Nice 70s porn music, lol

Soft porn
Leave this guy alone
holy shit dude... why the hell were you walking near a cornice?
Indeed ... that didn't look like an avalanche but a cornice breaking. Which is poor route-planning really.
This guy clearly doesn't belong in back country.
@@michaelroberts8397 Bull shit he is a good Snowboarder and just made a mistake and that’s alright
Lo F being a good snowboarder and a good mountaineer are different things, if you’re a gnarly snowboarder and want to hit the back country find some more experienced people to guide you, even the most experienced mountaineers almost always use local guides. That being said, he survived and wasn’t near the edge, even the most experienced people make mistakes, I don’t know this guys level of experience cause I’m just a guy in the youtube comments, but the idea that if you’re good at riding a board you’re safe to traverse back country solo is dangerous which is why I gotta say something. Peace n love all, stay safe out there
@@tuckersossaman4485 by saying he probably is a good snowboarder(based on other Videos and his good style riding powder) I meant he is experienced and knows what he is doing. Except in this moment.
Just wanted to protest against the „oh he is so stupid how could he do that“ and headlines like „Avalanche idiots killed“ because every one makes mistakes and we should learn from them instead of judge him.
so close. thats why you don't do back country alone.
Got lucky, that was pretty big cornice u broke off. Glad u made it home to upload this and show just how easy and temping it is to wanna walk on the edge. I like how right before it breaks u look over and see dirt And rock.
HOLY SHIT! That was insane!!! Nice backcountry run at the end!
Take all the Avalanche courses you can!! It appears from the other comments that you have...er...but...they do you no good if there is nobody on hill with the receiving end on that beacon...going out of bounds and into 'lanche terrain alone is a monumental error in judgement. You may have the skill set to turn, but there are probably a lot of people you'd seriously bum out if you got buried, alone, in a far away area where nobody knew to look. I hope you rethink this in the near future...snow will fall soon, and we'd all like you to keep posting sweet turns with money tunes...just sayin'...
The thing that no one knows from this video is that I had talked with ski patrol before going out, some of whom are friends and they knew where I was and about the avalanche before I returned. The big picture is not always captured on a video. Just saying. Also I don't really care what people say about going solo into the backcountry. I enjoy it with partners but sometimes I enjoy going alone. another 9 years or so have gone by since this video and I'm still riding backcountry and sometimes I'm solo.
nathan post fuck that!
@Joe Weber and based off your witty comments you're a classic example of a genius.
@@Planittravel Holy crap. Just saw this the first time. That close to dying. A foot or two. I would have walked back the way I had come up after that. That avalanche it wouldn't have mattered zip if you had a buddy along or a trauma surgeon with a Level One Trauma Center at the bottom. You go over that edge and that's it. They may find you with the beacon but it's not a rescue, it's a recovery. Huge brass ones to make turns after that close call. Good to see that you're still safe.
@Mac Busby Why do you care? And a partner would not have been able to stop me from falling off the side of a mountain. It's not like I would have been on belay. Had I fallen I would have fallen 1000 feet or so. Probably would not have survived, with or without a partner. But I didn't fall and life goes on. Maybe one day the mountain will get me or maybe I'll die of the Corona virus next week. Life isn't really in control and death is coming for all of us. Might as well enjoy the ride. 😁
This is why we get to watch cool videos from our comfortable chairs, people out there risking it! Same thing could happen to a TGR rider when the heli drops him off on a peak. Badass video
Go Pro - makin' every clown a hero since 2002.
Why does video suddenly change right before the cornice breaks? Odd to make video smaller and go from 16:9 to 4:3 at that moment...
THAT video ROCKED man! Thanks for sharing it. Post more if you gott'em!
I love watching video's and living vicariously through others (I am handicapped, but always dreamed of boarding). Thanks for the visual my man. Snow is coming - can't wait to see what you post for 2012~
indeed! quite scary though.
you really respect what goes into your ride down, great vid man. dont board alone!
I enjoyed your video. Got lucky by that cornice. I thought your ride down was cool. The shadow air grab was sweet!
so my first thought was "wow that was close!", then my second thought was, "man, look at how deep that snow was, i wish i lived out there"...
i think i have a problem haha
Wow, the fear of one's life! :) Few centimeters on the left, and you'd have jump toward death! Dude, I loved the video! Keep living!
That would be a dream come true. riding down a mountain with no one around. I would have freaked when I saw that ridge of snow fall off. props for sticking it out and giving us a great vid to watch
That looks like quite a run. Awesome!
haha love reading all the comments on your video nate I can tell all these people love you
2:35 save some time!
