This was perfect timing to post this. I'm in 2 minds of which mill to get. As an older female I worry about manual grinding but with future lack of power looming I'm stuck on which grinder to get. Does this one have a motor that could be attached later on if the need arises? I'm thinking of using it that way with a solar generator
This one doesn’t come with a motor, but you can buy one separately through wondermill I believe. I am hoping to invest in one somewhere down the line. I learned that the hard way after manually grinding 5 lb of wheat and corn one weekend. If I were going to buy a mill with the intent of only grinding flour I would save and invest in the country living mill which also has the fly wheel and option for a motor. I am sure you are aware of it but I just wanted to mention it.
@@flintandfish thank you so much for your reply. I am very very new to grain mills so no I don't know the different brands that are available especially here in Australia where milling our own grain isn't very common
@@cherriebaars3971 No problem! A lot of the gardening/homesteading communities that I keep up with often reccomend a few of the mills. I encourage you to do a lot of research and figure out which mill best suits your needs before buying since these mills are pretty expensive without accesories. The selling point for my Wondermill Jr was that I could grind both wet or dry foods. The Country Living grain mill exceeds in milling dry grains into fine flour, but should not be used for grinding nixtamalized corn for tortillas. They do make a nut butter attatchment that you can use for oily foods, but it is relativley expensive (about $200 USD). The Country Living mill is already about $700 USD so anything more seemed out of my budget personally.
@@susannehager1092 Hi Susanne, I have tried grinding nixtamalized corn in the mill with the attatchment. It works great. I had to adjust it a little at first but eventually figured it out.
