  • Lots of great paper quilling skills to learn while watching this letter M come to life! This monogram includes cool things like tulips (inspired by Sena Runa), ombre curved strips, scrolls, a swirl, and tight coils with NO HOLE! Timestamps are below as well as my supplies list. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
    Happy Birthday Mika! (Officially a teen)

    Hi you do such a great job explaining and You have great talent as well. How long does it take you to complete one letter. I am thinking to do letter M and thinking about using a black background and vibrant colors for filling the letters w quilling. Do you have something like this thanks 👍

    • @annigancreates6074
      @annigancreates6074  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! I think this project took me 3 days to finish. Sometimes it's longer, depending on how much time I have available to work on it and how quickly inspiration comes! I like your idea of a black background and vibrant colors. I've seen some terrific flower quilling projects like that. I think you should try it! I haven't done that myself, but I am planning on doing something a little bit similar, with a dark gray background with red and gold quilling on top. I'm trying to decide if I'll do that for my next project, or a different idea.

    How do you go about measuring the strip sizes for the inside of the flowers since it's so small?

    • @annigancreates6074
      @annigancreates6074  Před 2 lety +1

      It will often be a bit of trial and error. Try something and see if it's the size you want. The quilling for this letter is all fairly small and doesn't use up a ton of strips. I do keep a bag of scraps for things I tried and it didn't work out in that instance, but I might use later. So it's not wasted effort.

    • @annigancreates6074
      @annigancreates6074  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi thanks! Good question. This letter M is about 3in x 3in not including the flourishes. With the flourishes, it's 6in long x 4 in wide. It fits inside a 5in x 7in framing mat. Unfortunately I do not have a template, but I recommend watching one of my outline videos that show how to make your own! It's empowering and you can do any letter you want once you learn how. (czcams.com/video/j7NqRW7y3Xk/video.html) "Georgia" is a font that's very close to this style, but you should widen out the legs for more quilling room. Hope that helps!

    What if you don’t have a light box for making the letter frame? Do you have a different tutorial?

    • @annigancreates6074
      @annigancreates6074  Před 8 měsíci

      If you don't have a light box, then your quilling hopes are over. JUST KIDDING!! I like to use a light box, but it's not necessary. Here are 3 other ways that I've seen it done.
      1 - Using your computer and a printer, print a letter outline directly onto the paper you're quilling on. Just make sure it's a thin light line. Now you can glue right on top of the line.
      2 - Using 2 sheets of paper stacked on top of each other, the bottom one is blank, the top has a printout of your letter shape. Trace the letter on the top sheet, pressing hard enough to leave an imprint on the blank sheet below. Quill on top of the imprint.
      3 - Using a pencil, sketch your letter on paper and quill right on it.

  • @CT2507
    @CT2507 Před rokem

    Please dont cut your paper strips in the middle of a line as you have done in the top and bottom of your M in the left side. It shows very clearly. Always cut your strips at the end of a line.
    Very nice tutorial.

    • @annigancreates6074
      @annigancreates6074  Před rokem

      Yes that's probably true. You're talking about creating the letter outline, right? And having the transition between strips happen at a corner? I do like having a bit of overlap for stability and unfortunately that shows up no matter where you put it, but I agree that it's better at a corner instead of the middle of a straight section. Although, I may have started off doing it in the straight part for ease. Thanks for the comment!

    • @CT2507
      @CT2507 Před rokem

      @@annigancreates6074 No it doesnt show up no matter where you put it. Study the work of Sena Runa. You dont need overlap for stability. You create stability with the strips that are within the borders of the letter outline.

    Now, then….about the loud, obnoxious, jangling and totally annoying Muzak….I respectfully suggest you consider getting rid of any music in your background. My view is that it detracts from your otherwise impeccable approach to fun and adventure with quilling. 🦋