2:35
Thx
I had a snowboard strapped to my feet when I was born too. We have the same trip. Danger is everywhere... lovely places too!
I want to go where this was filmed. Fantastic video. Love when you're walking around up there. Cheers.
Incredibly mature outlook you have there. I feel sorry for your family and for the ski patrol who will inevitably dig you out.
The backcounty is a wonderful playground that can be enjoyed while minimising the risks to yourself and others.
All jokes aside he is a pretty good snowboarder.
Sweet video. Im really happy you didnt go down with that collapse! Incredible boarding at the end, amazing! Enjoy the rest of your season man
awesome riding and a pretty trippy song i must say.
Like how you made such a thoughtful decision to go into the backcountry alone on a powder day. What an intelligent thing to do, look what almost happened.
Wow so many haters and expert opinions. He got close to danger, reassessed and went back to a safer spot to drop in and have an awesome ride. Some people push the limits, and some people play it safe. Ease up and stop giving the guy a hard time. Great ride Nathan
+Dean M You couldn't be more right. It's amazing how many avalanche experts there are on youtube. This has been going on since I posted this video 6 years ago. I'm pretty certain most of these experts on here have never even skied let alone gone out into the backcountry.
+Dean M What amazes me the most is people telling me how dangerous it is, as if I was not aware of it. I watch base jumping videos and for some reason don't feel the need to tell them how unsafe base jumping it because well I just figure they are pretty damn aware of how dangerous it is already. hahaha
... He walks into a do do walk/ski area and you think he is right to do that?
+laura marshall I've said it like a hundred times for six years since I posted this video, I left the ski area boundaries through a gate. it was not closed.
We hiked a ridge and saw it was unstable. We dropped down the side and stayed close to the trees. As we were crossing out the bottom some half-wit set the ridge going above us. Despite us shouting for him to stay off. Of course, he managed to stay out of trouble but we were partially buried. If I ever find that guy I'm gonna stamp on his head until it pops.
holy shit... the only argument on youtube that was actually resolved in a relatively mature way. ive regained a little faith in humanity
Awesome video! You have great skill.
I really dont understand the hate in comments here.. Seriously why? :D As he wrote in desc. he was testing his new Go Pro while having fun.. Everyone bitching about his safety or skills, but what the hell? Are you all so plebs or what? You need to hate everything you cant do, or do better? lol.
CZRaS Yeah , idiots hating this :D
CZRaS yer right after walking past the closed sign and posting git here so as to encourage other to do the same. Hero.
+CZRaS everything from this video is cool, except from the fact that he is alone... it's not worth it and stupid in my opinion to go out there by yourself
Very dangerous to be near avalanches alone. If you get stuck under 4 feet of snow, who is there to dig you out??
+I Forgot My Username This was a cornice break, not an avalanche. Depending on conditions, it likely triggered a slide when the cornice hit the snow below it, but what you saw wasn't an avalanche.
+I Forgot My Username
It's actually not that dangerous at all. I get buried frequently and I just bust out my shovel and dig myself out.
+Michael Fox Your right it is a cornice break but you can also see the avalanche running out down below. Technically any debris falling down the side of a mountain is an avalanche, whether it's rocks, snow, cornice breaks or baby seals.
+nathan post
I'm going to have to assume you have never dug yourself out from a complete avalanche burial unless you have video to prove it.
The snow constricts you like concrete once it stops moving. You're lucky if you can even move your hands to reach your shovel, let alone dig with it. If it were so easy to simply dig yourself out, few people would be killed in avalanches. There's no substitute for having educated and experienced partners, beacons, and shovels with which to dig each other out. If you're on your own and get buried, you're done, shovel or no.
I really don't think your comment gives an accurate sense of avalanche safety at all.
That comment was 100% sarcasm. Of course you can't dig yourself out after burial.
sweet line man...diggin your flow!
you are amazing at snowboarding! very good job, looked like fun
I saw that coming, why would you walk so close to the edge? And why go in a backcountry area with no others?
Michael M ljjthklkjjj
Yeah, Darwin will sort out the idiots who walk on cornices.
Yeah, your probably right.
This idiot 7 years later is still commenting on his video. Clearly you have an issue. Remember to go outside instead of comment on you tube videos like you have told countless others to do. Go fuck yourself.
