I noticed some teachers grtting an awful lot of attention in highschool. Teacher playing guitar to swooning girls, or young female teachers inviting handsome students to hang out at her house. Yes i tagged along and nothing happened but there was chemistry between my friends and her. (Before i was a muslim)

In my opinion, firing the teacher is a knee jerk reaction and the school board has overreacted.
I don't mean to make light of the mistake that was done, but to judge based on an isolated incident is a bit harsh.
I know that the teacher was defiant at first, but he later realized his mistake and repented.
Everybody make mistakes and we learn from our mistakes.
I think the PTA should meet and discuss this matter with open hearts and decide whether the teacher is a good teacher that made a mistake or is he a bad teacher.
And if teacher is found to be a good teacher that made a mistake, I hope that they would give him a second chance.

I understand this compassion, as we all need some, but the severity of this situation doesn’t justify a slap on the wrist as proper punishment. He is an adult allowing minors to touch him. As they’re clearly very comfortable, this isn’t the first time. Once again, these students are minors under his supervision, most of whom have parents who probably didn’t want to be seen by 50 million plus strangers online or any strangers online period.
I don’t think anyone is overreacting when saying this is inappropriate. Allowing adults and minors to have “friendly” relationships like these sets a precedent that minors and adults can be friends when they CANNOT. This goes for the same sex, let alone the opposite. On top of that, in Islam, we know that this is clear-cut wrong. These are _children_ and some of which probably have school-girl crushes on their teacher who lets them do his hair. It doesn’t matter if it was “innocent” on his part, it’s up to the adult to set boundaries at the end of the day. These situations could easily lead to unwanted outcomes like students getting too comfortable because the teacher could not uphold professional boundaries. I’m not even a parent but seeing this made my stomach turn. And I’m glad it brought light to a situation that is probably very prevalent.
Edit: Plus, I promise you, even if this man doubled down and stated that this was completely innocent, how often have such situations led to court cases? Would the adult be in the wrong or the children?

I'm wondering 🤷‍♀️, it's normal for them if opposite gender are giving hugs to each other even they're not close right. Then probably braiding or unbraiding hair would be normal for these teacher andd students.
For us it's totally different environment, I'm just thinking from their perspective.
I'm from Pakistan, I always studied in girls school and our college also had 2 separate campus for girls and boys.
And I remember in our last day of college (12th grade, equal to high school in west) our favorite chemistry teacher who was elderly, above 60, he called 4 of us who were his best students in our batch, to an empty class and said goodbye type stuff to us. He was standing with teachers dice and we were sitting on 4 front chairs. He said if you were not girls, i would shake hands with you.
And i thought i would have no problem in shaking hands with you, but I didn't say that aloud, it was just in my head but since everyone didn't say anything so I too kind of just followed them.
But the reason why I thought I would not have any problem with shaking hands with him wasn't that he was elderly, it was because he was a teacher and I would have thought the same for younger teachers also. Since it's just a handshake.
Till that time i never had close interactions with opposite gender where I had to think about choosing between should I avoid touching them or should I just touch bcz it's just a touch. And I got this choice in university and I choosed to avoid.

There are far far worse things that happen at school than a teacher letting kids unbraid his hair. I could agree with him being disciplined. But being fired is a bit much.
We see so many stories of teachers being sexual with students that we automatically assume that a teacher doing anything other than standing next to the bulletin board is seen as creepy.

    • @SunnahResistance
      @SunnahResistance Před 2 měsíci

I feel it necessary to mention something very important. The devil doesn't get people trapped quickly. It's a gradual process, and I promise you if a case ever gets to the point of sexual assault, rape, etc then there was more gradual and lesser steps which led to it.
This is why in the story of Barsisa, the man (Barsisa) did not immediately fornicate with the woman. The devil gradually encouraged him until he fell into fornication. Then after he fornicated, he killed her and the child to hide the evidence (murder). Next, he lied and claimed she died of illness. Lastly, he was exposed and committed shirk by prostrating to the devil for help. If the devil has asked him to prostrate to him in the beginning, he would have refused, but he was gradual until he got him.
      والله المستعان

I don't think it's about sexual harassment. It's about implementing common decency and professionalism within a classroom that does not violate boundaries. He may not have meant any harm, but its the fact that things like this have become normal for people that's concerning. Just my thoughts. Even the idea of a female teacher allowing students to regularly braid her hair is weird and absurd tbh. Unless she's like friends with the kids mom and shes like an aunt to the kids or smth. Even then stuff like this should be outside a classroom yk?

    • @R0404

No, hijab is not just a hair covering. Hijab covers EVERYTHING except the hands and face. And there is a difference of opinion on whether the hands and face are obligatory or mustahab (recommended and rewarded).
