I'm not sure if i should be applauding your editing work or denouncing your choice in opponents. You out gear these guys so hard you might as well be fighting in the tutorial zone. They might out number you but at no point were you ever in any danger of being killed. Find someone worth fighting or don't put the video up.

Its world pvp bro... What should they do segragate some zones based off tier to keep you safe and make sure OP tier 5000 isn't raping poor lil Teir1 (if even.) Its not like when him and his crew run into a Zerg (mind him doing it solo also) that sticks are being thrown at him; he can die. But to deny his skill and Build is short sighted when he can show you him do it at any lvl/gear and is nice enough to give guides on how he does it.

How do you evade and block so many hits? Also how do you recover from those melee CC's so quickly, whenever I am trying to go up against like a darkrunner I get CC'ed into oblivion like every single time.

I gotta ask why does it seem like no one was using very many CCs vs. you? Do you have some sort of block against it? I've only been playing with beta and I only got to like level 30, but I always run 3 CCs a mix of stuns and knockdowns. I didn't see much of anything on their end what was the deal?
Just started this game and wondering if this build is still viable, even without any good gear? Or would you prefer to start of with another class? (I like archery and there are plenty of builds for them out there), but i like this one also :) (from what i've see)
I´m playing something really similar to this with my alter. I only wear crafted armor (but I must recognise I´m playing with heavy armor. In the video Kayemzee is playing with cloth) and an Scepter I change every 10 levels.
With level 43 I was killing easy lvl 43-47 players. I killed them from 48 to 50 too, but It was harder.
So... yes, It´s viable. But yes..it´s hard.
Defiler has a great movility problem (archers will be a headache for you) but also has a great DPS and crowd control.
The first, last and best advice I can give you is... ALWAYS keep your mettle ready to hit players. It doen't matter the mob. There will be always be player trying to kill you. Mettle is a life safer!!!.

Is there any reason you couldn't use Magnificent Lake plate armor instead of the cloth, and use magic defence gems? There are so many hex blades/prime evils/stone arrows that i figured it might work well considering all of the abilities are basically instant
Well there are several reasons but the mains are this;
Gemming in this game is a nightmare, you fail once and you'll lose all the socketed gems. Unless you somehow have an unlimited supply of gems it's just not worth it.
Second reason is that cloth set bonuses are actually very good to have.

It's all about the CC, lock them down and capitalize on the few seconds you have to turn the tide of battle towards your favour.

What was the name of the ability you used that created a circle around you while you were fighting? You have any issues with darkrunner?
I imagine that at high level darkrunner is easy to take out as defiler if he can land cc.

Ive been looking into it after ive been playing as the hexblade for the past 40 lvls. and im wondering how it would work out.
What i like about Hexblade is the stuns i get from charge and triple slash. But stealth and shadowsmite is just soo sexy
Carl White Shadowknight is quite good, shadowsmite combos well with purge in witchcraft + the mark / empower combo is strong. Rest of the points I put in witchcraft / defense.

As much as i love invincibility, its a very situational ability, so i decided that i wouldn't need it, as i most likely wouldn't survive if it so happens that i actually do.
Of course with this build i would miss a good Dmg filler (Mana Stars, triple slas, rapid etc)
Please answer, whats the name of your costume? All the ones ingame only give 300. On archeagedatabase it says theres one called Crimson-Maned Lionheart which does give 3000 but you cant get it from a quest or craft it as far as I know. If its in how do you get it
Its a costume guilds have limited access to if they own a keep or else it's from the Arena PvP vendor, not sure which.
Yeah it turns out at only leaders of guilds with a castle can get it.

Hi there, I did some research and tested stuff by myself, so let me ask you something bro;
I agree with the witchcraft + defense combo, its pretty strong, but don't you think that, even if you kill people in this video with that build, the actual potential of occultism damage and utility is kinda low?...
Switching to sorcery (Cabalist), and investing some points on it, you could get a 2000 hp shield, an amazing dmg output from 2nd skill, and a not bad filler from 1 skill (less mana cost, higher damage, and status effect that combos with buble trap, banshee wail) ...
Plus if you feel like doing it, you could get magic circle to increase your damage output on close targets after using Imprison.
Overall, I think that even Archery would fit better because the endless arrows damage is higher, plus the higher range, and higher damage from the 1st skill (archery).
If you look closely, with this class, you issolate targets, and combo them to death, and then switch to the next one, I don't see how impale is worth the investment in occultism, since its damage, yes, is good, but not the highest you could get from other classes, and as I said, if your objective is issolate targets and focus them to death, a magic AoE with around 2,5 seconds cc is not such a big deal, at least not if you use it to stack damage like you do in this video.
So... why occultism?

occultism has more instant cast abilities and for being a tank that's pretty key most of sorc's abilities require that you stop and channel and make yourself a stationary target.

