it! 🤩 Good luck with the display! ❤️❤️❤️
Ohh and another technique for you to try: flip all pieces and sort SOME of the pieces! 😄 That's the method I mainly use and I like that there are two different techniques combined: all flip and all sort. 👍
I saw you do the Kitten in the Cup a few times. I agree, the full flip with sorting is probably better than just the full flip. I'm glad that I'm practicing 500 piece puzzles as the full flip just feels impossible on 1000 pieces. 💜🧩
Oh my, what an amazing haul!! That'll be a ton of great practice. I really need to try speed puzzling, but I feel like I'm gonna fail miserably LOL. I should really start picking up more 500 piece puzzles too.
You should try it once at least - you never know, you might really enjoy it. I'm excited to try my hand at puzzle chess as well. 💜🧩

I have the first puzzle., Apres Ski. I won it in Ravensburger giveaway last year. I loved that it had large pieces which I prefer. Ravensburger are more than what I usually paid for puzzles in the US, so I'll have to wait for a good sale. Good Luck in Spain! I plan to watch the live stream. Thanks for the link to puzzle chess. @@fortheloveofpuzzles Puzzle chess looks interest but I don't quite understand the rules. I don't speak Spanish. I thought there would be two players but in the video there were 4. I wonder what would happen if the puzzle has false fits.
Ohh…the false fits…that’s a good question. I sort of understood the idea just by watching the video and I understand some Spanish. They do play it just 1vs1 as well as pairs - which was what as shown in this video. I will try to find out the rules and make my demo video about it soon. But what to do about false fits…?? Best to buy busy images from good quality brands. 💜🧩

It's weird because some brands are so much more expensive than others. I know there is a quality difference but sometimes I can't justify spending 3x more for one brand over another. 💜🧩
I've only done one 500 pc Ravensburger puzzle... the John Deere Classic puzzle. I didn't time myself... but it was a fun puzzle.
Ah yes, the John Deere puzzles. Haven't done any of those but can picture the boxes in my head. I'm hoping that I have a good variety of images to practice on. 💜🧩
Puzzle chess???!!! Sounds SO fun! I've been trying to get some of my puzzling friends to do speed puzzling with me, but it intimidates them a bit... I wonder if they would be more interested in the puzzle chess idea. 🤔 I'm gonna go watch that video you linked now... so excited to learn more!

That puzzle chess does look cool! Feel like that would be a little less stressful on the body lol have three turns to just sit still and look over the pieces. Was a bit more fun to watch I thought too , but partly because was so small and done fast. I could not find any more videos or anything about it so wondering how common it is 🤔

I assembled the floral reflections last July. It took me 2 hours and 1 minute!
That's one that I am definitely interested in my time as it was used at last year's competition. If I'm not mistaken, it may have been the one that Alejandro assembled in 34 minutes!!! That's just mind-blowing!! 💜🧩
Whoa, you certainly got yourself plenty of jigsaws to practise with. 👍 It will be interesting to see what times you achieve. Some of those images will be tricky to do as in "Where do I start?!" I see that I have done four of those plus one to do, the kitten in cup one. I can understand why you wish to practise with photo type ones as they can appear at the competition. Not a fan of photo ones they just don't appeal to me. I did make an exception with the kitten in cup as it is part photo, part illustration and I love cats. Look forward to your next video.
That's the thing with the competition - I can't really pick and choose what puzzles they will give me so I forced myself to buy ones that are not typically my style. The kitten int he cup is cute though and a good mixture of textures. If you speed run it, let me know your time. 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles Hi Donna Louise. Well I've just finished the kitten in the cup one. I surprised myself by doing it in slightly less time than the cute dogs. It took me 1:55:41 to do. Not a lot faster but hey what's a few minutes! No surprise to know that the kitten was the difficult part and I left it to last. I shall be taking a photo of it and putting it in my jigsaw gallery with the time. Not a bad effort considering that speed puzzling isn't my normal practise. I shall be interested to see what your time is for this jigsaw.
@@puzzlepiece9509 I'll try to do it sooner rather than later. I might do one this weekend and because I haven't sped run a puzzle in a while, I might try an easy image just to ease back in. 💜🧩
I have one of them still in the box so I think I will speed puzzle it and see how I get on. I have never timed myself so have no idea how long I will take.
Some people always time themselves just for fun even if not trying to speed puzzle. Which one do you have? It would be great if you sped run it along with me and try it out once. You never know, you might really enjoy it. 💜🧩

Oh no, they would not send me free puzzles and I wouldn’t accept them. As the main sponsor of the competition, it would be unfair and a conflict of interest for them to supply competitors with free puzzles. 💜🧩
