Thanks for being here! - Zábava
For the last couple of years I've been thinking about writing a book called They Say There's A River Around Here Somewhere But I'm Not Sure I Haven't Taken A Walk Around The Property Yet (It’s Prob'ly Over There Somewhere). Lotsa fun here AWJ, you do good work.
Hahahaha!! I love that title and I’d pick it up immediately if I saw it
now this is what i was looking for on this fine saturday afternoon and yes! reading a physical book in the car is truly a superpower that i do not have but an ebook/kindle I can do
You can read kindle or ebook in a car? That’s a superpower, too! I can barely look at my phone haha
The editing in this video is an artform in itself! What! A! Joy! To watch. Also, we need a skincare routine, because how are you this glowwwy? Spill the tea please and thank you
Lurv ya! And I actually posted a skincare routine in an old vlog. I think it’s A Day in the Life of a Girl Who Reads A LOT
in the distance is one of my favourites soo good
watching this video felt a bit like reading. just a glimpse into the minute details of another person’s life makes me feel more grounded
hugs!!! Big, big hugs, my dove 🕊️🕊️
Oooh just what I needed this morning. 😊😊😊. This was so fun. Unfortunately I can’t read in the car either. I agree this is a superpower!
That is a superpower! I need to know what genes they possess--I want them!
her videos feel like literal art
You’re art!
I just wanted to thank you for your great content, and to relay that I just sub’d to SCRINTAL. What a game changer. Have a great week, Anna.
Thank you so much! SCRINTAL is so much fun! I feel like I’m playing a game when I’m being productive!!
A river runs through it: I really enjoyed the movie. And now I really want to read the book, thanks to you. Thanks for the video (P.S: I am in love with your glorious hair)
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the book--it's good, though sometimes I fell out of it. I just imagine Brad Pitt in it and I got right back in heheh
Loved your thoughts on Trust. I enjoyed it a bit more than you did, but I think because I didn't figure out the connections between the four novellas until I was in the third it added to the charm of the book, the AHA moment added to it for me. I will probably reread at some point to see the references more and feel the writing more.
You singing “it’s a great day to be alive” made me emotional. That song was everything to me as a little kid but I forgot why (it’s how it makes me feel and memories it brings up.) but also, your bus driver listened to the radio??? I’m so impressed by that 😅
I re-listened to the song while editing to make sure I had the lyrics right and I teared up, too! It’s an emotional one! And yeah-we lived way out in the country, so only staticky radio for us hehe
I think you will love in the distance, it will speak to the granola girl in ur heart !! One of my faves
There are 2 people on youtube whose vlogs I never miss: yours and emmie’s
Omg, she gives me the strongest asmr. I’m flattered!
Truly one of your best videos yet, Ana! So creative!
You da best
you are easily my favorite youtuber, i look forward to every time you post!!!! love your energy ANDDD your taste!!!
Muahhhhh!!! You are so kind, thank you!
Don’t you just love Edith Wharton’s house? ❤ I was in my glory when I visited it. I really liked Trust and thought it was brilliant the way Diaz told it in 4 novellas/formats and how it all came together. As always, love seeing you and Oleg and your NYC life! Happy reading 💖📚
Wharton was a bougie, happy woman in that house, lemme tell ya!
@@AnaWallaceJohnson Indeed!
I got way too excited to see that you posted a nice long vlog
Weekends, baby!!!
Have you ever read any Kent Haruf? I think you would really like his novels
P.S. I used to not be able to read in the car, but a few years ago we took a road trip in Europe and I discovered that I could now read in the car! So maybe it's a superpower that develops over time
I read Plainsong and you KNOW I sobbed!!! So loud!
this vlog has made me have "it's a great day to be alive" on a loop for the past two weeks.
I literally cannot get that song out of my head lmao. Just those lyrics though
I am so thoroughly enjoying watching your videos. You make me laugh and want to pick up a book I maybe wouldn’t have considered.
for some reason you give me "cool Aunt" energy and i'm here for it
Ah TRUST, that is the book I keep picking up and putting back on the shelves at my local bookstore, as I wasn’t sure it was worthy of reading, even at such an awarded status. I just might wait to see if it pops up at my library instead.
It’s definitely a quick read. You’ll fly through it. Diaz is a great novelist
I started listening to Once Upon A Time at Bennington but I have to say that I questioned some of the ways that they involved Donna without any permission from her. I get that it's the goal but I felt that sometimes the voice of Anastasia (the podcaster? It was a few weeks ago...) sounded very... seedy and tabloid-y. Really really interesting stuff but it kind of tickles a discomfort at the back of my mind, like I am listening to something wrong. Once again, this is Sophiethepegasus on the not 2009 youtube channel. Very curious to see what you think!
I am reading The Swann Road by Marcel Proust for class and Just Kids by Patti Smith- one of my first non-fictions and I am LOVING it. This might have turned a new page for me.
In The Distance is immense. A very very special book. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend going to the Bowery Poetry club for their slam nights on Mondays
Noted!!!
Hi, Ana! Totally random question, but could you show us what you do for your skincare to have such a glorious, youthful, wonderful and fabulous skin, please?😅
Love ya for asking! And I have a skincare routine in an older vid-Day in the life of a girl who reads a lot! It’s right in the beginningish and it’s pretty standard for what I do. I’m really oily, so I think that’s the day to day glow, honestly
2:11 the lighting... you look ethereal!
Beam me up!
You might like 'Wilderness Tales' edited by Diana Fuss! There several Montana stories in there.
Anything Montana is for me, baby!!
I also enjoyed the first half of Trust the most, my favourite was actually part one, which was most people's least favourite.
Thanks for calling me an advanced breed. I appreciate that. 😂
I’m jealous! I wanna utilize car time! And same, loved the first part a lot haha
Hey Ana, let’s embrace the literary fervor together! Your video is quite nice on this Sat morning.
You’re amazing!!! Thank you for being here :)))
A River Runs Through It was a tough read for me. The message and writing are beautiful, but I just couldn’t connect.
Ana, you may already be familiar with Ivan Doig, a Montana native who wrote 16 novels that take place there, the most popular of which is The Whistling Season. I’m at the start of my reading journey with him, but he’s a very thoughtful author.
I’ve heard so much about Doig and stumble on his books often. Our friend from Missoula was telling me how much I should read him-I agree!
B 95.5!!!!! 😭😭🩷🩷🩷
I have that superpower!
Lucky!!!
Unlike you I actually hated the first section of Trust, I felt like it was so boring and badly written! My favorite was the 3rd section, and I liked the poetry of the 4th (even though the “twist” was pretty predictable. Highly recommend In the Distance, it’s such a good read, and seems like exactly your kind of book.
Hahaha! It was a cheese fest, but sometimes that’s exactly what my body needs. And Diaz shocked me! So good!
Anyone have any youtuber recommendations that come close to this queen?????
Literally been looking ever since I found her
They are not similar but if you’re interested in bookish content, emmie and throneofpages are my favorite booktubers
@@littlebookish5287 same 😩 Damon Dominique comes close but is not bookish
Love Damon! There’s so many goodies out here in Booktube land. Thanks for being here, baby ❤️
