Adopt a rescue from the breed specific organizations. I got a dog who lived in a puppy mill for 5 years. I watch her learn and grow and she inspires me so much when she takes steps out of her comfort zone. So resilient! I will never buy another dog again from a non-reputable breeder. My pet store dogs had so many allergies and health problems! One dog that I did get from a responsible breeder has had zero problems in 13 years. Be smart about how you choose. Dogs from irresponsible breeders can cost you so much in medical bills! Think about adopting as an option, as well. It's the most rewarding thing you'll ever do! My two cents.

I have a teacup yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) and they are tiny but not really tiny, they are really affectionate and playful and if you have a kid they are perfect, but a caution to take in consideration is that they do bite when playing, or thats what mine does. Just for care you can feed then a cup of food a day and take them out every 2-3 hours. They really are cute, but make sure you make sure to have valuable items high, these pups can jump high, these dogs also really like toys and they are real hyoeractive, so make sure they have room to run. Those are some tips and info on teacup yorkies, hope this helps if you are a future dog owner!

I have a 9 yr old female Japanese chin she was given to me long story. Her name is Umi it means sea in Japanese. She is highly intelligent and has cat mannerisms. Clean and quiet very unusual dog and I have had many. She was expensive but I got her free it was meant to be. She isn’t crazy about kids but they don’t bite however we live on an island and she kills things that move like a cat she pounces on it. They don’t like their paws touched they defend with their paws not biting so much. I recommend this breed.

pomeranians arent usually small. they grow but the one you want is a teacup dog. they can be very expensive in medical bills because they suffer from many diseases due to their small bodies. they cant be stressed they need to be fed every 3-4 hours and they need up to 14 hours of sleep everyday. these teacup puppies come in almost every bread and they could suffer from seizures and other bad things that could make their lives miserable. it is important to make them ur main focus for they could die in under 14 years because of their small size. i wanted one too but i dont think im responsible enough for these fragile babies :((((

I love them I had two daushunds before both had to be put to sleep my 1st daushund had kidney failure in 2009 I had him for 11 years his name was cactus the other one I had not even 8years he got bit by a big dog cause of a female dog he lived only a week his blood came out of his little body I seen this and I cried that was the frightening thing I ever seen I love my baby I lost him in April the 29th this year and my golden retriever we had to put to sleep Aug the 27th which was Monday he was 16, years old so its been a bad year for me and my husband

I was unaware that teacup whatever were breeds. As far as I new they are just smaller than the normal breed size. I have a very small chihuahua 1.6kg
Teacup isn't even "smaller than normal".. it's a scam label used by crap breeders to market already small puppies for a higher price tag

Why did you describe a Manchester Toy Terrier on the Russian Toy Terrier's segment (#10)? Russian Toys are different breed than the Manchester Toys and completely different personalities. I suggest that you amend that grave error.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A TEACUP CHIHUAHUA! It is a term used by unscrupulous breeders to charge exorbitant prices for undersize puppies. This is not just our opinion, but also the opinion of all the governing bodies which recognize the Chihuahua breed. The American Kennel Club only recognizes "Chihuahuas - Long coated or smooth coated." They do not differentiate within the breed for various sizes, only that the breed itself is within The Toy Group. But many breeders and owners continue to use this label for their under-sized puppies in an attempt to attach a greater importance to them and subsequently a higher price. Do not be fooled by the claims of breeders who claim they have "Teacup Chihuahuas!" And please, if you have been telling people you own one, do us all a favor and stop using this incorrect term.

The term Teacup along with tiny, toy, miniature, rare is purely fabricated by unscrupulous breeders who are using this marketing ploy to con more money out of people. The chihuahua breed standards state the chihuahuas are between 2-6lb to conform with the standard) they do come bigger and some are smaller however it doesn't make them any more special or rare than any others!! It's all down to genetics!!
When looking for a puppy please do not be fooled by these terms and bear in mind if you are after a dog who will be between 2-3lb as an adult you will need to do a lot of research into possible health complaints (hypoglycaemia, liver shunts etc). Whilst they can be perfectly healthy you need to be aware of possible problems that could happen and signs to look for!
Remember there are only two types of chihuahua longcoat and smooth coat! There are no definitions for size they are just Chihuahuas!!

Teacup is only a word used by breeder! There are rescue groups for all breeds. Please rescue. Also..... Where were the Shih Tzu? I was not a "little dog" person. Got a Shih Tzu 3 years ago. Best dog EVER! Loving, smart, good with other animals and little kids.
