      He wouldn’t have died had he fallen in, his partners could have just grabbed a very long rope and fed and into the crevasse so that he could climb out.

      I don't know if it's a stupid thing to say but that's what I figured I didn't know you had to get a helicopter to get it I figured I went on another couple snowmobiles and pull it the fuck out

      It was wedged in there pretty good, and we were worried if we dug too much around the sled it would fall even further and then we may have a broken sled instead:)

    Same thing happened to me but i was able to pin it at the last second and cased the other side and went over the handle bars but my sled just made it up. How much did that cost?

    My uncle's brother died a while back in snowmobiling in Alberta when he fell into a crevasse. Broke his neck.

    Always have a rescue helicopter standing by when you go snowmobiling. It's one of the ten essentials along with map, compass etc.

    I've flown over a crevasse like that on a sled before. It was in a relatively flat open field. I went back to check it out. Seemed like it was formed by the wind and a boulder.

    Hey I'm glad to see that you are ok. Falling into crevasses like that is quite common, and in a lot of cases is fatal. Good thinking in jumping off at the last moment. Also what is the name of the song at 0:46? Thanks

    You do know the crack sometimes extends out with weak spots... use a jerry rigged pole or something next time to attach a carabiner or something to the back of the snowmobile.. not worth it

    I randomly had something like this pop up, when I was riding my dirtbike in southern Utah. I just leaned back and went WOT, back tire hit the other side hard. Almost crashed into some rocks, but I somehow made it across. For a split second, I thought there was no way I wasn't going to be crippled the rest of my life. Now I just have student loan debt.

    the guy in front of you should have waved you off, you could see him looking at it. also its hard to tell if you could have gone over it if you cracked the throtle. i think that comes with experience though. glad to see no one got hurt though.

      Its hard to see in the video but the guy in front was waving off, you can always go back to a situation and say you should have done this or that, but when your in the moment you don't always think clearly! :)

      sacrad78v9 Exactly what is thinking. When in doubt throttle out. I did almost the same thing but rode out. The other guy should have done a better job warning you though! I can't tell if you were standing or not but you can see that stuff easier if you are standing. Not trying to be a jerk just trying to educate if I can. It's sketchy out there. I've seen quite a bit riding the backcountry of Alaska for 25 years. At least you didn't ride it to the bottom. I'm sure that copter was spendy.
