I had a Gravely 48” proturn before I purchased the scag. Zero issues with the gravely in 6 years. Patriot shows up and use it once and the right Hydro was leaking. Almost two month at the dealer and finally getting it back today.

@@soulja617Running great! Zero issues so far my 1st season with it. Put about 60hrs on it. I put a baffle kit and the Scag light kit that's made for the Patriot so I can mow later in the evenings during the hot months of summer. I use the Kawasaki 10w-40 oil in spring with cooler temps and then change the oil out to 20w50 around 4th of July for rest of summer to help with the heat when mowing 1.5 hrs on 3 acres. I feel the 20w-50 oil helps the air cooled motor during the hot months. It's been a great investment so far. Yard looks great. I keep the blades sharp. Just used the Patriot today to apply my pre emergent of Barricade 4FL. Still about 3 weeks away before my 1st mow here in northern Indiana. No problems with the ZT 3400 Hydros yet. I'll be changing out the filters and changing the oil out here in the next week or two and I shouldn't have to worry about that again for a few years when I get to around 250-300 hrs on the mower.
I bought a Scag Patriot new in 2020. My 52" deck paint is also peeling off pretty badly. I bought some Scag orange spray paint and touch it up every season as best I can. Agree that it's built like a tank and performs quite well on my 1.75 acre rural lawn. However, I had a really frustrating issue right from the beginning that my dealer failed to correct for 2 years. My Kawasaki engine kept backfiring and I couldn't figure out why. I always use ethanol free marine fuel so that wasn't the cause. After 2 years of me complaining, the Dealer finally witnessed it themselves so they investigated and got it corrected. But 2 years of backfiring on a brand new, high dollar Scag was very surprising and disappointing. That said, I really love the machine and recommend it!
I have a 21 scag its got about a 180 hours on it iv had it serviced once a year now it runs a few minutes and dies let it set for awhile an it will start an run an then same thing dies what is it when its running runs great up till then
I have the same issue with the deck height being too far away. Did you have to add that metal piece or can you just flip the arm around and put the spring back on? Also, I am not finding the link to that video. Can you please link or post as I would like to do the same to my Patriot? Thank you,
So you like the scag better than the gravely? I’ve been thinking about buying a new zt hd 52.. but there’s a low hour(50hr) patriot by me for 7k.. on the fence.
I brought a Scag in 2021 with a 52” deck and I have not had any issues with my paint peeling. This mower is a tank and I love it.

@turnertv nice video, where did you get your baffle/blowout kit? I just got a patriot 52" myself and there is a ton of blowout from the font and side.

Put up a vid on hydro fluid/filter change. Just bought that same mower with 200hrs. Need to do a deep clean and tune up.

Yes it’s pretty straightforward. Don’t cheap out on filters or fluid. Buy what the manual calls for.
