Even though it's a neutral location I think it actually benefits New Zealand. Costa Rica are excellent at home. For example the USA has never won a World Cup qualifying game in Costa Rica. So for the game to be played on a neutral pitch benefits New Zealand. Even though Costa Rica will be favorites to win anything can happen in one game.
Solomon Islands have a ver skilled team, unfortunately they lack in tatical awareness and defensive disciplin. A good coach suplied with good assistants could make Solomon Islands the best team in Oceania in no time!!! The same goes for Papua New Guiné.
They will never be better then new Zealand. It's not just coaching its national league, academy, development those island nations just don't have the funding to produce the same quality.
They don't just lack defensive discipline. If these highlights are indicative, they don't really play defense. They just stand around at their defensive end of the field. They don't mark anyone.

As much as I like the idea of the Kiwis going through, I just do not think they can match up with CR given the quality of opponents both have faced. He was subbed-on in two big games for Bayern Munich and he clearly choked under the pressure, his first touches were all over the place. He didn't do badly but he was rather average overall and really blew his big chance. Since then he's been generally very good in 2. Bundesliga. But he's not been consistently good enough to make Bayern Munich's top team again. They'll probably trade him off once his contract ends. If Danny Hay could find a spot for him in this team (instead of either Stamenic or Bell) he could be a real asset against Costa Rica, especially alongside Garbett. He would definitely be another potential scoring option other than the current boring tactic of always trying to put Wood in a scoring position.

It appears Costa Rica will be the Kiwi opponent in an elimination match. As much as I like the idea of the Kiwis going through, I just do not think they can match up with CR given the quality of opponents both have faced. Oh, and I am also a fan of the Leger-Walker girls who played for the Washington State Cougars up here in a state that is very similar to NZ in many ways.

B4 Fiji soccer was so good in the oceania..the best in the Pacific..mostly Australia, NZ, and Fiji..tusselled with each other..and Fiji also beaten them both already back then,..now Fiji soccer is going no where! Other teams in the Pacific are fastly got above them, the once Fiji used to dominate.. look at Solomon Islands and PNG, also New Caledonia and Tahiti.. they've surpass Fiji's status, fiji has all the built players, academy, funds etc..but what lacks now is the clear visionary leadership

Every 4 years it’s the same thing: Complete overrating of our team and disrespectful underrating of the opposition. And they amazingly never learn their lesson, instead they came up with BS excuses for getting dominated by Peru, Mexico, etc.

I don’t know what game you were watching but what I saw was pretty scrappy. They’ve got a lot of work to do over the next two months before facing a team as cohesive as Costa Rica.
We do have Sarpreet Singh tbf, hopefully he's fit and in form by June, coz he is unplayable at times
@@vaibhavjain5971 I've seen some fantastic stuff from Singh. He looked like a real prospect a few years ago.
But unfortunately he seems a bit fragile mentally. He was subbed-on in two big games for Bayern Munich and he clearly choked under the pressure, his first touches were all over the place. He didn't do badly but he was rather average overall and really blew his big chance.
Since then he's been generally very good in 2. Bundesliga. But he's not been consistently good enough to make Bayern Munich's top team again. They'll probably trade him off once his contract ends.
If Danny Hay could find a spot for him in this team (instead of either Stamenic or Bell) he could be a real asset against Costa Rica, especially alongside Garbett. He would definitely be another potential scoring option other than the current boring tactic of always trying to put Wood in a scoring position.