M L. Bro did he kill ur entire family. Relax
great video. way to respond level headed to all the trolls! I was actually trying to view avalanche footage, so you somewhat disengenueous title made your video a bit of a distraction from what i was trying to accomplish.
well said, and curiosity is what suckered me to far out onto this cornice. I was trying to see a specific line that has a terrifying cornice drop into a chute, needless to say after the thing popped off I picked a more mellow line for the day. I was just happy that I wasn't hucking off the thing when it went.
man amazing video sick jumps i liked the indy grab a lot :D i cant wait till the snow comes to go snowboarding i live in greece so the snow haven't come yet :P
Thanks for that. You just made me realize how much better my day went because I wasn't sitting around watching youtube video's and then letting people I have never met know how much I would like to read about their death in the newspaper. What's wrong with you?
Yet here you are. Doing what you say you don't. Being active is great. Being active in the most stupid way is dumb Just think what your patrol friends would say when they dig you out of 20 ft of snow. Your not the only one who goes outside but you are one of the select few that are too dumb to realize your mistakes. So many in this video. Clearly you know just enough to never learn anything.
"... living a bit on the edge"
hummmm nope, the edge was several meters on the right ;)
Great vid, I want and don't want to record such event
Legit line you rode! Recognize those peaks anywhere. I'm an old guy, Pali was my first cornice in 7th grade when the original lift was brand new in like 1979. 🤣 So much of that area was off piste back then. Had a few close calls myself over the years. So you went up the ridgeline above the East Wall and dropped off that backside? Gonna have to get out for some slush and a beer at the Beach this spring - You've inspired me - cheers! 😆🤙
you nailed it! not many people know where this terrain is. this is an older video but I still try to get up and ride this terrain in the spring at least once if I can. It's still all off piste back there.
I like your board bro! I like the black surface and the green bottom. Its pretty sick!
Stay the hell away from cornices!
Charles Bristol thanks captain obvious
It's Catherine Obvious
I am the captain!
Not smart.. and why are you out there by yourself?
Cuz he has no friends. Obviously.
This is an such an awesome video. Close call dude...
Great lines, I do the same adventureing myself. With years of backcountry experiance. I laughed when I saw a pit on top of the cornice!!! How foolish even for a lesson? Great to see you walked a bit. It is safer sometimes. Other remarks you received are noted; correct a partner is always helpful. But in any case that is what makes life and back country so powerful. Being along, watching, listening, feeling the snow. Your are looking over you shoulder and riding near a rock band.Safe Journeies
Where was the avalanche....
2:36
2:54
I hope no one was down there!
yeah, even with CAIC and Winter Park checking on the Vasque Cirque, CO is unpredictable. beacon, probe, shovel, and an AVY 1 are pretty much required. the spike in skiers in the bc dying this year is mostly correlated with the massive number of newbies not knowing about CAIC, terrain traps, digging pits, and the other basics.
this music and you shredin'.... sick
Actually I had avy gear not that it freaking mattered since I was alone and Its not that uncommon to ride back-country solo. I do things solo often. If you think I was walking in a dangerous area you should have seen the line I was trying to get into. What some people are comfortable doing appears to be reckless to others, but to each his own. I certainly don't care how reckless or safe other people choose to live there lives, but then again I'm to busy living my own reckless life to care.
I almost said something about being wreckless and ignorant until I read this. Now your just my hero because of that last sentence 🤘 get busy living fuckers!!!

You poor thing
Where does it hurt?
Where's the huge avalanche?
*thumbs down*
maksphoto78 2:37
maksphoto78 You missed it.
+Stephen Hunter All I saw was a slab of snow falling away. No huge avalanche there.
Yeh no avi here, just a cornice breaking off.
When at first the edge collapsed/fell i was almost screaming at the computer "MOVE!" lol, thankfully the bit you were standing on didn't fall
Enjoyed your video mate.
Nice ride and sweet footage!
Nice vid man! Thanks for sharing:) Good that you were'nt stepping further out! Great ride after all..nice music and rocks too!
Avalanche happens yeah, people are curious, extreme people are extremely curious, and it will always be like that. Its not safe to live anyway, noone have survived it yet! But lets make adventures as safe as possible, so one can tell a tale, like you just did. Ride on!
The shadow air grab👍👍
Sick ride dude. Pretty effin close call there!
When I hear of "people dying in a backcountry skiing accident" ....now I can picture why. That has to be some of the sketchiest footage I have ever seen. I have snowboarded in an out of bounds avalanche warning area and I almost shit my pants doing it, but this is a whole other level. That ride down though looked pretty epic. This is a great video
amazing footage!
Love your "Holy Shit, I could have died." stare at the end. xD
Those boards are sick
That was awesome! Looks like fun
A sobering educational video about the dangers of back country boarding/skiing. Many of these comments are also interesting for their wildly different perspectives. I am all for living life to the max and defining 'risk' for oneself. But didn't you see the great line of cornices along that ridge you were traversing? Crickey!
