  • Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough met for the first time (via Skype as they did not want to add to their carbon footprints) to discuss the climate crisis and share their thoughts on how to make an environmental impact.
Greta, who spoke to Sir David from Stockholm, guest edited the BBC's Today programme on Monday 30 December. The full podcast is available via the BBC Sounds app.

I love how grateful they are of each other. They compliment each other in their work. Greta is all about a call to arms and plays on the heartstrings of the older generation and the love they have for their children and grandchildren and David Attenborough shows us images of what we're fighting for and why the work is worth it. They're both equally as important for these dramatic times and will both be remembered in history books.

Totally disagree, even top scientist can't say it, as there is absolutely no definite proof. 40 years ago apparently we were predicted to be going into the next ice age as we had several bad winters.
The governments like to frighten people so they accept green Taxes.
Yes industry and fumes etc pollutes the air but not the planets weather.
It's a big issue in the UK because we're often under the jet stream and we're a little island in the middle of the sea, hence the unpredictable weather.
Most gases come from volcanos anyway.

@@yessir2514 That is a very good question! my honest opinion: let's start ourselves, the way we live. I'm not here to attack anyone just to express my opinion on starting with little changes is what is left to do.. doing our best on trying at least one sustainable lifestyle, zero waste for example. If we can't pay for organic foods or have the money to use an alternative energy source, or don't even have access to it.. let's start with zero waste, being a little more conscious of the waste involved in the preparation of our food for example...
Guys, we are all in this together, of course like grandpa David was saying, there is a lot of work to be done on the political side of the equation, but that doesn't mean we can't do anything... we are all habitants of this planet and we can choose, do a 30 min research online on zero waste and try to start with only one step..
Greta is doing her best and luckily she is getting the attention "that climate change" has been seeking for over 20 years and now hopefully more people will be taking action.

Meanwhile, this green summit calls for politicians across the globe often, thus increasing the use of jet fuel from their private jets to lecture workers in their SUVs about carbon footprint, if they really cared about climate change they would've known this.

If you have ever seen the psi fi movie "The Edge of Tomorrow" just a similar likeness to what is here. Global warming is real & we can do something about this & we are strength in unity & can counter this, individually we are cannon fodder but still effective. Not everyone is good but there is something good about everyone. We will prevail, a much more placid remarkable determined spirit is emerging within us, our reflection of our attitudes will profoundly cement our bonds to earth & each other.

I dont know what the outcome will be but know its definitely for the benefit of us as a species & our relationship to Earth, its its own process so dont think negative of the outcome, none of us will ever see that continuous process, we living now & thats why we call it the present 🎁 & award gifts.
We will live better than now but we have been worse, technology comes from knowledge & that comes from within so chill, learn to meditate & appreciate everything because your life is your expression, just dont ruin this planet or support anything in that direction.

It is such a frustrating conundrum for me to think about. I made my living in the modern industrial world, flying big jets all over the planet burning millions of pounds of hydrocarbons in the form of jet fuel directly into our upper atmosphere. As a younger man, I honestly did not know it was wrong. It has to do with how we are taught, and how we view social responsibility. In America, person liberty and freedom are prized WAY beyond any sense of social responsibility, much less responsibility to our only planet - Earth. We must somehow quickly transform our methods of living away from a self centered winner take all kind of capitalism into a fully socialized model of the world where the collective good outweighs every all other considerations. Organic life must be views as equal, and not separate from human life. I can now visibly see our planet unraveling rapidly, and I feel partially responsible for it. Thank you David and thank you Greta. Two of the world's finest humans.

Sir David Maybe you should look at history and society today. Wasnt it your Royal family government and not just uk other super powers as well that actually caused this mess. Just think if they would of left people alone and not try to rule other countries and indoctrinate there beliefs on their own ppl but also others we wouldnt be in this mess. We wouldnt have currency we wouldnt be thinking about material things. As you look at the world today its all been indoctrinated. People today want to have a house a car a steady income and savings yet they dont realise that they are actually contributing to the problem by thinking that way they dont realise that thats a form of indoctrination. Imagine if the world just stopped for one just one day were no one went to work. That would be amazing to see I would wonder what would happen if it carried on for a week would govts or groups start forcing ppl to work would they enslave society would they use military action I just wonder.

And Covid 19 is just one of the horrible things that will keep on happening in future if we continue to treat wild animals the way we do. Massive Conservation efforts are needed to preserve Massive Wild places and Wildlife by Governments worldwide! And the Wet markets in Asia need to stop as Covid 19 started because of that.
