Saw one at the shopping centre on static display. Very well built and the width is almost mid-size like a RAV4.
Can all car reviewers please state the battery chemistry when reviewing EVs? LFP vs NMC etc is going to become as relevant as knowing whether a car requires 91RON or 95RON - it's valid info buyers may use to make a final decision.
Standard range is LFP long range is NMC.
I have had an Ora for some weeks now and your review is very good and outlines very clearly the strengths and weaknesses of the car.
Loved the exterior in dark green but the interior was even better. It drives like a regular car and didn’t feel weighed down by the battery. Loved the Jetsons-like whir from the drivetrain. Tyres are definitely inferior and I’d replace them with something quieter and with better grip. Hoping the software bugs are resolved quickly.
About the Single Pedal Mode - when car has just been fully charged, the car will lose its single pedal/strong regen functionality until such point when some power has been drawn down. I think it is mentioned in passing somewhere in the user manual. It caught me off-guard too in the beginning...
To answer the reviewers question I think it looks cute. Interested to know what range it gets when sitting at 110km/h on the highway if any owner has info/experience they would care to offer?
The driver monitoring system does NOT work in this car in NZ and Australia, only works in the GT model. It is supposed to work and GWM China don't have a fix for it. They have been trying to fix my cars DMS for 8 months now. it is not a 5 star ANCAP safety without the driver monitoring system working. please share for the safety of ORA drivers
Disappointing that purpose-built EVs like this and MG4 don't have even a tiny frunk. ZS EV also has space under the bonnet, but they haven't specced a frunk. To me that's a genuine selling point for EVs, especially smaller hatchback-sized vehicles.
It doesn’t have a heap of room in the engine bay. Its frunk at least in this design might only be the size of two glove boxes. MG4 has more space however probably 4 glove boxes in the bonnet. At some point I guess they said not worth the expense. I agree a frunk is handy I have a model y. But not sure a pathetic sized frunk is handy.
@@lspeegs every bit of space counts, especially in a smaller vehicle. If even just the charging cables can go in the frunk, that frees up the under floor sections for other items.
drawback of LFP battery is it's low density. You can’t have your cake and eat it too
No voice control, no DAB radio, no OTA updates, no maps, Android auto available only next year, no memory of settings, mode change causes all settings to revert to default... some of these things are available to overseas buyers... GWM treats Australian customers as 2nd class citizens...
It's really interesting to see how much more advanced some of these features are on overseas models compared to Australia. Looks like we got a much more stripped-out infotainment specification.

Has excellent Apple car play and unlike the review here mine hasn’t had any issues paired with 3 iPhones. 3 weeks so can’t say it never will. So far pretty good in that area and I don’t have Android phones, but that would be very annoying if I did. Android support is coming, I’ve read in various places.
Apple car play is a very good implementation on car firmware v1.0.0
The lack of remembering settings and the indicators being strange are the two main faults. If Android auto comes you will not be missing digital radio. The voice assistant would be handy but not really missing that either. Hopefully they add hello ora, but it’s not needed on the base model at least. On the premium models I think yes a must.
As the name, ORA means NO
Not the same price anymore. MG4 is the most pricey.
FFS there is nothing Porsche looking about this car. Nissan Micra maybe.
Having said that this would be a great runabout car.
There's a little little elements that look like other cars. have you seen the body kit you can get to turn one into a 911 GT3 look-alike? It becomes very Porsche-like with a few little changes: www.lazada.co.th/products/ora-good-cat-by-lumga-2022-i3716560207-s14076076005.html?spm=a2o4m.tm80167383.2074280300.1.4750PENBPENBmY.4750PENBPENBmY
A great 2nd EV. Probably a bad choice for your only car as boot space is lacking, but cabin space is great. I guess that is where the boot space went, it’s very comfy in the cabin.
The No car
The front does look like a Porsche. That’s because it was penned by a former Porsche designer.
You don’t like the car we get it
This is the No car
