- Thank you to BMP and Tri City Cycles for giving me this UFO Restyle Kit in exchange for working with them on Berthoud Moto Park.
I will need to do some work on the shrouds to try to get them off the tank, as they are somehow connected by more than just the bolts currently. But the rest of the bike is looking SICK!

ReturnOfDeeO I was going to get a YZ 125 but one of my dads friends was selling a kx250f so me and my dad went there today and i will hopefully be able to pick it up soon! The kit looks great!

Your supposed to put the zip tie through the fender hole and up into the number plate, and go into the other hole and down through the fender hole. If that makes sense.

Nothin makes you wanna ride the old 2 stroke more than hookin it up with a full replacement of the hand controls and some updated plastics. The no graphics look is actually fire right now. You got potential for a sick graphics design with the red accents you already have on the seat cover.

ReturnOfDeeo the ziptie is for the peice on top of your front number plate (the bit that curls around the bar) there should be a little hole that it goes through just ziptie it together.

My radiator shroud for some reason won't align with the radiator so I can't put in the bottom screw. Any advice?
@991 for that stuck / stripped Phillips shroud bolt: very carefully use a Dermal tool to make a slot for a screw driver you have. (I'd touch up the driver edge so it's not rounded at all). Then spray the back side as best you can with penetrating oil. Leave for two days and spray again, leave for a day then come back and take that bolt off. Hope you can get the shroud off.
hey deeo , do you have any tips for getting the 2 smoke residue off of the back number plate next to the exhuast ?
Same with my yz250 had to kinda bend the front number plate to fit and run bolts through it but It worked

yeah my 05 yz didn't fit an 08 yz front number plate so I did the top bolt and zip tied the bottom 2

On my kaw the front number plate did the same I used a zip tie to hold it in
i have my 2011 kx250f i thought about doing the 2012 450/2013+ 250f plastics witch would involve a 12+ 450 airbox and then all new plastics some zipties a new seat and a bracket or a newer gas tank for the shrouds.i also thought about getting a yz125 with the alum frame aka 05+ as a second bike

thats probably why, i havent ridden much in the last 6 years even though i just bought a new bike. just havent kept up with whats out there.
My shrouds were also permanent on my tank, we got a torch, and cut the old plastics with a knife, heat up bolt, and pull it out, there is an insert with inner threads in tank it can come out, if you have any questions just ask!

for the front number plate you have to zip-tie the holes together (hence the zip-tie in the kit). I personally don't love the restyle kit. I put on the 2016 plastics for the yz's onto my 2003, and only used the restyle side plates on mine.

What year is the yz?
I have a 04 YZ125 with big bore kit. to 150cc but I wanna do new plastics what year will fit with little modifications ill have to do for them to fit on bike. I race desert and right now I race my 06 YZ250 full moded but I miss racing my 125 so I wanna do a full rebuild from bottom to top. I've already rebuilt the engine and everything else just need to put new plastics and wait for my new Excel pro black rims with gold tusk hubs & gold nipples just waiting to get done being chew with new heavy duty black spokes for the desert cause regular spokes go by fast out in the desert do to all the rocky conditions we have to race in. Just got my new IMS desert tank with dry brake for quick fill, IMS pegs and works connection skid plate. I'm thinking of doing a LED light bar setup for when I race Glen 24hr and other night races but need to find mount online or fab and weld one up myself. Bike has huge part list from Pro Circuit pipe & silencer & full suspension, Renthal bars & spocket & chain, Boyesen full clutch kit & spectra aluminum cover & water supercooler. Fully rebuilt & jeted carborater with all new fuel & oil hoses. ASV break away levels & new throttle and clutch cables. But still have things I need to get hand guards, grips, anodized gold bolts for whole bike, new seat with factory effex seat cover with ribbing, MSR chain guide, front sprocket guard, Acerbis frame guard with grip, Maxxis maxxcross desert rear tire & Maxxis desert IT front tire, radiator and hoses, radiator guard that with save your life in the desert trust lol if anyone out there is selling a stock seat I can refoam and shape out for myself hit me up asap please. but please anyone that knows what the newest year plastics I can fit on a 2005 yz125 with little modifications hit me up asap as well please will be greatly appreciated. also if you know 2006 yz250 new plastic that will fit that will help to cause mite rebuild that bike after to sale for the new yz250x which is a fuck monster for the off road and desert sense!! if you guys could help me out that would be very cool as hell!!👍👍👍💸💸💸💵💵💵💰💰💰🚬🚬