I remember seeing this video the day it released. I dropped shadowplay on my daggerspell and started started leveling defense. It was a blast. Would also be keen on a similar build for unchained. Who doesn't love a good 1v4

Can someone explain to me what's going on in this video? It seems like the guy is critting others for like 1-2k, but only getting hit for single or double digits, for the most part. Is gear **that** important in Archeage or is something going on?

So im confused about this. Been playing my defiler for a while now, have a good cloth set, magnificent weapon and still, using this exact build, am so squishy. Archers tear me up. Is cloth gear really viable?
Banished8712 I never have a problem with archers, maybe you still lack enough defense to mitigate their damage. You have to get your passive damage reduction as high as possible, (3% from chest, % from rings, % from neck etc. 10 less to all damage shield enchant from honor) If you're still having problems with archer then I recommend specc'ing into dreambreaker, with that build you get a gap closer via teleport.
If you narrated the video explaining rotation and things you look for when targeting I'm sure your sub base would grow fast.
How are you healing yourself, with no healing on the abilities you have taken?

Umm, Im not sure the players you fought took you seriously :/ They don't seem to combo you or anything, where they just caught by surprise a lot or did just think that you would be easy to kill because you were one player? Its a great video and like others have said I love the editing, but players I fight against seem to be in a whole other league and are a lot better at fighting than in this video. Any thoughts on this?
Although my equipment is pretty rubbish, but dont feel the effects too badly, as im a bit of a joke - lvl 50 running lvl35 crafted gear (basic), yet still hold my own against other level 50's with hasla's and other stuff that I am having a hard time getting hold of (Just a little wine while looking at your epic looking equipment XD)

He is killing the players in hasla.. the players are farming for heir maybe first tier weapons and are clearly under geared.. you can see even some of them have Quest gear lol. Quest gear is really bad. I dont think the players expected any pvp since in arena's you mostly find experienced people who are ready for pvp. So nice video for the editing part.. but taking up a whole group with your better gear isn't anything surpricing in a game where you hit harder and survive longer with better gear..

No, the HP comes from my costume (Castle GM) +3000 HP & the quality of my gear is all heroic magnificent lake (+700~ HP) & Defense Build (+3000~ HP)!
Lake is also stamina/int gear, so that alone nets me around 15k+ hp.
wow people really don't get it..in action combat games like tera and guild wars 2..mitigation stats like block, evasion and parry are not calculated that is why tera and gw 2 stats customization are so bland and whack. Archeage on the other hand calculate block, evasion and parry as mitigation which is much more complex and fun because you can theory craft rather than just bland dodge system.
That's the funny part; they look and see tab targeting but have no idea whats under the hood depth wise. It takes real skill..
Not a stand in 100 stacks of this roll fest. Or wait Tera where some can roll, some can port, some can dash, Gimmicks..

Megadat the fun comes from theory crafting and build customization..when you manually do it and the " blocking effect ends " ..it really doesn't feel like you mitigate anything.

Damn man, the game relies more on numbers than skill, that's really fun right? They had the exact same shit in WoW, it's nothing new. I play archeage and use to play Tera and sorry but if you think Archeage combat is more fun you're insane, tab targeting blows. It's not the fact that there are teleports and rolls....it's the fact that you can dodge every ability. It takes skill, not just knowledge like this game does, read the combos, do the combos, win.
Theorycrafting is fun for people that enjoy sitting there trying to mix/max everything and trying to achieve the best numbers. Go play Diablo 3.
There isn't that much build customization in this game, Rift had the exact same system.
u mean u can p2w to get best stats and rek every1, leaving in a confusion that this is your skill, not your gear. Thats why bots, whales like MMOs. Sadly these days MMOs are not so skill anymore, which is sad.
