    It’s a tough decision to make… BYD Dolphin Premium, MG4 or Ora Good Cat? All great cars, but the Ora’s looks and interior wins hands down.

      I am weighing up these options too. Heard some negatives about the Dolphin but lots of positives about the MG4. I am test driving the Ora next week but won’t make a decision until I at least get behind the wheel of the MG4 - hopefully soon.

    But it has no towbar rating (not allowed to install a towbar) so I can't even install a bike rack (my bike is not going to fit inside the Ora).
    But, you may say, it's only a little car. My 1990 Daihatsu Charade has a towbar. It tows my 6x4 trailer quite well, it carries the occasional load of lawn clippings, weeds and shrub prunings to the tip and an item of furniture that I may buy from someone from facebook marketplace from time to time.
    I have taken one of these for a test drive, but the towbar issue was a deal breaker.

    It does seem like a good little car, but I'm not so sure about the lane keep assist. I've heard reports from some people that use it as a daily driver that occasionally it can get confused and steer the car when its not supposed to which could cause some problems, and that the setting to turn it off is burred in the settings in the screen and resets to ON every time you start the car which would be a real hassle and practically a deal breaker for me.

    • @robnicholas7645
      @robnicholas7645 Před 11 měsíci +2

      If you turn lane assist off (two touches on the screen) on the model we have here, in NZ it stays off. It does not default to on when you get in the car again. However the regen. strength does default to strong every time you get in car and I find I prefer normal which again is only a quick touch of the screen to change ,no big deal. Great city car.

    looks like it doesn’t have air vents in second row but it might not be compulsory if majority time it’s just loaded with front passenger only, great for young family without kids, or more mature adults with all their kids living away from them. How does its great servicing and warranty look like btw?

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Před 11 měsíci

      The GWM Ora comes with a seven year vehicle warranty and an eight year, 160,000km battery warranty. Capped price servicing is available costing $99 per service over the first five years.

    The driver monitoring system does NOT work in this car in NZ and Australia, only works in the GT model. It is supposed to work but China don't have a fix for it. They have been trying to fix my cars DMS for 8 months now. it is not a 5 star ANCAP safety without the driver monitoring system working. please share for the safety of ORA drivers

  • @TC-vx9yv

    Chinese cars have come a long way, and I think this will be a hit, first good looking car gwm has made. I'd still be concerned about how much of my driving data ended up on a Chinese server and what the long term build quality and lifespan would be.
    What is that camera looking thing on the dash A pillar?

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The module you see on the A-pillar is a driver attention monitoring camera - used to detect inattention or drowsiness and alert the driver, similar to the systems you see on Subaru, BMW and Toyota/Lexus vehicles (just mounted in a different location).

      In Australia cars with the Aurora Green exterior are finished with a matching green and beige interior. Other exterior colours are paired with a black interior with contrast stitching.

      The price premium for electric over petrol still doesn’t make it economically viable unless
      1. You get free electricity to charge.
      2. You keep the car for 150,000 plus km.
      3. You assume premium dealer maintenance costs for an equivalent ice car.
      That said, I still want ice fume free cities.

    The boot is way too small, the efficiency, range and fast charging are not good enough. The MG4 64Kw is a better EV with rear wheel drive albeit with a boring interior.

      You missed two considerations.
      - Novated lease option through your work, no fringe benefit tax on EVs.
      - government rebate scheme.
      At the moment Gwm Ora 2023 model is going for $38.5k in WA after on road costs. That's $35k after government rebate.
