- some time in April, 2020, Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) uploaded a track to his alternate soundcloud account user18081971. he left a message in the track description (that has now been removed) mentioning the loss of his father and a warning about the C19 pandemic.
the image used here was the original uploaded with the track on soundcloud, that was changed sometime in 2021.

"Huge heartfelt condolences to anyone grieving right now, I lost my father recently and it’s been really tough, it was not related to C19.
When you are presented with C19 statistics, you must demand whether the figures reflect people who have died WITH C19 or FROM C19. Please do not forget this. When police carry out wishes from government, without any law being in place, you are living in a police state and it is no longer a democracy.
When you are held under house arrest, when no crime has been committed, you are living in a police state and it is no longer a democracy. You didn’t think this could happen did you? Do you know what rights you could lose next, can you guess? You have been warned."

You can tell RDJ wrote this from his heart and not his head. Super emotional and dreamy spiritual soundscapes, this is a profound song and I'm sure his father would have been so humbled by this. RIP Derek and thank you for giving us Richard and for nurturing his gift of music, we all thank you
When you’re speechless and sad. I imagine what he was going through even while making this beautiful piece of ambient. Ocean of the memories and sorrow caused by losing someone you love...
I don't think anyone can express the kinda feelings aphex twin does in his music, from stone in focus, to rhubarb and to this it mediates on just the feeling of what he said "on the other side" and just life itself.

RIP To his father, his fans are there to support him through this tough time for sure. Be well, and hang in there Richard. Its tough, either we'll get through it or we won't. No other outcome is possible.
My grandfather passed away in 2018 from prolonged exposure to asbestos and this piece of music makes me think of him and the landscapes he loved. Thank you for this transcendental composition

I don’t remember hearing this before but I very well might of. This sounds ground breaking. Like I’m watching blade runner or breaking through my reality into something turkey beautiful and extraordinary. Like we’re reaching a new level of conscience or learning to life. Possibly the right thing to say this song begins us on a journey of endless possible opportunities of which it’s up to us which ones we embark on. This song makes me think about the possible World War III. It gives me chills, I don't want this beautiful world destroyed by the greed of some old people, I don't wanna die for the greed of such people nor anyone dying, we did nothing, what fault do we have? I'm scared of all the weapons they have, and the ones we don't know yet. They could end all life on this planet in matter of minutes, and what will they win? Nothing. Everyone's effort and everyone's creations through all these years simply gone, in matter of minutes. Our home called "Earth" gone, as if we had another place as beautiful as this one where we could live. We all lose.
We just all live on a world governed by the wrong people, everything's so ironic and unfair. But it seems that human beings must be governed by someone more powerful than them in order to learn how to live, here's the fun part they actually don't need to. That's what they want you to believe, since the tamer a population is the more they become dumber and non self-thinking. They don't want you to know that if we're all united we become more powerful than them. I wish someday we all reclaim what's ours, that we take the power away from those people, that we can live life to it's fullest without being worried of anything, that we can finally be actually free.

His father passed away a couple years ago.
