Freier Fall:
A promising career with the police, a baby on the way -- Marc's life seems to be right on track. Then he meets fellow policeman Kay and during their regular jogs Marc experiences a never-before-felt sense of ease and effortlessness -- and what it means to fall in love with another man. Torn between his family and his new feelings for Kay, Marc sees his world careening more and more out of control. Suddenly, his life is in free fall and Marc realizes that try as he may, he can't make everyone happy. Least of all, himself.

This film is so German--very brooding and serious. Even the "light, happy" scenes always had this sad, foreboding undertone to them. Like these people never got nice light bulbs in their houses, with beautiful warm glows in rich yellows and oranges to brighten up cozy little corners filled with books, houseplants, fuzzy slippers, down comforters, fluffy pillows and silly nicknacks. Everything is pallid, fluorescent, and angular, with conspicuous dark corners in all the house and office interiors, all slightly menacing.

The ending of this movie broke me.
The absolute pain that Marc is going through is so real and sad. He didn't know what he had until he lost it...great movie though! Hope they're still going to make a sequel because as it stands now, my heart is a little bit shattered

Two years later I still waiting patiently for the sequel! I thought the ending was so sad and realistic. You don't realise how much you love someone until they are gone. :( That's why we need part 2, and want to see Marc and Kay reunited. ❤

But you’re left with the idea that they’d get together, or at least I was. Marc was single and Kai had “returned” twice before. Plus, it looked to me like it was being left open for a sequel. (And it was.) At least they were both left alive, unlike Brokeback

Why do some of the best portrayals of men loving each other always end in tragedy? I loved this movie.
Aus einer Ausstellung in Heimatstadt habe ich letztens von diesem Prachtfilm erfahren. So wie ich wieder aus der Ausstellung daheim war stöberte im Netz danach durch bis ich es hinkriegte, den kostenlos zu wiedergeben, kann nur sagen, dass alle Rezensionen aus anderen rund dazu ganz meine Erwartungen erfüllt haben. Der Film selbst hat mich besonders fasziniert und würde mir ihn ohne große Zögerung wieder anschauen : ) danke an die Macher dieses prächtigen Films .. hat mir zwischendurch auch ziemlich viel dazu gedient, mein Deutsch aufzufrischen.

I know what you mean. The ending is not exactly good or bad, but there’s plenty of hot man on man love between these two very alpha men-- and there’s a strong implication of a sequel. If you want a very touching (and good) ending, watch “God’s Own Country” and “Latter Days.”
I don't like movies that end like this no conclusion. What's the point getting us invested. I didn't like how Marc tried to go back to Kay only after Bettina left him. Kay should have been worth the sacrifice not be a consolation prize.
I don't know how to feel about Kay seducing Marc. I wish there was more dialogue so we could get into the mind of Marc. Did he ever like guys? Was that the first time he did something with another man? Was he straight this whole time and the kiss sparked something in him he never knew was there? There was a scene in the car with his mother where she said we didn't raise you be this way. Did they know he was gay as a child and beat it out of him? Or it was a homophobic household so Marc had to suppress his true self and love a heterosexual lifestyle.

@@TheBaldingFish Very unlikely it’s a scam. I read on (Max Riemelt Twitter Account in May) that Freier Free is still in pre-production. I think they needed €3 million euros to make the sequel. Not entirely sure If they reach their target! Least it’s not cancelled, just🙏🏻🤞🏻

Bu ikilinin cinsellikten başka paylaştığı anlamlı hiçbir şey yok. Marc' ın çocukluk veya ilk gençlik yıllarından itibaren eşcinselliğini mutlaka fark etmiş olması, en azından ruhen gelgitleri olması gerekirdi. İnsanlar birdenbire hemcinsine ilgi duymaz. Marc'ın, en çok kullandığı kelime, bilmiyorum. Tek bildiği şey Kay' la öpüştükten sonra ona cinsel bir çekim hissettiği... Eşcinsellik veya aşk sadece cinsellikten ibaret değildir. This movie scares me- even though im not in a relationship, as a woman, i PRAY TO GOD my future husband do not get into mischief like this. Things happen 4 a reason but i still would be HURT if the love of my life loves someone else behind my back!🥺😖😣
Ummmm...you'd notice if your boyfriend swung that way. It'd happen in bed. It'd happen with parting glances and little odd things here and there. A lot of women simply blind themselves, put those doubts in the back of their minds, and barrel on ahead with the marriage and the baby and everything, despite those doubts. Then--kaboom!--everything blows up in their faces. But those doubts, that gut check, they will tell you maybe one to two months into the relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. It's extremely hard to hide this predilection in men. Listen to that gut check.
