I have been searching for the full recording of this opera for YEARS! Thank you for putting this on youtube for me to finally enjoy. The recording of the “O Luigi…” duet from this is how I discovered this opera, Scotto, and the all-time underrated great, Vasily Moldovenau. THANK YOU!
Nice to see Italo Tajo. I was introduced to him in the lobby of the Met in the first intermission of the opening performance of the 1980 Manon Lescaut - starring Scotto and Domingo. Tajo told me the second act set of Manon was the most beautiful he'd ever seen Five days later I saw Moldoveanu in Don Carlos. In Edmonton I sang the Old Gypsy and chorus in a Trovatore with Berini. She hated the cold and while driving her to her hotel after a rehearsal she showed us she was wearing 3 pairs of stockings! Haha!
Scotto is really great until I needed her to be great. So disappointing to her her belt out a high 'C' sharp instead of the high 'C' in the magnificent duet. Oh, well...
