    For over 2 years and 9,000 miles I've been running a 13/48 with a PBI aluminum rear sprocket combo without issue. I also do not adjust my chain at the recommended Yamaha tension. Closer to 1" of slack instead of 1/2".

    Just bought a new-to-me 2014 with 423 kms on the girl. So basically has brand new chain and sprockets... and i'm about to order a new chain and sprockets - 14-49. haha. Definitely worth it in the long run. Thanks for the tips!

    Very correct same performance because same gear ratio. Checking it very simple, 13:43 or 13 divided by 43 = 0.30 and 14:47 or 14 divided by 47 = 0.297 round of to 0.30 , so they have the same turns or gear ratio of 0.30. By checking like this you don't have to guess anymore in the pairing of your front and rear sprocket.

    Could you do a video for the rear shock, or do you have suggestions or mods that you have done to eliminate the springy nature? Thanks

    If I put a 52 on the rear, do you still think there is a need for the 14 on the front in the conditions you demonstrate in this video?

      What size chain would you recommend for a 14/47 or a 14/49 ? Any recommendations on manufacturers & model numbers? Also, once you have geared up, is there any way to recalibrate the speedo for the Wr250r so that it reads more accurately?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 6 lety +1

      With a 14/47 gearing set up you would want to go up 4 links on the stock chain size = *112 Links* If you have questions about gearing, feel free to check out our Gearing Guide Video: czcams.com/video/mp3GXfiGGj0/video.html .
      Honestly, the Primary Drive Gold or non gold x-ring 520 Chain is awesome for the price. Renthal and DID are also great manufactures. Check out our WR250R Headquarters page here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Sales/447/WR250R-Parts-Accessories

    The nice thing about 14/49 is that you can drop to 13/49 if you are riding some tight technical single track.
    13/47 or 14/49 seems to be about the tallest gearing that still allows for easy 2nd gear wheelies.
    14/47 will loft, but requires a lot of body English, or some cheater clutch input, not nearly as fun.

    What combination of sprockets would be recommended to get the most torque at the very low end on the WR250R ? Not concerned about top end at all.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 5 lety +2

      That's really a matter of personal preference. If you have the stock gearing, I would recommend a rear sprocket that's closer to a 50 tooth. It'll be a pretty big jump but you'll definitely notice more bottom end. Keep in mind when changing gearing more than 2 teeth you will have to get a different length chain.
      I would also search some forums to see what other people are running and liking.

      When you enter in your bike on our home page it will tell you at the top what your chain length is. For a 2015 WR250R the chain is a 520x108.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 4 lety

      We mention using both the 47 and 49 tooth rear sprocket in this video. It will depend on what/where you're riding and your riding style. Both do the job and get the chain away from the swingarm.

    • @jeanson105olivier3
      @jeanson105olivier3 Před 4 lety +1

      @@rmatvmc yeah sorry just got it. a case saver will not fit with a 14 front so i will be running 13 stock one and a 45 or 46 rear to have the same ratio as 14/49. would that also disable the swing arm dangers or getting eaten by the chain ?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 4 lety

      Yes, even with just the 14 tooth front sprocket you shouldn't run into any problems.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 7 lety

      Sounds like ok of a deal, but what is all wrong with it? Will it need a new head, cylinder, new uni-cam, valves, piston or crankshaft? What're all the replacement parts needed is what i would find out. If all that is required is a new piston kit/top end then yes. Good deal if you're planning on rebuilding it yourself.
