  • BAKING BREAD WITH COCONUTS? THIS FILIPINO FAMILY IN HERNANI EASTERN SAMAR DOES JUST THAT... AND IT IS AMAZING!
    In this video, we head out from Borongan City and make our way down the coast to the town of Hernani. I meet up with my local friend Frank, who takes to to a few beautiful places along the coast. Seriously, the coast is freaking amazing here in Eastern Samar! After spending time at Canhugas, we try some amazing local "Hinorno" bread. That is the local style of baking bread here... very Waray. The coconut bread has a unique smokey sweetness to it. This was a very unique style of Filipino baking! Loved it!
    After catching a surf and enjoying more of the Samar coast, myself and Bret head back to Tacloban and enjoy a great dinner at La Maison Punjab... one of my favorite restaurants here in Eastern Visayas.
    FILIPINO COCONUT BAKING AND BEAUTIFUL SAMAR COASTLINE!
    POWER ON!

      Horno=oven, so if its called Hinorno its oven baked, dough is masa in not sure if batter can also be called masa, im a 62 year pinoy who used to help my aunt in bikol who is a baker and a "food trades" instructress😊

      Hinorno = cooked in an oven. Horno = oven in Spanish.
      Horno has nothing to do with Tagalog "hulma".

      Hinorno = Oven baked
      Not hinulma.

    It’s like pandecoco.Inorno is like putting the bread in an oven but instead the bread are put under a charcoal or above the charcoal. In their case, they use the coconut husk. In Northern Luzon, we use the charcoals to cook them. But in the old ways, they have a small cave and they put a lot of charcoals.