To tighten the sprocket nut. I take the bike off the stand and put it in gear (back it up into a wall if it still rolls) and use a large crescent wrench. Bike looks sweet 🤘🏻
That's exactly what we did with the 450! We'll do that with the 125, but it'll just be easier to have four hands working on it and holding it rather than me dropping the damn bike on my head lol
ReturnOfDeeO HAHAHAHA Im usually the only one working on my bike so ive learned a few things over the years. I can usually get the nut tight but that stupid washer you have to bend down is a pain in my ass every time
If u want the shrode off. Take a drill with a small drill bit. Drill carefully into the center of the stripped screws. Drill halfway in or so. Reverse the drill. The screw will back out. You will b able to replace your gas tank shrode. That technique works every time. I have successfully done that on my quad with bolts and screws too.
Gregory Valliere the whole nut is spinning. Drilling the bolt won't do anything as the whole thing will still spin without coming out.
Can u take a pair of pliers. Grab the end of the shaft. U have the full grip of it. If nothing works out. Maybe the shop where u got the plastics, has a specific tool 4 that. Or at all? Leave it b.

Was looking to do this for my yz! Definitely gonna have to do it it looks so sick. Had the same exact problem with my shrouds to had to break them off I believe lol
Such a pain! But yeah man that kit looks awesome. It's only cosmetic so to be honest your money is better off going towards suspension or something, but it sure does look great!
What settings do you run your gopro on when you ride? I just got the proshot btw.

the rtech revolution plastic kit comes with a tank but the hole kit isn't cheap at all lol

Would it come off if u took a rubber band and put it in the bolt and use the rubber band as if the screwdriver was bigger
Unfortunately no, it's not just that the screw is sort of stripped, there is also a bolt and it won't come out either. It's something inside the tank holding it on.

Dunno if you ever got the screws out of the gas tank, but my '05 yz125 did the same exact thing before i put restyle plastics on it. The screws that hold the shrouds on thread into metal inserts that the gas tank plastic is then formed around when it was manufactured, but unfortunately it was a poor design because the torque of the screws causes the metal inserts to spin within the gas tank plastic. Fortunately, it's not too hard to get out once you realize this. I just pried up on the shroud with a flathead that i slipped up behind it real close to the screw, and while applying a prying force to it, I twisted the screw with a power drill for a minute or 2 until the inserts that the screws were sorta seized into clawed their way outta the gas tank plastic sockets -- which are dead ends btw -- that is, they don't go through to where the fuel is. Just packed in some Loctite Repair Putty and stuck the inserts back in and let it cure overnight and they've held tight for 2 years now.
Hey CBH, that's some great info! We actually ran into more problems with the gas tank, with it leaking and stuff, so we bought a whole new tank and obviously that solved the problem on the shroud screws being "stuck." But that's great information to have if it ever happens again on the 125!

Mine is a 2003, not sure what other years had the same issue.
the zip tie is used for where number plate wraps around the bars. I did this same project. I just epoxied the number plate to the triple clmp

you can get the cycra stadium plate, they just zip tie on

Just put grip tape all the way up the frame.
Doesn't really work on the round steel frame.
ReturnOfDeeO You can get bike specific pre cut grip tape or a full sheet, it's a lot more flexible that grip tape for skating.

ReturnOfDeeO UFO makes plastic frame guards too. I put them on my yz and use grip tape on the 450. I sent you a Snapchat of them.