Nice video, like the music
crazy video! You're a rock star for filming this. Got to be careful in that backcountry though, especially near A basin.
I'm studying and it's really good 😄❄
Torn ACL, no boarding until next year, brings a tear to the eye watching this
that was a close call man! glad you are alright! ride safe.
WO - that's insane!! For anyone else - the avalanche is at 2:34. The boarding after that is so sweet!!
You are forgetting the golden rule of back country travel: NEVER go without a partner.
Thanks, the only thing better than learning from your own mistakes is to learn from other people's mistakes.
Broooooooooow your are lucky dude!!! That looked so close! Nice vid.
Wow, that is so cool. I've never seen one from that angle before. I still don't know if I would call that huge though. Still pretty neat. I have triggered a couple slides in Vail, but both times I didn't have my GoPro turned on.
Funny to see that there is another guy with exacly thesame style as me :).
Rock on!
sick line, ripping!! i want it now :)
Thx for the video!!!!!! It seems if you were in the perfect spot to get a warning from snow gods... shit happens.... god bless and keep riding!!!!
Sick footage. :) make more please
yeah actually I did, I just talked with three ski patrol and ask them if anyone had bean out ahead of me that day and I had a good visual of where I was going. the only people who wouldn't know what was going on would be the people that were not there. so that would include you.
Let that be a lesson to ya! Stay back at the rocks until you find a break in the line of cornices before approaching the edge.
Ten years later tho.... And the guy is STILL HERE, and still getting after it. It really is Freedom of the Hills. Or Free Dumb. Its really the individual's decision. Solo backcountry riders pursuing serious objectives are a special breed. I probably have over 2000 days solo over the course of 3 decades. Dont have kids. Do ski with others regularly. Dont always find them to be too safe to be around, and do mind stopping five times per run to work out safe logistics. I Do carry plenty of gear, have a contact, and a SPOT locator.
Overall, travelling in avalanche terrain is quite RISKY. Wouldn't just come out and recommend what I do solo. Its just where I find Joy and Peace. Comfort (somewhat) for RISK has to be quite high tho.
Anyone who gets after it at this level will get into the shit. The number of Avalanche forecasters, Ski patrollers, and Ski guides getting slid or involved in close calls are too numerous to mention. Hopefully they walk away with a lesson. Sometimes they are killed. Mostly, you wont hear about it... Avalanche forecasters SOLO as part of their job....Same as the Soloists. Soloists are just not getting paid. This debate will never end....
Glad you posted this. Fine example of the Risk and the Reward.
Well said and I couldn’t agree more. I’m avid climber and I rope solo a lot as well. Don’t have to find a partner and can go get after it instead of sitting on the sofa watching CZcams videos. I think solo missions are great provided you take some extra precautions. Most of these armchair monkeys commenting on this decade old footage have never been into serious terrain or even off a groomer. Haha
i just started boarding this year. been skiing before as well. personally i found boarding easier, and wayyyy more fun. greatest choice ever was buying everything so i fealt guilty if i didnt put it to use. Best thing you can do, buy the gear, buy a pass somewhere, and just keep going as much as your freetime will allow. youll learn. and if youre dedicated it wont take very long at all. one lesson to learn basics and ediquette will help. ask every question you want. and youll be fine from there.
Awesome video bro, dope!
wow, props for taking that cliff into the chute!
The music is what made me stay 🤣🤣🤷🏾♀️
Different people are just comfortable with different skinning levels I think is the key "takeaway" here :)
Great vid. Cool track...
Excellent video.. keep feeling alive.. i envy you :)
Awesome vid.!
Awesome video m8 ;D
thaat looks like alot of effort but worth it i guess nicely done :D
damn that was close ,i'm glad you missed it ,keep it real man never stop the fun :))))
Imagine the fearless to go back home
Wow! I really wonder how you estimate when it is still ok and when it becomes to dangerous to go further.
looking for chevy avalanche videos, ended up here :0)
damn these gopro vids are fucking amazing.. it makes me want to go pro at everything.
SICK , insAne Line with nice drops , haters gonna hate
sick video!
you definatly earned your turns
hey man amazing video !!
that's some intense shit brotha... stay safe bro!
sick!!! your really good
dude that grab was sick!
1 my partner got sick, couldn't make it, but I have ridden solo a lot.
2 I had avalanche gear, not that it would do any good being alone so that is kind of a moot point. 3 I talked with three ski patrol about conditions and terrain, and I was heading into an area I have been riding for 15 years so I was familiar with it. Yes I was stupidly to close to the cornice but I have knocked loose dozens upon dozens of avalanches and my comfort zone is probably bordering stupidity :)
