    My wife bought me my first pair of Thursday boots & first pair of Moc boots this past Christmas. I wear a 11 EE in boots as we know Thursday doesn't make these in wide. Their size chart suggested I get size 12. They fit perfect first time I put them on. They were that tight feeling like a new boot should be before breaking in. After 2 hours of wearing them they were already broke in. To me after few hours they were the most comfortable boot I've ever owned. The boots seemed to have lot oil in leather but after wearing them a couple times the leather seemed to soak it in. I used Red Wings mink oil & worked a light coating in. After couple more uses the leather soaked that in. I ended up putting 1 light coating & 2 moderate coatings of mink oil on them. Each time the leather got softer & boots become surprisingly more comfortable. I wear them 2-3 times a week. I've never owned a tennis shoe that feels as good as these boots. It's now April & I'm already wanting to buy the Arizona & Black leather boots so I can have all 3 colors.
    Not everyone's feet are the same & these boots may not feel like they do on another person's feet as they do mine. But I think keeping the leather oiled is the key. It really softened it & helped the boots to break in to the point where they went beyond my expectations.

      I just bought these a week ago. They fit similarly to my other Thursdays, (slightly shorter and rounder toe box), which is close to your Brannock length. I am a 12.6 or so on the Brannock and found I needed a 13 in the Thursdays to get enough room for my big toe. (12.5 was close, but got a little toe rub). What Weston touches on perfectly is how great the arch support feels right a way. I wish my other Thursdays had this additional rise in the arch because you feel planted and comfortable. To compare, I wear a 12 in the Red Wing moc toe last and a 14 in Nike/Puma, so I'm a size up from Red Wing and a full size down from my old school sneaker size.

    • @BradleyHansonPhotography
      @BradleyHansonPhotography Před 3 lety

      @Billy Jane The important thing is to have a frame of reference. Every brand fits differently and sneakers fit differently than dress shoes or work boots. Since "true to size" is relatively meaningless, I use the Brannock device size as a reference. I measure as about 12.6 on the Brannock device. Most of my sneakers are size 14, but I wear a 13 in most shoes and boots. The Thursday 13s fit me with enough toe room. I could probably squeeze down to a 12.5 with thin dress socks, but I prefer thicker wool socks with boots, especially in the winter. Short story: I went down ONE full size compared to my sneakers, but I'd stick with your Brannock device size for Thursday boots. Sneakers are not a good reference point as not all Adidas/Nike/Puma fit the same, either. Get measured on a Brannock device in a shoe store for sure...

    I like how Thursday's is always evolving their products! If you had a bad pair a few years ago you would probably be surprised with a new pair! I am pleasantly surprised with the guts of these boots. I'm in the market for a motorcycle boot that will absorb a lot of the vibration. Nicks makes one but I wonder if they will absorb vibration that much better since Thursday's uses the same outsole. Can't wait to see you crack White's open and see if they are worthy meet in the middle type of boot.
    As far as winter boots go, you could probably do a whole series just on LL Bean with all their different Bean boots with and without different levels of insulation.

    • @waxa3869
      @waxa3869 Před 3 lety

      When it comes to a pair for riding, my bets would be on something like the Thorogood personally. The poron layer they have in most of their stuff as well as the insoles should do a better job of shock absorption than natural materials. You can get taller models as well iirc. This is just speculation though cause I've personally never owned their moc-toes, only a pair of one of their other models.
      Depending on how bad the windchill is in your area though, them being unlined might be an issue. Thick socks I guess?

  • @xxflamezxx1able
    @xxflamezxx1able Před 3 lety +5

    I got two pairs from Thursday, both were disappointing in some ways, first pair was a captain in brown and the tongue has given me issues like you mentioned in your video but honestly not bad for a first boot so I put them to good use. Got that first pair in a size 8 and fit perfectly at first, felt really comfy. A couple years later I ordered a black Matte from their rugged and resilient line (which is probably the leather you are seeing here) in size 8 as well (same style as first: captain) and they were more snug around the toe box and my toes were pressing against the front of the boot. Now this is partially my fault because I thought I just needed to break them in and then my toes wouldn’t be so pressed up against the front but being new to boots I didn’t know better . A coupe of painful months go by and they’re still uncomfortable in the toe box, which again is surprising because the first pair fit perfectly. I email them and ask them if they changed the last and they said they did but that “most customers didn’t notice” so I shouldn’t either essentially, basically saying “that’s a you problem” despite not disclosing this information on their site. 1 year later I have that black pair in a closet untouched because they are too painful to wear and just remind of the bad customer service, definitely not buying boots from them again and it really sucks because I love the look of them. Oh also there’s a “Thursday drop” which means after a couple of years, the foam inside just goes flat and the boots become uncomfortable. Sorry for long comment just thought I’d share my experience with them.

      I have a pair of captains that I bought in 2020 in a 9.5 and love them. Ordered a new pair last year in 2021 in 9.5 and they were also now to small for me in the toe box so I had to resell them for a loss and order a 10. Also tried out their moc toe which I also had to go with a 10. The tongue shifts to the side as you walk in them thru out the day and the eyelets become exposed to rubbing on your skin even thru your sock. They are jagged and become painful to walk in unless you tie them super tight with both speed hooks to try and prevent the tongue from shifting to one side of the shoe. Had to sell those for a loss too.

    I think these are the first ones I’ve seen that I’d maybe consider over the redwings. I own a couple Thursday boots and I do like the slimmer, dressier style. Wow! Great review and Thanks for making these videos! I recently came into the market for a couple pairs of boots and stumbled upon your videos and I am certainly glad I did since your reviews and analysis are exactly what I am I wanting in a review! I've been waiting for the Thursdays review since the start of Moctober. I never heard of the Whites, so I am interested to see your review before I pull the trigger. It would be great to see a cut-up of some of the Army's and Marine Corps boots (Bellville, Danner, Bates and whoever else is currently making Army and Marine boots) so that both Soldiers and Marines know what are the ones to stay away from.
